Question What American slang words should I teach my students?
So I'm doing something of an "American slang workshop" and I need about 20 slang words I can teach. They can be a little sexual but not something like "beat it up." Most of my students are girls so I need some words that American girls use with each other.

Here's some off the top of my head...

-floss
-make it rain
-donkey
-BFF
-grenade (may not be able to teach this if there are fat girls in the workshop)
-dawg/bro/dude
-down for ("You down for going out tonight?" / "I'm down for whatever")
-bad (as in excellent)
-cheesy (not authentic/read, trying too hard)
-deep pockets
-what's going on?
-props
-lame
-all-nighter
-beemer
-bombed
-hook up
-smashed
-buzzed
-killed it

Slang involving money is good since the culture I'm in is money obsessed.

Please don`t teach them to say « Huh »

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

You can read The Manifesto blog with them. I still cannot understand a quarter of the stuff he wrote there, so this may be helpful for them too.

Actually one that might be interesting to teach because of the re-appropriation and history is "nigga," but I'm sure they know if they listen to hip-hop.

Confusion similar to trying to explain the variants their, they're, and there; or to, too, and two.

I find myself often frustrated when trying to learn a foreign language, then reflect on those learning English as a second language. Fucked up process.

RE: What American slang words should I teach my students?
Oooh slang.

Word used to express anything:
-Jawn.
-Joint

Jawn, is basically like saying thing. It can be used for anything. It's similar to how people in NY say "joint", but people from Philly usually say jawn.

Used in a sentence
"Pass me that jawn!"
"That jawn is nice"

Words to express money:
-Cash
-Guap
-Duckets
-Racks
-Stacks (New rappers say this a lot)

Used in a sentence:
"I got [insert word from above]"

Insult Words:
-Tool
-Chode
-Dickhead (My favorite)
-Clown
-Tweaker/Whore/Slut

Used in a sentence:
"Stop being a [insert word from list]!"
"You're a [insert word]"

Used to express someone acting out of character
-Drawling
-Snapping

Used in a sentence:
"Ugh, he's [insert word] right now"

Positive self descriptions:
-I'm swagged out
-I'm killing it.
-I'm so fresh/clean/fly
----
What you could also do is possibly teach them how to make their own slang through little exercises. Whats great about slang is that it can be invented by anyone anytime. Since they are foreign, tell them that its okay for them to add a bit of their native language to the American language as slang as long as they don't overdo it. (i.e. Spanglish)

Ask them little questions about like how would they describe a situation. Like show a picture of a guy that looks weird.
Example:
"Ladies how would you describe this guy in your language?" (lets say all of them are spanish)
"He looks stupido"

See? That spanish chick just made a slang word using her own language in an English conversation.
--
Teach them more about hip-hop music. Because hip-hop music today is where most of our slang stems from. Watch this video for instance.

Slang phrase thats came from this song: That shit cray.
Which is basically used to like express something that's crazy. Also notice how the song is a bit recent so the slang isnt that much ancient.
--

That's my spill on slang bro. I could go deeper if you'd like, but im tired now.

Lizard. Reptile. Iguana.

Used in context:

"Hi Roosh, I am going out tonight with a few of my lizards, feel like joining us?"

"Oh my gosh, look at that reptile, doesn't she have any self respect?"

"I don't know if I am going to go bar hopping with Diana any more, she is such an iguana!"
