In my city there's a lot of techno/dubstep/etc. events that aren't major raves - e.g. $60 tickets, stadium rental, 120 decibels, etc.

Instead, the tickets are relatively cheap, the venues are a little smaller and they still go until a reasonable time of night. Does the community here have any experience with these sorts of events? What can I expect? Do they appeal to the more hardcore community, or do the lowered ticket prices attract more casual partygirls?
