In terms of practicality German is not as useful as say Spanish or even French. Did you choose it because its similar to Afrikaans? I completed high school Economics and Business Management last year a year early. The former was awesome but the later was bullshit.

i agree with Pdog, I'd rather take Spanish or French. German is a far more limited language in terms of places where you can use it.

So I was wondering what subjects do you think I should take?
I have to take atleast 7 subjects across the following areas :
Quote:
Group I: Languages
Group II: Humanities and Social Sciences
Group III: Sciences
Group IV: Mathematics
Group V: Creative, Technical and Vocational
2/7 subjects have to be languages.

Here are the subjects offered :
Quote:Languages
various, don't need to list them all

Mathematics

[*]Mathematics(Standard Level)
[*]International Mathematics
[*]Additional Mathematics

Sciences

[*]Agriculture
[*]Biology
[*]Chemistry
[*]Environmental Management
[*]Food and Nutrition
[*]Physical Education
[*]Physical Science
[*]Physics
[*]Science - Combined
[*]Sciences - Co-ordinated (Double)
[*]Sciences (Triple)
Biology
Chemistry
Physics

Social Sciences

[*]Accounting
[*]Business Studies
[*]Child Development
[*]Commerce(Edexcel)
[*]Development Studies
[*]Economics
[*]Enterprise
[*]Sociology
[*]Travel and Tourism

Humanities

[*]Bangladesh Studies
[*]Geography
[*]Global Perspectives
[*]History
[*]India Studies
[*]Pakistan Studies
[*]Religious Studies

Arts And Technology

[*]Computer Studies
[*]Design and Technology
[*]Information and Communication Technology
[*]Art and Design
[*]Drama
[*]Music

I'm thinking of taking these subjects:
  • English - First Language
  • German - Foreign Language
  • Mathematics(Standard Level)
  • Additional Mathematics
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Accounting
  • Business Studies
  • Economics
  • Computer Studies
I'm not 100% sure of accounting, business studies and economics though.

Thoughts?

In this order:
Spanish (vast #/girls)
Russian (girls)
Mandarin (vast #s/economy)
German, French (same level)
Arabic, Japanese

Though I didn't follow this this advice 100%, as I started with German and will be skipping Spanish (temporarily) for Russian, for my assault of the FSU in 2014. It is just my recommendation, when starting from scratch.
