I was fortunate enough to get a 2 week assignment at the US Embassy in Mexico City at my job. I'm here now and It may be too soon to say, but I love Mexico City!

First, there's a lot of hot mami's here. A lot. And they're all pretty much down. They always keep eye contact and some of them even smile. I haven't felt so much love from the opposite sex since Europe.

Second, I was worried about racism here because of what I've been told. But from what I've seen so far, Mexicans here are way warmer and friendlier than Americans back home. Some subscribe to the lighter skin = wealth/status bullshit. But most don't I think. I don't get the impression that people are afraid of me like I do in the states, I don't get the impression that guys hate me. It's all good. There's some excitement from Mexicans who have never seen a good looking, well dressed black dude before, but it's not racism at all. It's just excitement and curiousity. Nobody will refuse to speak to you.

Third, there's a huge openly gay and lesbian scene going on here. It seems a lot of the people, especially the older men, have adopted a live and let live policy. I don't speak much Spanish so I don't know what they're really saying, but it doesn't seem hostile. This is rare.

Fourth, it's super ghetto here in some places. Pretty violent, and that's coming from a guy who grew up in tough North Philly. There are some places you want to avoid at night.

Lastly I get the vibe from here that I could do some really good things. It seems to be one of those twilight zone type of places, at least for me, where I get eyeball fucked by girls of all persuasions. Even white American chicks at the embassy are all of a sudden noticing me. Nothings changed. Just location.

Anyway I just got here. This is just stuff I've observed so far. I'll post back later once I check out more of the nightlife.

The cops could be a problem. They love to hit up Americans for "infractions" all the time. It's essentially a bribe for being in their country. Some of my Mexican friends born in the states stopped driving their own vehicle down there because they were constantly getting pulled over because they have American plates on their vehicle.

Keep us posted for sure. Personally my treatment in Latin America including Mexico has been consistent. Pretty much indifference for the most part. They don't seem like they hate me, but aren't exactly treating me like a rockstar either. So pretty much no different than at home for me. Lots of curiosity glances of course.

Man I'm so whipped and beat down from DC all I need is a glance and I'm on it! lol. And the capital just has soooo many good looking girls, I run into 8's and 9's quite often here who are giving and holding eye contact. Do you speak Spanish? The few girls I've approached spoke NO English but they were still kinda keen, really giggly and smiley. The only brothers I've seen here are at the embassy so they probably rarely see black Americans down here and could be the reason for all the attention. I get the impression that language is the biggest barrier, and that they care about the green more than any other color.

I've heard the neighborhood Condesa is one of the better parts of the city. Can you investigate? Curious about women and the coolness/aesthetic of the neighborhood.

I can have a very basic conversation in Spanish, but nothing too heavy. Haven't been to D.F. yet but it's on my radar. There and Guadalajara.

It's hard to generalize about how black dudes will do in Latin America, because a Chris Brown or Will Smith looking dude is going to get a completely different reaction from women than Seal or Wesley Snipes looking guy. And within the U.S. Chris Brown and Wesley Snipes see themselves as the same ethnicity even though they look completely different as far as their mixture.

Like in most of undeveloped world the wealth is important. Presenting yourself as a wealthy high class man will give you a lot of advantages compared to the locals.

Nice! DF is sick man. Stayed a long weekend in Zona Rosa a couple weeks ago, and dude, your right about it being gay. I mean it was gayer than Castro District, in San Fransisco. But ya buena onda. You gota love those Chilangas runnin around with insane bodies and that jet black hair...

Laner, I can only assume you have either never been to DF, or you are talking about some other Mexico city, perhaps in New Mexico, US? Some barrios in the Federal District are straight Favela status. Match that to the thousands of kids 4-12 yrs old living in the streets? Anybody who has ever been knows how poor it can get. I dont want to start drama, but what you said is asinine. Granted, there are some of the wealthiest people in the world living and doing business in DF, people like Carlos Slim, and other people making personal donations to restore parts of the city, but dude you seriously just said Mexico City IS NOT poor??

When I was in Mexico City for about 4-5 days a few years ago, I stayed in the business district (St. Regis) and had a driver, so to me it was upscale I walked/jogged around the Zona Rosa since it was basically around the corner from my hotel, I just went to get tacos and there were a few bars and good restaurants around there, not my scene though as far as nightlife, but I liked the food in the area. Lot of mexican hipsters out there.

Most everything around was kind of dead when i was there, I did end up in Condesa at a strip of bars (they had an irish bar) and they had a bunch of nightlife around there, but I didn't know much spanish. Hit up the W bar too, which was completely dead when I was there. Polanco, everything seemed to close up pretty early. We ended up getting taken at a strip club with $20 shots of tequila, thinking they were $2 each...oops.

Man I am so loving the fact the chicks make and hold eye contact, and pretty much expect you to man up and talk to them. Why the fuck don't American girls do this? Why don't a lot of EU girls do this? Are Latin girls just more DTF or what? Girls here just convey that they want you, if they want you. It's awesome

I ran some game on a few chicas but haven't been to any clubs yet. It helps to say you work at the embassy, and it helps to say you're not gonna take off in 2 weeks. A memorable set was one where I just planted myself next to a girl while waiting for my co-workers by sombrero's at a street store. She didn't run away (which is what an American girl would do) and was very keen on having a convo. I just opened with asking her what she was eating and went from there. I haven't pulled the trigger yet and actually bounced anybody. I'm still not confident enough in my Spanish to be able to hold a 30 minute convo. But it's totally possible.

Man I've never been flirted with so much and so openly. I met with some really cute and sexy Mexicanas this evening at a local bar here in Zona Rosa. They were pretty much DTF but didn't wanna come across as slutty so we exchanged numbers and emails and promised to meet tomorrow. Both of them were DTF. Both of them wanted pictures with me and both of them fought over who gets my facebook deets first. Then while they went to the bathroom, another Mexican chick came up and started talking to me and took the girls seats. The girls came back, and I was expecting a cat fight. Good shit man. I knew one girl from Mexico City back home and she was smokin. Made out with her once at the bar but she straight up told me that she could have any guy she wanted at the bar, and it was true. Couldn't close the deal, but maybe when I head back home I can make another run at it.

No, and that's severly hurting my game. All the gringos at the embassy speak Spanish, and it's almost a requirement to get a job there.

I can attest to a similar experience yesterday. Man if I wasnt tired from all day walking and had little more CITY awareness and better LOGISTICAL understanding.. more than anything.. NOT DOUBTED their CHILL APPROACH and DTFness.. it was Fools mate that I missed.
