Some lesbians already have these kinds of arrangements. They don't want to go the anonymous sperm donor route, so they find some male friend that they really like and trust to father the child. They probably draw up some legal document to lay out his rights as the biological father, and they allow him to be the male influence in the child's life.

We may have touched on this on other threads some time ago here. That if a guy really wants to be a father, but without the marriage/relationship, they would consider knocking up a chick they wouldn't mind sharing child rearing with. Again, have a custody agreement drawn up, and you get the joy of raising your kid without all the marriage anguish.

It sounds like something gay couples would do not straight couples especially if gay marriage/adoption becomes illegal. They can't marry eachother so they bang a female friend to have a kid and vise versa.

Still. Hollywood keeps coming out with the dumbest shit possible and you already know that they're going to fall in love even though it looks like she could be his mom.

In the second case, there was a video I saw about it a while back.

So he was nice enough to give them his sperm, be in the child's life as a male role model, and when the lesbian couple breaks up and suddenly there's no longer a dual income, the lady hits him up for child support. Granted, it was only 250 bucks a month, but that is based on his income level, the income level of the woman with primary custody, etc. If he was better off financially, they would probably have gotten much more. They had a contract, but the judge ruled that the welfare of the child supersedes all else in the case. So the contract was thrown out. Same thing can be done with prenups, but we all knew that already.

The ONLY reason I would do it is if there was a hefty sum of money coming my way and I would have no parental rights OR responsibilities. Or if I was permanently moving out of the country.

Type in "Tom Leykis child support" on youtube. Listen to the man. It's a radio show, so he has to beef up the theatrics, but a lot of what he says can be boiled down to realizing there are some scandalous women out there, realizing that the laws in this country favor women, watching your back and not letting your emotions get the best of you.

I would actually seriously consider something like this, including paying child support. If I want a kid but don't want a wife, this is the route I would go. As a matter of fact, I can think of several quality women that would go for this. It is probably the safest way to have a child who is genetically mine, without dealing with a marriage.

I have zero problem paying for my child and making sure he has a good life, as long as I am an integral part of it. When my parents split up, my own father (who makes in the mid 6 figures) had zero problem paying for private schools from elementary school through college. My dad was also always there when I needed him or needed someone to put a boot in my ass.

Mom never had to go to court for child support or anything. If it was for my benefit he had no problem paying for it. I remember when I was looking at colleges I told him about one school that offered me a ton of scholarship money. He told me "You don't need money from a mediocre school to go to college. Pick the best school you can get into. The tuition is none of your concern." The dude went so far as to get me my own apartment in college and a nice little allowance. When I actually added up all of the money he spent on me I felt guilty. I talked to him about it and he said it was the best money he ever spent.

With all of that, the dude still had his single life and was able to pick up fine ass women. For me personally, I have no desire for a wife, but do have some desire for a child. I really can't think of a better arrangement if you want a kid.

Your parents are very rare. Usually women dash to court to serve the dad with child support papers. More couples SHOULD do this, but women are largely selfish, greedy and vindictive. Couples talk about doing what's best to best co-parent their kids, but kids end up simply being pawns in an extended fight. Good for you and your parents. At the same time, if a woman makes a good salary, a man shouldn't have to pay child support to her. Instead, agree on what expenses you'll cover for the kid (like anything education-related, etc.). If you have joint custody, why should you pay her for her time with the child if you're sharing custody?

Oh man. There's a whole organisation disseminating information on this. I think it's called "Single Mothers by Choice". I knew a (straight - presumably)woman who was seriously considering going through with it. In the end she had the good sense not to. But only after speaking to a couple of woman who did intentionally have kids while single, through known/unknown sperm donors, and came close to nervous breakdowns because of the subsequent exhaustion and lack of coping.

Any man who becomes a "known donor" under these circumstances is a fool. The contract they signed is just that, a contract. Doesn't mean a judge years later won't disregard it "in the interests of the child" and order child support to be paid.

This is becoming increasingly risky for men. I think some states are considering allowing kids to be able to access information about their biological fathers after a number of years if they wish. But again, because women don't want to shoulder the responsibility for their decisions, a guy that jerked off into a cup for a few bucks then gets punished. I read a story some time ago (it may have been in the NY Times) that a group of women that had used the same anonymous donor get together with the children so they can all meet and spend time with their "siblings." If judges are going to make it about the best interests of the child, singles shouldn't be allowed to use anonymous donors to have children in the first place.

Maybe this is good way to have kids without getting married?

I've heard that in the long run, "friendly romance" is more important then "romantic romance". Meaning, all the lovey-dovey stuff will wear off but if you and your friend have have common interests and hobbies, the relationship might be more solid.

The fact there is even a discussion about this demonstrates how fucked up marriage is and how shitty the normal woman is.

Personally, no I would not. The risks are too high as others have mentioned. Family law courts have shown time and time again that they will rip up whatever documents, promises, career, life, etc. "for the good of the child". Even if the judge's decision is more in favor of the woman to sit on her ass. I believe some women have even managed to get sperm donors to pay child support.

Actually this is not the worst idea ever. One of the problems with sperm donorship is the (fairly high) chance of these donor kids once grown up will hook up with one another without knowing that their girl/boy -friend is also their half sister/brother. Because, as much as women like to think they are unique, they all tend to choose from amongst the same very small pool of men to be their sperm donor.

Apparently there is some sort of biological attraction mechanism that would draw them to one another (like attracts like) if they are unaware of their biological relationship. Of course the actual knowledge that they are half-siblings would tend to, ummmm, decrease that likelihood. Spending time together when very young (0-6 years old) also eliminates that possibility.

I actually thought it was a great idea. Mainly because the circumstances of their births was unusual (sperm donation, no real dad). That can be difficult for these children, as they see other kids with their dads around. To have them meet other children that share the same circumstances, and to know they are related, maybe makes them feel less odd and gives them other kids to connect to.

Well guys, as a fellow RooshV forum member you know I'm against this "man up" shit, but when it comes to your kids I gotta say really, man up and stay with their mother. If you find a way to discreetly get some pussy on the side - sure, go for it.
But to lead the life of an international traveling playboy or whatever, while some single ho is raising your children - I think that's not being a good dad.
Being a good dad means being there for them all the time - when they need help with homework, when someone is bullying them in school, when they have a sports event - anything that they have happening to them every day, they need to share it with their Dad. If Dad is unavailable because he is in Colombia banging hoes - sorry, he is not being a good Dad.

Also, your platonic friend will be platonic with you, but you can't expect her to be platonic altogether - she will be banging other dudes. So some player will be coming home to you kids and they will be put to bed early so he can bang Mommy - how on Earth do you thing this sets up a good example for your kids?

Then, for this to happen, the selection of the mother has to be very carefully vetted.
Some women (especially in these Anglo countries) are truly poisoned to believe that men are no more than a sperm donor. They (foolishly) believe that they can raise the child themselves. It doesn't matter how noble the intent of the man is, if the lizard doesn't want to co-operate, there ain't shyt he can do. The best thing he can do is get out before he ends up doing something irreparable to the mother (and possibly the child too).
