Sex 3.0 is closing the gap on 48 Laws of Power and I don't think that's a good thing. I've read the Sex 3.0 blog, it's good stuff but it's not very practical for "Self Improvement", nor does it have much for readers to put into practice. 48 Laws of Power > Sex 3.0

Have not read 48 Laws of Power so I can't compare the two but to say that Sex 3.0 is not very practical for self improvement is ridiculous. Its the best book out there for un-brain washing yourself and your sexual partners of the modern ails of the Sex 2.0 world that we all live in.

Would not worry about the vote anyway, we can cover both books. Does not really matter what order we do it in.

This. I don't think the 48 Laws is something that you smoothly read cover to cover, there is a lot to digest. I don't think guys will be reading it at the same pace, some guys may zip through while others will want to read it more slowly.

Slightly OT, the problem with Robert Greene is that he has a brilliant mind and no experience. Imagine a blind man painting the Mona Lisa. I watched a video interview of him, and I highly doubt he is a modern Casanova. Which would explain why his book on seduction is filled with such generalities. The most effective way to read it is to fill in your own experiences that prove his lessons correct.

That said, it's incredible that he managed to write such an impressive and valid piece of work, without having gone into the trenches. He may be a keyboard jockey of the highest order, but it's not such a bad thing when you're brilliant and you get everything right. Just know that it's possible to read his work and not take anything away from it, not take any plans you can act on.

That said, I've only read his 48 Laws and Art of Seduction.

Agreed with what has been said about 48 laws of power. It has great parables and life lessons, but damn, it's gonna be tough to slog through it! I've tried and failed twice now. I ended up reading what the 48 laws were on wiki. Feel like i saved myself a whole bunch of time. Wiki summarized the book in 48 lines haha. Anyway, maybe the book club will be the motivation I need to pick it up and read the entire thing.

I find Kindle to be better in all aspects. Being able the adjust the font size alone makes it worth it. Now add into that the fact it takes about 90 seconds to get a book through wifi vs going to a store/library. Yeah, I wouldn't read without it.

45 votes now - just 4 votes or 10% separating 48 Laws from Sex 3.0 I think both titles are deserving of the RVF Book Club.

There have been some solid comments about 48 Laws being a long and tough read which I agree with - which is why rather than 2 weeks or a month to read it I propose 48 days. Read through one law each day. For those without the time to read through or who have read it before and do not want to tackle it again, follow along with the summaries and thoughts of us who are reading and chime in.

How about Friday 16th we kick off with 48 Laws as our test run, round zero. Reading a law per day will take us through to around May 2nd.

For those who can handle two books at once or do not want to read 48 Laws lets start Round 1 reading Sex 3.0 on 1st of April.

What say you all?

It's great for guys who haven't taken the "red pill". But if you've been reading Roosh or Roissy for a while there isn't anything new. It's like preaching to the choir if we cover it.

P Dog, it's cool if you don't want to read it, hopefully you can get something from 48 Laws and perhaps Round 2 will bring something you approve of. You have already shared your point of view (without any credible argument or having read the book) why the need to talk people out of it?

Anyone against the idea I mentioned above of starting 48 Laws this Friday and reading a law each day for 48 days while starting Sex 3.0 on 1st April?

Edit: I suggest we have a fresh vote every month for the book. To keep things in line with the book clubs "opinions" and such. We might get sick of non-fiction or game relevant books are try something new instead. So we should have the freedom of a regular vote.

Sweet so reading our first book 48 Laws of Power is under way here - get on it. One law per day should be achievable for most and for those who are unable to then read along with our findings in the thread.

We shall re-evaluate our next book closer to end of the month, I have looked in to Sex 3.0 a bit and have some concerns.

I'll put in a vote for Kitchen Confidential. I'm reading it right now, about half way done, and it has been thoroughly entertaining. There have even been several points where I've laughed out loud. It's rare that a book is able to do that.

I will say that I don't know if there's a lot to take away from it from a self-development point of view. You'd really have to read between the lines to learn from the mistakes Bourdain makes in his early 20s or to see the way he was hustling and working towards his dreams even though he was more-or-less nothing more than a junkie.

But then again, I am only halfway through the book and at this point he is still in his early 20s and basically living a rockstar type lifestyle (minus any money, status, or fame) and not really giving a shit about anything but getting high and partying. I would guess there might be some lessons learned in the second half of the book as he emerges from his debauchery and actually becomes incredibly successful.
