Spent a long part of my teenage and age 20-21 trying to be "Mr cool aloof" at a bar. Didn't talk much, just tried looking cool.
got a rare IOI or two, Remained a virgin.

Decided to go to clubs and bars, and start being social and extroverted. Started approaching much more naturally and smoother, witter and flirtier, because the social juices had been spinning and i wasn't trapped hopelessly in my head.
Began getting laid.

I actually have the exact opposite response. Instead of asking, I get lost in my head.

I talked to EVERYBODY the first time I went to Brazil and didn't have an issue with it, when normally I get lost in my head. I was stumbling through conversations with a mashup of portuguese, spanish and english and the people were extremely nice and patient. I'm not talking about the garotas on ipanema beach either.
