Moderately direct, self aware opener
I'm a scientist and so I loved the following line from the movie A Beautiful Mind:

Quote:Nash: I don't exactly know what I am required to say in order for you to have intercourse with me. But could we assume that I said all that. I mean essentially we are talking about fluid exchange right? So could we go just straight to the sex.

Of course he gets slapped.

This is obviously a long-winded Apocalypse Opener.

My hypothetical opener would be based on extended eye contact. My challenge is that when I get extended eye contact I start processing, trying to think of something to say and by the time I do, if I do, the moment is lost. Therefore this would be a canned opener that I could go to without thinking.

I can do cocky funny with a smirk all day, but I have to have confidence in what I'm saying. Therefore:

I understand that extended eye contact is a sign that a girl is interested in you. I think it's nonsense. What do you think?

Anybody ever try something like this?

My thinking is that it gets the introduction over with, acknowledges her interest and is in the format of "statement, statement, question".

Help me dissect this please. Good, bad, indifferent?

Keep it simple "Its not polite to stare you know" When I've used this girls usually try to be snarky and say something like "Oh is that so" Then validate her with something like "good thing I dont critique politeness that heavily" Or my favorite, subtract points from an arbitrary system of rating and tell her "Yeah, thats minus 2 points already, you're off to a bad start"

What I'm taking away from your comment is that you're hoping for her to snark so you can tease her as a follow-up. Is that correct?

Perhaps I need to recalibrate.

I struggle with how to follow an introduction and I know that if the conversation dies it's bad news. My assumption (perhaps erroneous) is that if she's looking at me then she wants to talk with me and all I have to do is make the first move. Then there will be pleasantries and the conversation will continue.

However, that goes against everything I've read here on the forum. Smart-ass is my home turf with people I know. Now that I think of it, I've had really good initial success with smart-ass openers with people I don't know. I'm afraid of them because conditioning says being a smart-ass won't get you anywhere... or so my old man used to tell me.

A couple of weeks ago I was out with my nephew (he's 28, I'm 49) at a brewpub and a woman walked up to the bar with two growlers that she wanted to get refilled. I looked over briefly and said "nice jugs". She laughed and we could have gone from there but I had no logistics that night.

Ah see your older then I am, so the game is different for you. As a young guy dealing with young women I dont hope for the girl to be snarky, I know the girl is gonna be snarky.

Smart-ass is good, as long as you dont go over her head. I think a good opener is one that COULD be misconstrued, but usually wont, like your "nice jugs" line. A girl could take that completely the wrong way, but if she has any sense she wont.

You're correct. Women don't look at you for fun. It's their way of saying "Come talk to me, I like what I see".

Don't let shitty logistics hold you back from pushing forward. Even if you can't pull a SNL, you can still shoot for the number. If you don't get the number, you still got the experience.
