Anyone ever been downtown in Montreal before?

The club scene I hear is extremely lively... and on the younger side. The laws governing the area seem very liberal. I'm 20 and going there with my friends who are both 21. We're staying the weekend - Friday and Saturday night - next month in the Red Light District (Saint Laurent Blvd.) in a cheap but very high-rated hotel.

Couldn't bring ourselves to do a hostel.

None of us speak French, either.

I'm going to be in full on IDGAF mode the entire trip because I know absolutely no one there. Italy and Romania when I was 17 aside, I really haven't ever ran real game in a foreign environment before.

Good time or disaster? (The latter would probably still end up fun)

You will have a very good time . Don't worry I suggest you to go to a depanneur it's the equivalent of a convenience store .They are everywhere, They sell bear . Buy a 24 ,drink it before eleven with your friend at the hotel
and go on St-Laurent and you'll have a multitude of bar you can choose .

You guys are gonna have a blast in Montreal!

Check out HC's data sheet for info on specific venues and locations, you may want to stay around the more Anglo parts of town since you don't speak any French, but no worries if you venture elsewhere, Montreal is a very safe city, even by Canadian standards.

Some tips:
-dress well
-tip well
-don't forget that you're in a foreign country, act accordingly.
-don't get too cocky with the locals and watch out when you're staggering around St. Laurent, Ste. Catherines after the bars close.

Lots of under-21 Americans come up there for the weekend like you guys are doing, most with no problems at all, some get beat up for mouthing off while drunk, or ripped off when buying dope. Yes you'll see younger girls at the bars because the drinking age is 18 (you'll probably see even younger than that at some places).

-eat some poutine, drink some strong Quebec beer (Fin Du Monde, etc)
-I think you should check out the Peel pub for some cheap binge drinking (1196 Rue Pee)
-Since you mentioned Red Light district (I don't know if i'd call it that really), check out some strip clubs for full contact $10/song lap dances, its safe, cheap and fun times with the boys.

Then write up a data sheet on here about the good times you had!

bonne chance
