You know damn well anyone controlling the bar is going to end up with some fine tail when the doors close. You come, tend bar meet a girl then leave when you want with her. The back-up will be on standby to cover you. The bar duties are superficial. It's a game. Bar owner in from out of town = instant DHV. Hook up and go on a boat ride. Fail? Come back and do it again. The place in Safety harbor...First Tuesday of the month you will sell at least 2k in beer. You can drink on the streets. Just fill tubs out front. If you can make some good carry around food? add another 2k

Right now my liquidity is tight. Without going into details, an "investment" is going to be paying off near the end of Q4. When it does, I'll be interested.

Great idea EM, you know I'll be hitting up this place every xmas when I'm down there visiting the folks!

Guys, the Tampa Bay area is great place, I'm considering buying some real estate down there, the deals are amazing. I haven't been to a lot of places in the USA but this area does it for me; good weather, great (cheap) golfing, NHL hockey, awesome beaches and the locals are very down to earth and friendly.

You need to reread that. Expenses for insurance, etc is about $40/day.

Obviously inventory is going to be more than that but that is where you make money...

i still don't see how $40 a day is gonna cover all the other non-inventory expenses though, you are gonna be paying close to half that on the electric bill alone aren't you (considering it is also an apartment with mutiple people possibly living in it)? Can you even get a single employee for each shift for that little of an amount?

I just don't see how the math adds up here....if it only costs $40 bucks a day to run a bar there, why are people lining up to get rid of theirs?

Barkeeps make tips. That's it and they will stand inline for that easy job. The power bill will be 300 max in the summer after I tighten up the units. No problem.

I've considered going into this biz in the past but bars go for big money up here in the Northwoods. Ideally, if I get this biz I'm doing currently going to the point I want it I plan to move south. Was thinking of a bar in the DR possibly, but this sounds better. Not that I've given either an in depth look but on the surface it looks like a good deal.

Only concern I would have is WHY they are selling so cheap. Businesses usually sell based on past income which tells me they haven't done well. I know the plan isn't to make a fortune, but I simply can't own a biz and NOT make money.

edit-I know some bar owners and they can smash about as much as they want. (Why else would I want to own one?)

Nobody's buying a biz. We just rent a place where all the shit is there because they failed. The trick is securing the lease long enough to have time to sell because landlords here will like to take your efforts for their own. Seen it. Not gonna happen. This place would be blown off the charts by a collective.

Mech, Im down. As long as people are coming in profit can be made. Just be sure to, as you say, secure the lease so landlords cant snatch it up once it start going upward.

Also, add a clause that ensures that theres no penalty on the leaser if you drop the place, just in case the bar doesnt turns out.

32k for a beachfront bar in full order doesnt seems right. Either the current owner is drinking his own stash, or he cant manage for shit, or the place is too small and he is being outcompeted by bigger, trendier nearby dives, or he runs it as an old people bar with a jukebox full of johnny cash and a tv showing reruns of 80s sitcoms (on mute) that ensure that no one comes trough the door.

G, I believe sharks are too agressive to be kept in a tank, at least the species that you might find handy. Piranhas are recommended, however, I think they are banned in Florida.

In the DR you dont actually need a liquor license to open up a bar

You can pretty much open a bar for free. Might have to bribe someone here or there.

I will probably be in the DR in the next couple of months.

Anyone want to work with me on the DR project?

Beer is around 3 bucks, top shelf drinks around 4 to 7 dollars. I payed 6 for a stoli soda last night and it didn't sit right with me. The place lets underage people in so they raised the prices. I texted the owner and told him to blow me for 6 bucks. I was there because I pulled at the first place and bounced closer to my house but the local drinkers wont frequent places with prices that high. The bars here that are cheap are packed on my way to work in the morning.

You can rent a REAL nice house here for 700 a month. the guy that worked for me rents his on the lake for 500 with my reference. He pays his rent.

My friend owns the bar on the corner and has security cameras on the cash register and all over the bar. They are linked into a real time website so he watches them at home. We could install this with passwords for the members so you can watch the pulls/brawls and the pussy traffic. Even have one switched so you can make your own porn in the back room if you like. Ali-b knows how to do this stuff.
