Date question - urgent!
Hey everyone I need some opinions,

So I've been on one date with this girl, which to say the least went really well. Cool chick, good-looking, etc.

Since then I hadn't talked to her in about two weeks (I've been extremely busy/out of town) so I sent her a text to try to get together before she goes out of town--she's leaving for an out of town training class for two weeks this Friday. She said her week is packed trying to get ready but let's try to do dinner one night this week. I told her Wednesday night worked for me (it's really my only open slot), she said no problem, just that it's ladies night and she had plans to go drink with her friends later that night (9-ish). I hesitantly agreed to book the date anyway since I really don't have any other time and she'll be leaving so I wanted to see her.

The problem is I don't want to be seen as the free meal (assuming I end up paying) before she heads out to party with her friends. Any advice on how to make her blow off ladies night? Should I just cancel? My first thought was that the ladies night thing was just a false time constraint to make it appear as though she was too busy to agree to a last minute date.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Sean

You are kind of screwed.

There is nothing worse than being a "pre-date" to an evening.

Unless of course you think you can swoop her and send her on her way in the limited time frame.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Should I just cancel and try to hook back up with her when she get's back? At this point if I do end up meeting up with her there is no way we're going to dinner. Fuck that. Maybe just happy hour and playing in the rain for a bit.

Havent been here for a while, but wanted to comment on this, since i've been there done that. My short response would be cancel, tell her have a nice trip, and regroup upon return. Like the G says, pre-date is worse than no-date - at least that's my knee jerk reaction these days. Classic girly stuff by the way:

"She said her week is packed trying to get ready"
vs.
"it's ladies night and she had plans to go drink with her friends later that night (9-ish)"

She texted me to ask what time we were doing dinner. I said let's ax dinner and do something more fun. She agreed so now what we're doing is up in the air, which is where I'm at my best-randomness. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Thanks for the advice.

So you're going to take her to dinner knowing that there is a near 100% chance you won't get more than a kiss?

Definitely cancel. Say something came up and try to hit her up after her ladies night when she's all liquored up

Maybe try to do something more casual like a drink and a walk in a park.

Then try to get a blower in the park before she has to leave.

We're not going to dinner anymore, just doing something casual. I made plans with some friends for later in the evening, so I may try to hit her up again later in the night.

RE: Date question - urgent!
So an update:

Went with my instincts, didn't cancel. Picked her up, had a drink at her place, were going to get drinks but I was hungry so we got some food (nothing fancy). Went to a local dive and got more drinks. 9pm comes around, then 10, then 11, then midnight, her girlfriends are blowing up her phone trying to get her to meet up with them, but she keeps giving them the "maybe later." Guess she couldn't get enough of my casual charm and conversation. I never once asked or even suggested that she should blow off her friends on ladies night, just a casual take it or leave, "i don't care" attitude. Needless to say we ended up back at her place and...done deal.

Thanks again for the advice, guys.

Nice!

Sounds like she was just playing coy with the whole "ladies night" bullshit. Which is funny, because whenever Ive gone to a ladies night with a bunch of women they always end up talking about hooking up with guys.

I'll go ahead and file this under the "I will do whatever I damn well please and hook up with you anyway" category.

Nice work!Banana

RE: Date question - urgent!
You know what, it sounds like a test nowadays when a girl is asking to see if you want to go on a dinner date. No one finds them appealing as a first date now (or ever) so it's just a way to see if you're a chump. I'm guessing by showing that you're not into a dinner date you passed a test.
