I read some of these on the in-flight service with Singapore air. They are SICK.... basically they take 30 of the best business books in various fields each year, and break them down to an 8-page summary or a 20 minute MP3. They also have author interviews and webinars. You can get a sample summary by putting your email in.

Many great biz books are actually just a few core ideas hashed out and repeated to fill out a book. e.g. "The Long Tail", the basic premise is that the internet has reduced barriers to entry and overhead costs, and so opened up the "long tail" of consumer demand, making online niche businesses very viable. You can absorb this concept effectively in a few pages without having to read an entire book.

It also allows you to decide which books are really important to read, and the ones you do go on to read you'll have better reading comprehension because you've had an exposure to the concepts ahead of time.

I learned alot in 2 hours on the plane so I'm thinking about their subscription. $99 for the year, or $199 a year if you want access to their entire backlog. Looks like a great time-efficient way to learn.

Yep sure - I loved the summaries of Seth Godins Purple Cow and Meatball Sunday (and I think those sort of "one concept" books are PERFECT for the summary format). I think he's a real thought-leader who "gets it"

Also currently reading Education of Millionaires which is awesome for biz owners or freelancers. Very focussed on the REAL practical skills you personally need to make your way in the world today (networking, sales, marketing yourself, your personal brand). Really liking that one.

This thread reminded me to bump this little gold nugget that never really got off the ground. I was going to bring it back to life last June, but got hurt. I'll be back on track for some of the summaries in a month or so. Has anyone been using this?

edit-Damn, just realized this thread got moved into the KA&L. I hate posting in this section cause all the smart kids hang out here I and feel all out of place.
