Good to read your reports from the field. How do you rate the girls in terms of looks so far? Are you in Seoul? Also, are you white or black? Did you notice that whites or blacks get a better reception in Korea by the general population and the females?
Btw, how long was the training at your school? Did they threw you in the trenches right away? How are you liking/enjoying teaching? Are you teaching kids? pre-teens or teens?

Women on a whole are ugly.

70% of the females are 4-

20% of the females are 5

10% of the females are 6

3% of the females are 6+

What I mean by 6+ is chicks that look like kPop singers and actresses. I'll attach a picture so you can get an idea of what im talking about. I have yet to see one of these females.

Now those percentages changes for nightlife as more of the better looking stylish chicks go out to the bars / clubs. What I mean by that is you will see alot more 5's and 6's out at night.

I am in Busan. Second largest city (4mil+) on the beach. All the chicks in Korea normally end up moving to Seoul or Busan.

Im white. Only seen one black guy and he wasnt a teacher at the immigration office. Looked and sounded like some con artist from London originally from Nigeria or some shit. I honestly dont think any foreigner is gonna be sought after or held as DHV in the eyes of 80% of the population. They a very homogeneous society, they love there kpop and actors and view that "look" as the most desirable.

I did 2 days of observing the other 3 foreign teachers (thur & fri) then started on monday,

It is straight, I have never done anything like this before soo im still getting use to it. To give you an idea of my day

2pm - Go in and make a lesson plan for my boss (I teach 2 sections so I only make 2 lessons)

3pm - 8pm - I teach six 45 minute classes. Each class has a workbook that we have to complete. So each day I will have them do about 3-4 pages. Then go over the answers with them. They usually get done pretty fast so we end up playing games and shit. On fridays I actually have to make a test for the 2 sections based off the weeks lessons.

I teach kids aged 9-11.

How well your job / day will be is greatly affected by how your kids are. Loud disrespectful kids that dont wanna do their work or listen to you can make the class a living hell. I only have 1 class that gives me problems. 10 boys 1 girl. Boys are a handful to control but to their credit have been getting better each day.

I know exactly what you mean. I was teaching some European kids from the ages of 13-17 years old this summer and I wanted to slap the taste out their mouths.

Yeah, those kids can be little hellions. Tell you the truth, I love when there are bad kids in my class. Some of the shit they come up with to throw at me is genuinely funny, and I enjoy throwing it right back at them.

Busan has some beautiful women, but on average, its women are substandard compared with other areas of the country. I should have been more clear about that in my original review of this city, but I'd just arrived here and had an early string of good luck. Tell you the truth, the nightlife here is dominated by dudes sitting around in their circles drinking together. Don't get discouraged though, you'll find your niche, it takes a while.

My first time here was in a city called Daejeon. My co-workers were mostly pseudo-intellectual hipster types who probably never approached a girl in their lives. it took me a good 2 months to get in my groove. Now, every time I've taken a trip up to my old stomping grounds, I get some type of action without fail.

You're right that a majority of Korean girls are only into Korean dudes, but a lot of that has to do with societal standards, which are changing, as well as shyness about speaking another language. Probably around 40 %, maybe more, are open to foreigners, and there's a smaller minority who actively seek foreigners.

I remember my first month in Korea was pretty discouraging- once you know your way around- first the city of Busan and later, the entire country, I think that you'll probably have a different perspective. remember Roosh's post- just keep going.

The job is starting to wear on me.

The kids have zero respect for foreign teachers.

They dont care about their work.

Telling them something not to do and within 2 seconds they are back to doing it.

Not sure if ill be able to hold out for a year.

Looks like I might be back in Colombia alot sooner than expected!

Welcome to the wonderful world of teaching!

Now you can see why I stopped, or why I wish I had only stuck to teaching adults, haha.

I would have thought Koreans to be more well-behaved than Colombians, but maybe that's just a stereotype talking.

Kids need a lot of activities and games. Try to do projects where they can talk about their interests. As long as they are doing something in English, try to steer the classwork in their direction as much as possible, so they can talk about their favorite K-pop singers or whatever hobbies they have.

Also, my most successful activities were always board games like Scattergories or Taboo that I adapted to be a competitive class activity. Usually the most obnoxious students end up being the best at these games and try to showoff. Beats having them mouth off or otherwise disrupt class.

Is it me or is that hot chick in the purple dress in above pic part/half Caucasian? I know most models in Japan are "hapa"-- half caucasian.

I would imagine they are, as Dash is saying, rare, sought after and hard to get.

Maybe in Thailand more of the women look naturally hapa without truly being so?

You just have to have thick skin and not let it bother you and just go along with your lesson. Sometimes they act up because they don't like the material or they aren't challenged enough.

Like Ajiaco was saying it is good to put it in a context that interests them. Does your school make you go by the book for everything? You should do what everything you think is the best decision for you but it would be good to seek advice from more experienced teachers you meet and see how they deal with it. Also how was that hip hop club you went to?

Dash- You should be a bit more patient. When I was there, it took a solid 3 weeks till I fucked a Korean. I literally approached well over 100 broads until I got one. My experience was a bit different than yours.. I'm a white guy- plenty of girls would make eye contact with me. I got numbers during the day, and went out with girls at night. But I'm 6ft. tall, am well built, and have a bit of a NYC style, so I stand out a lot wherever I go in Asia. I was also in Seoul... I've heard that when it comes to pick up, Busan doesn't even compare to Seoul. Ya, Korean broads are shy.. it helps to be super indirect with them. Don't give up so soon.. K girls have ultra tight pussies, it'll be worth it. As with any large city, it's a numbers game.

Also, to whoever is concerned about Koreans be racist towards black people- when I was in Seoul I met this skinny black guy with a huge afro.. this guy was CLEANING UP over there.

I have pretty thick skin but it is like fuck the whole class is talking amongst themselves, not listening to what im saying, dont care about their work, and just will not follow instructions. We have cameras in every classroom and im worried they will see what is going on and think im some bad teacher ect and fire me.

I mean I can brush it off and go wit the flow but it my managers are giving me shit and micro managing me than i def will not be able to hold out long.

I just cant get over the fact that the kids pretty much ignore an authoritative adult figure in a school setting. And thats with me getting loud and shit.

I got to be here atleast 3-4 months total so you guys are gonna get the low down on Korea regardless.

That is unless I get fired or something.

I tried to tell ya Dash, living in Asia is a whole new game and most don't last. The age group you are teaching is one of the hardest too. I hated my first year in Asia, second year was ok and after that I liked it. It is basically the opposite of Latin America and it takes a loong time to get the hang of it. Hang in there and read as much as possible about their culture it will help you in every aspect of living there.

Playing the game slower helped me, Asians don't trust strangers so it takes more time to build comfort. Good luck

The only places id prob like in Asia are Thailand and the Philippines. Maybe Japan depending on the amount of attention the females give out and the ease of ONS's

If you are burned out after a week or so I don't think you will last 3 months. Hope you prove me wrong, obviously I don't know you but my experience tells me if a teacher hates it after a couple of weeks they are gone within 3 months.

Fuck dude. That is bullshit that they have cameras in all the classes. My teaching job in Taiwan will be half adult classes and half children/teenager classes. I arrive there on Friday. I've dealt with teenagers before and they can be a pain in the balls but I know how to manage the class and not let it get to disruptive. Have your managers started giving you shit yet? Also how is the nightlife scene coming along?

I am handcuffed financially until 3-4 months. So I may hate this shit with a passion but at the end of the day money is the number one issue atleast up until my expenses / debts are paid (3-4). But ideally I wanna stay for atleast 6 months. I can last and learn not to give a fuck about if the kids learn or care, it is just im paranoid im gonna get the axe from my employer.

I wish I had teenagers. My kids are all elementary, and alot harder to control. I got observed on my 4th day of teaching for one class. She said I was using to big of words, talking to fast, needed to focus more on the kids not in the front seats. Then on that day we only had one lil tiny story to go over and I was done mad early so I gave them a cross word puzzel and my manager didnt like that. Said that was for fridays when they finish their test early. She hasnt said anything to me since then and that was about a week ago. I just dont wanna be micro managed and shit. Im hoping they leave me alone and let me do my own shit, but Im just paranoid with those damn cameras in every room! lol

The nightlife is GREAT. Granted I only went out twice (gotta watch the money till I get paid) Lots of girls out. The thing is though they just dont give you attention like latinas do. You cant talk to half of them because of the language. Half the girls are simply not interested in foreign guys. But still there is enough of them you can just play the numbers game. I opened each night out and had girls take down my email. Not having a phone is killing me.

I think they consider it rude to look someone directly in the eyes. My Japanese friends said that it took some getting used to when coming over to the states. Must be a cultural thing, is probably the same in Korea.

Everyone says the bedding is terrible in Korea and over priced. They havent seemed to grasp the concept of having nice feeling bedding and blankets.

I got to be comfortable! lol

Goto Daiso (Japanese dollar store in large cities, like SF or Vancouver) and get a bunch of large bedding ziplock bags and the vacuum attachment and suck the air out of your bedding. It will reduce the size to 1/4th to 1/8th of what it was, especially if it was fluffy.
