RE: I'm Leaving the U.S. Mosh Kosh (And Fuck You)
Not going to touch the race issues with a ten foot pole; they're sure to burn this thread into the ground. But...I sense a big disconnect when military guys rant about a system that doesn't care about them while at the same time condemning other men who opted out a long time ago or chose not to serve.
I feel for you Ali and respect the sacrifices you made for your country, whether you made them in good faith or because you saw it as a legitimate career opportunity. As far as I'm concerned, your government used you.
But is it possible men who chose not to play the game or don't contribute to the tax base just became disillusioned before the system had a chance to use and abuse them too?
Both my brothers served (primarily because of a lack of options then rationalized with the concept of patriotism) and are very intelligent guys. One of them has told me on numerous occasions that after seeing how eagerly the military and other government parties throw around "our" money in war zones to justify their budgets and keep the tax money flowing, he recommends everyone milk the system for all it's worth any chance they get.
After all, that's exactly what the system has been doing to us for a long, long time.
I don't bother milking the system myself; I just try to have as little to do with it as possible. It's all a fucking game where men like us have very little to gain. And while I sympathize with your frustration, I don't see much sense in despising others who have been disillusioned by it all for longer than you have and have done what they can to avoid the traps.
We're all in this bitch together...
I hope you find what you're looking for out there, Man. If you really do leave, let me know when those man-boots kick up some dust in Asia.
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Rudyard Kipling

RE: I'm Leaving the U.S. Mosh Kosh (And Fuck You)
So many pieces of shit get benefits from the VA.
Walking into a va hospital makes me cringe. You're treated like shit by a govt employee that can't be fired and you're put at the back of a line with bitches and wimps where their military service was nothing but pushing paper or pumping fucking gas.
They were "soldiers" in name only. Never did a single combat exercise and suck up all the resources.
I'd dx them in a second if I could.
Ali's meltdown is understandable.

Quote:So to be black middle-class means to be within reach of all the handouts laid before black people by the civil rights actions of the decades and simultaneously being viewed with default lack of privilege/access/opportunity due to race.
Interesting but totally incorrect. I think you should find the study "The Mark of the Criminal Record" online.
Here's a money quote:
Quote: Among blacks without criminal records,
only 14% received callbacks, relative to 34% of white noncriminals. In fact, even whites with criminal records received more favorable
treatment (17%) than blacks without criminal records (14%)
Quote:Looking at today's situation without bias, a middle class black individual in America could exploit the hell out of the system with the proper steps.
Look without bias? The hiring managers aren't. They'll hire an ex-con as long he's their race.
Quote:Who really has the upper hand among average white and black males in society? It's hard to say. Complaining about victimhood from either and framing the other as competition is destructive.
Drop your emotional guard and look at the situation for a minute with a "red pill view" as they say around here.
I agree with this. Racial discussions bring out the male hamster. Everyone has their own cross to carry. I've never been White so I'm unqualified to comment on how easy/hard White people have it and the inverse it true for White people re: Blacks.
Everyone is programmed to prefer their own race. Anything like AA or EEO, like most of Western society, is designed to subvert the primal tendencies of our reptilian brain.

My man, there is an entirely new level to this isolation when you fought in a war.
rampant corruption
unnecessary racism
xenophobia
lack of work ethic
uninformed opinions proliferate
lack of empathy in society
unwillingness to sacrifice
lack of honor and loyalty
leadership everywhere is petty, self-involved, fickle, trivial
being wrong, failing when trying, hard work is seen as weakness
Sometimes I think about too much and just need a cigarette. Other times some fat woman in the grocery line holds up 9 people to demand a discount because the yogurt container is slightly bent.
That's probably how I ended up here I think

RE: I'm Leaving the U.S. Mosh Kosh (And Fuck You)
"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.
Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector."

Yeah my bad I wasn't trying to trivialize what you said or anything. I didn't know that you were referring to war specifically and were simply talking about realizing how the world works. I can only imagine how further down the rabbit hole war can take a person.

Thanks for the reasonable reply.
LOL at male hamster. That's probably what it really boils down to.
Now as far as what you said, I still don't necessarily agree with it. Your presented proof helps support my position.
To be utterly fair and honest, I didn't read all of Pager's thesis. I won't claim to have an answer on if job discrimination happens or not. Her methodology was problematic to me. The groups where paired by same race and were tasked out to different job applications.
For research like that to be as accurate as possible on finding how proliferating racism is, you need your control groups to be as identical as possible.
I suggest you and I both look into the Urban Institute study that she mentioned in her own thesis.
http://www.urban.org/UploadedPDF/1001156...nation.pdf
To repeat the same process with minutely altered methods for lesser accuracy seems like dead horse beating for the sake of a dissertation.
