How do you know that the creatures in Eygpt didn't come from the ocean or the sand or some other part of Earth?

Also, do you think Sphinxs were real?

I hate how nobody knows what the fuck is going out there in the universe and we're all guessing. I hope humans meet aliens before we kill ourselves.

Already happened.

I watched Sirius yesterday. It was actually pretty good although the voiceover guy was cheesy as hell. It was a lot to do with the power of oil companies and the banks not giving chances to those people who have discovered/invented/experimented with other sources of fuel. There was a bit of hippy mumbo jumbo going on too where they meditate and "connect remotely" with the galaxy and cosmos which all sounded a bit weird, but interesting nonetheless. They say using energy with their mind, especially in a collective, they can call upon UFOs to come visit them because they react to that energy, and sure enough they show it happening. As the UFO is there, a fighter jet comes within 30 seconds and the UFO disappears from sight.

They talked a lot about their disclosure project which has been going on for 15 years or so and the US haven't disclosed to the public any of their documents, obviously, whereas 14 others have including the UK (I remember when they did it in 2007).

The weird alien thing in the trailer they sent to Stanford university and they're still doing tests on it and asking others with an interest to join them. The guy doing the tests indicated as much that it came from another planet without so much as saying so through fear of being ridiculed, after he pretty much ruled out mutation and disease and all other possibilities.

Worth a watch.

1. Earth is not special. Earth-like planets may be rare, but other earth-like planets are not very different from earth. Life on other earth-like planets is not significantly different from life on earth.

2. This follows from 1. Humans are not special. Intelligent life is probably rare, but other civilized intelligent life will be quite similar to humans.

3. The galaxy is in equilibrium. If we do not detect advanced intelligent life in our galaxy, it is either because we are not searching in the right way or it has not progressed to the point that it is detectable by us.

1,2 and 3 lead to the conclusion that civilizationally advanced intelligence is very rare in the universe assuming that we are looking for it in the right ways.

I was with you 100%, right up to number 3. Undecided

To say that the universe operates in a state of equilibrium--at least as far as technological progress of it's civilization(s)--can only be an assumption as we are in no position to know this and most likely won't be able to for as the galaxy is FUCKING HUGE. Laugh

We could guess that we've not found any other intelligent Civilizations yet because:

-The universe is huge and they're either in an area of our [already very limited] night sky that we've not checked yet OR

-our technology is not yet sophisticated enough to detect their civilization in what ever their current state is (this and the a fore mentioned point work both ways) OR

-they are sufficiently advanced and
a) just don't care about our insignificant species
b) haven't found us yet as THE GALAXY IS FUCKING HUGE
c) have found us and decided that rather than make proper first contact they wanna stick cold metal batons up our rectums.

Yes, all three are assumptions. Why would the galaxy be out of equilibrium?

If we assume that aliens use radio waves, then the reasoning Fermi used to arrive at the Fermi paradox leads us to the conclusion that there probably have not been past civilizations - in this galaxy - much more advanced than humans, otherwise their radio signals and colonies would have spread across the galaxy by now.

Think about it in terms of the age of our galaxy. If advanced civilization had developed 100 million years ago, it would already have spread throughout the entire galaxy. If it's out there - and uses radio - we should have already found it, despite only searching in a small volume of the galaxy.

I tend to lean towards the assumption that aliens much more advanced than us do exist, but they no longer use radio waves to communicate so we aren't looking for them in the right way. I don't believe they would communicate with us even if they found us.

If you make some very generous assumptions about the prevalence of habitable planets and the development of civilization, you will come to the conclusion that the civilizations closest in development to humanity are still on the order of 1000 years more/less advanced. I'd bet that humans 500 years in the future will be practically a different species due to genetic engineering. We probably wouldn't be able to communicate at a reasonable level. It would be like communicating with a chimp in sign language. We'd be the chimps. Now imagine an alien species that is 1000 years more advanced and realize that the type of species that could have spread throughout the galaxy by now would likely be over 1,000,000 years more advanced. There may never be fruitful communication with alien species, even if we do find out about each others existence.

I've got the dick so I make the rules.

Yep it is worth a watch, aliens have already been here, the thing is many people just don't want to believe it.

If you want to talk about aliens you are automatically ridiculed, if it's not on TV then it didn't happen; the thing is most if not all the people saying that aliens haven't been here or don't exist probably never took the time to do some research look at all the evidence out there and then judge for themselves.

There is so much stuff I don't talk about on a regular basis that it saddens me, here is a good example: Game, we all know that if you try to take an average joe and tell him that game is for real and that by doing so and so and reading so and so he will have the girl of his dream but what do you hear? that you are lying and that game isn't "real" or it's bad whatever.

People rely way too much on mainstream science, forgetting that science is a work in progress, for a long time scientist believed that:
-DNA was not important
- the atom was the smallest particle in existence,
- the earth was 6,000
- heavier objects fall faster

Many of the common knowledge out there is just not true, we have the internet now, do your own research look at both sides, try them and then make up your mind.

Come on, you can't say that with such conviction. Show me solid evidence of this. Look, I believe in life on other planets, but I'm not sure they've been here. The truth is, there is no solid evidence of this, just a lot of speculation.

There's plenty of information out there for you to look for if you're really interested. I've posted some stuff on the earlier pages which I'm sure isn't even 1% of what's out there available to us. Plenty of youtube videos, plenty of mass sightings (Washington DC 1952 and Phoenix 1997 among some of the most famous), official documents released by governments as I mentioned above, books from retired military personnel and government officials, deathbed confessions, etc, etc.

As I said, it's out there if you're really interested.

I've seen a UFO in so much that it was "unidentified". Whether it was from another planet or not, I don't know. I choose to believe it is since it wasn't moving like any other aircraft I know of. It was a yellowy-orange light among the stars but closer and brighter, and it was moving in what looked like the shape of a vase and I couldn't explain what it was.

The Sirius documentary goes into it and as le prince perdu said, if you talk about it you're ridiculed. That was the plan in a giant cover up of what's going in the world to the point where in that 1952 mass sighting, one of the governors addressed the public with someone dressed up in a massive cartoon alien costume. This is something thousands of people saw and he was taking the piss as if all these people were oodelally. Years later he retracted his views expressed at the time and believes they were UFOs flying over DC.

"Confessions" aren't proof though. Any looney can say whatever to make a buck. "Sightings" also aren't proof. I've investigated and haven't found much proof, just people saying they saw things. I support anyone's opinion who says they believe in them, and that they think they have come to this planet, but I do not support the a statement such as, "Aliens exist and have visited our planet." The proof just isn't there.

Here's an interview with Carl Sagan where he sheds light about not having clear evidence of extra terrestrials.

RE: Two Earth-Sized Planets with Earth-Like Temperatures Discovered by Kepler
Define "visit". There's a hell of a lot of videos out there, I imagine thousands. Even if it was just one that was true as in not bodged, photoshopped, edited etc, that should be proof enough, surely? If you mean "visit" as in landed and walked around freely to study the planet and whatnot, then yeah there would have to be conclusive evidence in my opinion. But visiting in terms of flying their spaceships around the planet for people to see, then I would say there's plenty of evidence out there of crafts doing things that no man-made or man-operated plane can do.

As I said in one of my first posts on the thread, there's stuff I believe and stuff I don't. I take a lot with a pinch of salt. I'm very curious as to why the US hasn't released any of their files under the pressure they've been under, whereas so many other countries have done so including Russia. I think it's quite telling.

I think it's interesting though regardless if I agree. I'll probably check out the video that was posted earlier just to see what's up with it. I've done lots of research as well, and have heard many testimonies and the like. I just personally don't believe a lot of it. To be honest, I don't have much of an opinion on whether or not aliens have flown into our airspace. UFOs, of course, but were they aliens? It's hard to say. I haven't seen conclusive enough evidence yet that they for sure have. But I also have seen enough reports to question it. I just won't agree with the statement that aliens have 100% flown in our airways.

I want it all to be true, so I guess my opinion is swayed by my bias towards not disproving it. That said, there's a lot I've seen out there with no explanation. Those who say "it's probably just a plane" or whatever are guessing just as much as those who say "it's an alien spaceship". The first guy gets more credit and belief, despite the lack of evidence in favour of his argument too. So it's all perception, what you want to believe and how you see it all.

RE: Two Earth-Sized Planets with Earth-Like Temperatures Discovered by Kepler
I read these books a few years back called the Montauk Projects. I personally thought they were a load of crap, but an interesting read none the less. My friends cousins told me about the books and I was interested. The way the described them to me was as if they were fact based, but I saw very little evidence to back up the claims. They talk a lot about people from other planets. Lots of conspiracy stuff. It's really far out there. It's a fun read even if you don't believe it. Some of you guys might be into it, though I'm sure you won't believe much of it either. I mean it's way way out there. But I looked at it like a science fiction book. There are all sorts of claims, but some involve us communicating with aliens for technology and mind reading and time travel capability. Crazy stuff.

I've always wondered, if the dinosaurs hadn't been wiped out, would they have evolved a singular advanced species? How far along would their tech have been at this point in time?

Oh come on. We have troubles with just landing probes (not humans) on the few nearby planets, and we're going to develop a faster-than-light drive within two decades? Two centuries would be a better (if still wildly optimistic) guess.
