RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
Silva is going to come out like a wolverine.

He vastly underestimated Weidman and paid the price, the cynic in me thinks this might have been a setup. I wouldn't normally give a shit about tonight's card, since they seem to be weekly.

I don't like that Rhonda chick.

Sorry to ask but can somebody send the link to stream.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

I was very suspicious after the fight at how readily Silva stated "Chris is new champion, that's it", he said it like he had known it all along, like he was communicating to us that this is what he was told to say.
Usually fighters have some stall and pause in their post-fight loss speeches.

Now I see this .gif, I'm supposed to buy that Silva was knocked down by that left? bullshit. Look at that left, it's like he throws his face up on purpose, perfect timing. The skin on his face doesn't budge. After the war with Sonnen, and the punches he took, I don't believe that left that doesn't even move the skin on his face, actually knocked him down. ( the following right however, is a different story )

I say the fight was thrown.

I always use twitter to find live stream links for any event. Just enter "UFC 168 free live stream." Plenty of links will show up.

I say the fight was thrown.

Nope. Completely wrong.

Weidman threw an unorthodox 1-2 (a jab that was started off as a hook if you notice how wide it was followed by a right cross) and Silva dodged both but Weidman threw Silva off his rhythm. How?

THAT BACKHAND FROM THAT MISSED RIGHT CROSS.

Any striker would follow that cross with a left hook. Notice how Silva leaned back when Weidman throws that backhand? Had Weidman thrown a hook instead, Silva would've dodged it. But since the backhand was thrown (thus throwing Silva off his rhythm), Silva leaned back the only thing he could do was weave. Silva is so use to his opponents throwing left-right-left-right combos he can dodge them but Silva weaved to Weidman's left (when he expected a right to come) where Weidman's hook was ready.

Let me break it down further:

Silva expected: 1-2-3-2 (left jab, right cross, left hook, right cross)

Weidman threw: 1-2-BH-3 (left jab, right cross, right backhand, left cross)

If Weidman threw how Silva expected then Silva would've dodged it all. He would've leaned back when Weidman threw a hook and moved his head to the left when Weidman threw a right (putting himself out of danger).

That backhand fucked up everything and Silva put his head into the perfect position for a left hook.

And if anyone thinks Silva took a baby shot, BULLSHIT! Silva's chin was exposed and a KO occurs when the brain accelerates and hits the skull to decelerate. Look at the whiplash! Weidman hits the chin ON POINT.

Thanks for the analysis Edmund Dantes. You forced me to find another angle at which the punch could be seen. It's clear from this .gif that Silva got caught clean, as you stated. I stand corrected.

Completely agree with Dantes. That backhand was very unconventional. Silva should have went the other way or kept his hands up at least. It was a clean KO.

However, I think Silva lost that fight more than Weidman won - due to excessive clowning. We should see a different Silva tonight. Won't be surprised if he KOs Weidman.

Silva got a lot of wins and brutal KO's by clowning. Guys lose their minds and then go after him.

That's the end of Silva's career. Weidman did beat his ass and did knock him out for a second in the first round.

Agreed, it's over for Silva, but that leg break is just sickening, wow.

Weidman will go on to dominate the middleweight division for a long time I reckon, a new era begins.

Props to Weidman. I was actually going to put my money behind him even though I thought Silva would end up taking the fight (before it started). That snapped leg was the gnarliest thing ever.

That is awful.

Kinda' surprised it doesn't happen more often.

My brother recorded the fight and is watching it tomorrow. He is in for a surprise.

In MMA - is breaking your leg like that considered a fluke for the other guy? Or is it a legit victory?

Does the fighter get credit - if the other guy snaps his leg on yours?

Or is that just a lucky break? - SORRY FOR THE PUN!

It counts as a TKO. Weidman checked Silva's leg strike with his knee, which was intentional btw. He knew that in the first fight Silva was getting a lot of those leg strikes in and that by checking them this time he could really hurt Silva. Doubt he envisioned something this grotesque though. Unbelievable.

Good guy for Silva to lose to though. Chris Weidman is a class act.

Weidman gets the win. As far as how legit it is, everybody is going to have a different opinion. Weidman was winning the fight though and won the previous matchup. I think there is no question he deserves to wear the belt. It would have been interesting to see where the fight went though had Silva not broken his leg.

Also - is it a career ender? Surely he can come back okay within a year? Alot of footballers do.

Or do you think the psychological damage will affect him in future as well?
