Yeah, it's an apache module, so you should be able to disable in apache (usually at /etc/httpd/httpd.conf) and then restart. I found this online, comment out these three lines (by placing a '#' [ without the quotes ]) before each of these lines (I wouldn't recommend deleting them, should you want to reevaluate using mod_security later).

AddModule mod_security.c
LoadModule security_module modules/mod_security.so
Include “/usr/local/apache/conf/modsec.conf”

And then restart apache (not sure how this is done on your particular sever configuration, probably "service httpd restart").

Also, you could comment out the crontab line with modsecparse.pl, again by placing a # in front of it. It's a bandaid solution, but should stop the hourly problems.

If you have shell access, this shows the crontab:

You still probably have to figure out why the underlying cron job kept crashing the db. Presumably the cron is running just an hourly check that should not cause the forum to go down.

its a good idea to keep threads under 100 pages long to avoid Database issues with bulletin boards...

I used to an admin on a board with 37000 members and well over 1,000,000 posts so I have some experience in this area and that is how we dealt with back-end db issues which ran into.

Also be careful with storing large amounts of attachments as they can and will become a pain to manage.

Yes it was me. Not sure why lightening decided to strike just me, but fortunately Roosh's IT guy came through and was able to patch me back up. I lost all of my Likes and Rep points (I was pretty proud of my Likes/Posts ratio...but I'll get over it ) Thank god I got my posts back...it was going to be rough starting back at 0.

It's good to be back. Although I did have a "presidentcarter ASSASSINATED" thread in the works under a new username should rescue efforts prove fruitless.

Oh and it appears than I've joined in Sept 2013 and in three short days have racked up over 1,300 posts.
