No girl wants to make the trip to Redondo Beach and unless she's some hippie kind of chic, she's most likely not coming back to Venice with you. The places I mentioned have some sort of status and mystique to them...plus in my opinion, that's where the hottest women will be.

I think it depends what you are offering. I don't live in any of those places because I didn't want to live in an apartment. I need to be outside, have a yard and BBQ, but can't afford a house in those zip codes. Instead, I have a house in Culver City and routinely get any westside based chicks back to my place for the after party. Hollywood chicks are tough, but SM, Brentwood, Venice chicks are no problem.

I know you will say "I cant afford a house"...addressed below.

(06-25-2013 08:04 PM)MikeCF Wrote:  Another rough spot. You meet some girls and they want to hang out past 2 a.m. What are you gonna do?

After parties are hard on the West Side. Most apartments are semi-residential, so you can't really party like you can up in the Hills. Cops will be at your place with a quickness after calls from neighbors.

I know a guy has never lived on the West Side if he talks about game without ever mentioning crushing cash flow issues.

Agreed on that. Cops come REAL quick to Brentwood and SM apartments.

The solution is to get a house. If you cant afford your own house as most cant, then get a couple cool roommates and get a pad that way. About the same price or even cheaper than getting your own apartment. I have many friends who do that and also have no problem getting chicks back.

When I tell girls "It's only 1:30, lets go back to my house and keep partying" they are almost always game for it. I always tell them my bar is fully stocked, which it usually is. If they still need pushing then I roll into we can "bump music and dance also" which usually is the icing on the cake. Rarely do we dance actually, but now they have what they view as a legitimate reason to go back to my place and its not just to fuck me. Usually that happens anyways, but it wasn't premeditated in their eyes which makes them feel better. I guess at least...

Have done the apartment thing, and the sales pitch wasn't nearly as effective.

I know G and others hate the fact everything closes early, but if you have the proper setup it works to your advantage. Girls are peaking with their buzz at 1-1:30 and want to keep going, so if you have a solution to that its gold. Other places which go until 4-5, there is often a girl in the group who is tired and just wants to go home.

If you did a study, I don't think there are any less one night stands in LA than in most other places which close at 4 or 5. Vegas and Miami being huge tourist destinations are probably different.

I really think in LA if you can get into a house with roommates or without, it makes a huge difference. Do you need cash? Of course you do, but I'm not convinced that having your own apartment is any cheaper though.

I've gone to Alhambra Main Street. Lots of hot young Latinas but its pretty closed off if you aren't familiar to them. some of the divey bars there may be easier but ive always gone with a so so crew...

Also the guys tend to try to get into fights and are super protective of the girls they are with....

I've done decently at some of the bars in eagle rock but the crowds are hit and miss....usually miss.

+1 on Main street in Alhambra with some caveats...

Azul and Sapphire have some fine looking heinas on Thursday and Friday nights but I hate having to deal with all the baldies there as well. I think I slink in a little bit more because I'm Asian and speak pretty decent hood Spanish from growing up in East Los, but definitely a good tip.

Found this great lounge in Arcadia with the best collection of non-bitchy, fairly attractive Asian girls in LA. I've been mining that place like a 49'er.

I say this b/c I am actively in the process of moving to one of these areas: looking at apt listings, contacting them, applying to jobs in the area, turning down job offers that are too far away...I'm making an effort and sacrificing money & opportunities to make this happen.

I have lived here for over a decade and you have not. Therefore your opinion isn't valid. It's all fantasy for you right now.

True, it is a fantasy for me: my california girl summer fling fantasy. Maybe when I get there it will be exactly as you say or maybe I'll kill it. Only one way to find out. And I'm not putting a gun to anyone's head to move to these areas. It's like someone saying NY or Vegas is better. I don't see you saying "but it's expensive to move to NY and my job is here in LA." It's my idea for a solution but I'm not holding you to it. And I do understand that it's not easy. I'm going thru the pain of doing it right now and it's work and it's been tough.

There are many "data sheets" stating what neighborhoods to live in what are the best bars, best places for day game, etc. I even gave a specific geographic rundown/map for someone who was apartment hunting. Run a search.

You're making the classic mistake of precious millennials everywhere:

"Well, I haven't seen something. Therefore it doesn't exist."

It's all there.

Focus on adding value rather than talking shit to the people who actually contribute information and who actually have first-hand knowledge of what they write of.

I do have to ask - why is McQueen killing it there? And there are guys who are successful like him who don't post on this forum. As I said earlier, one guy or a handful of guys' experience doesn't make it reality for everyone else.

Find your niche. Exploit it. Night game I am a rockstar on. Daygame I'm mid-level; just haven't found the motivation during the day when I can pull at night relatively easy.

If you're a surfer, live by the beach and pull beach sluts. If you're a bookworm live by UCLA and pull Asian chicks who like to stay in on a Sat night. If you like to party, get a job in nightlife and have club sluts.

I know my strengths and weaknesses and that's ok. I plan on moving to Miami next year for a 3 month trial, then NYC for another 3 months. Where will I work; what will I do? VIP Hosting contracts with clubs their. Will I continue to pull? Absolutely. Part of that is for work I hit those cities and already have an idea of how they work. I know my niche and utilize it and I don't try to be anything I'm not.

All that being said; a lot of night game is a matter of applying advice every fucking weekend for years. Learn from those who know and put in the work.

Cool beans brother. I'm gonna try both daygame & nightgame in these areas. My strength is in daygame so gaming the beach areas would be ideal but I'd also like to work myself into the nightlife industry there and really give it a chance. I don't even mind starting out as a street promoter to get started in the biz.

I don't hit on girls much, but when i do they melt.

private. you need to know people in the industry. people generally suited down a bit...just looking like they rolled in after work.

make friends with bloggers if you can, they get invited to these all the time..like magazine launch parties and crap like that. free booze, free food...but you have to be able to have a unique selling point of yourself. i don't know what you intend to do but try to get into a mailroom at a talent agency or even studios...you'll eventually work your way into these parties.

Nice car is $400 lease payment. Plus you gotta commute. That's $200 or more. Plus insurance on said leased car - $150.

So you're $1,800 a month in rent and $700-800 in a car. Every month.

That's around $30,000 a year. That's after-tax money, too. So you need to earn $45,000 or so before taxes just to cover rent and a car.

You haven't even eaten or paid a student loan bill and you need a 45K/year job just to pay your rent and drive to and fro.

Guys just don't get it unless they've lived it.

It's all about lifestyle game, or what guys are now calling "good logistics."

Yes, get an apartment across the street from The Wilshire and by Cabo Cantina, Qs, etc. Or get an apartment down the street from 3rd Street Promenade.

But, again, you need a lot of cash. If you don't have cash, "game" is going to be very hard to do.

I know a guy has never lived on the West Side if he talks about game without ever mentioning crushing cash flow issues.

I would bet that this is all true. I would bet that Mike knows what he is talking about.

I want to offer a different perspective.

Mike is talking about the high end. The best of the best. Top shelf.

I say, unless you can afford to compete in that world, do even try.

Stick to the middle class and working class. Unless, you are from that world and have the cash to properly navigate it.

Are rich guys the only ones banging girls in LA? Of course not. There are so many middle class neighborhoods and working class girls.

I won't even mention the poor girls. Poor girls are fucking easy and many of them are hot.

We only talk about the top shelf girls. I recommend going after the 2nd and 3rd tier. Not everyone can afford the top shelf. Not everyone is ready for that.

LA gets much easier if you lower your standards just a little.

I wouldn't even go to Hollywood. I could get better results somewhere else.

Just is just my opinion and the reality of my game.

I don't try to compete against the big boys. I just get in where I fit in.

I have a better idea.

Start day gaming!

Before you give up, why don't you try a new strategy?

Every day, on your lunch break, approach 1 girl, just one.

Then, every day after work, approach one more.

This will take you about 10 minutes. You will do over 10 approaches a week.

Approach a few more on the weekends. This will put a few new girls into your funnel every week.

There are so many girls in LA. You can't give up. You just need to find a better strategy.

The problem in LA has never been getting with 6s & 7s. The problem in LA is getting with 8s, 9s, and 10s with any consistency.

I know. Thats how it sounds on the forum. I think its bullshit.

If you want to pull the top shelf actresses and models, you need that stuff.

I say, forget about the actresses and models.

Go after the cute Latinas. The junior college girls. The working class girls. The cute Black girls in the hood. The middle class Whites. The tourists. The out of towners.

I don't game the top 1%. I game the other 99%.

Nice take on it... I have to say I agree. It's going to be a damn near Herculean effort for me to get a prototypical ice-queen 9 at a Hollywood club, but I do quite well with the 7's I meet in ethnic areas in LA. Then again, I think it helps because I'm not really into white girls very much.

Guys,

Been looking at flats in LA, we will probably get an office in Fashion district, so I am planning to get the flat in Down town..

The flats looks really nice and the views from some of those flats are breath taking... Also will need to get a car as well to travel around.. By the way, where is the cheapest place to rent a BMW or Mercedes? Seems like the car rent places just makes up the rent according to their choice... I have seen mercedes car going from $50 to $200 a day.. And they were all fairly new and luxury ones...

What do you guys think of Down town LA? They also seems to have fair amount of bars and clubs as well..

RE: The Los Angeles thread
There's been a ton posted on DTLA. Personally it's my favorite place to hang out. Some of my favorite bars and restaurants are down there. The talent is very noticeably worse than other parts of the city, it's like something about DTLA just doesn't appeal to the cream of the crop in L.A. Probably because the lack of prestige or "scene". Downtown is also considerably more expensive to live than other parts of the city. If you have to rent a place down there, make sure parking is included. I pay $1500 for my apartment that's a 15 minute drive from DTLA. If it was actually downtown it wouldn't go for less than $2500.

I will say that girls seem more down-to-earth down there. My approaches and interactions with girls in general tend to be way more successful. Just be prepared for a horde of girls in the 4-7 range. Any girl that's 8+ will have a lot of guys clamoring for her. If you like asians there's tons of hotties at The Exchange, but again ratios are awful. You'd be better off going to Little Tokyo which is nearby and hitting up random girls at bars and restaurants there.

The best bars are in the 213 nightlife group. Casey's, Golden Gopher, 7 Grand, The Varnish, Las Perlas, Cana. They're some of my favorite and coolest bars in the city, and yet the pickup scene can be pretty awful.

Downtown can be very nice or very dodgy depending on where you are. I would not get a flat on Broadway, myself. If I lived there I'd probably move to one of those apartments above the California Plaza watercourt, if I could afford it. The area east of Los Angeles street is skid row with crackheads and homeless wandering around like zombies. I love downtown but it is an area in transition and you could walk one block and see middle class white hipsters, and the next block see some dude smoking crack rock in broad daylight. Spend a few days hanging out there before you make the move, it's not for everyone though it's improving vastly every year.

Yes, plenty of nice nightspots and one of the few places you can just take the subway in and have a bar-hopping night all on foot like you would in NYC or SF. Some cool places are Perch, The Standard rooftop bar, The Edison, Seven Bar(next to Seven Grand), The Pattern Bar(one of my personal favs), Las Perlas, Spring Street. Tons of other places stuck in nooks and crannies.

Girls are not the best here, but the scene is less pretentious and the bars have a lot more character. I can go down there with some friends and actually have a good time. Hollywood to me is just not fun, too much posturing.

Edit --

Here's a list and many are somewhat within walking distance of each other.

I'd live in little tokyo personally. metro rail access, MOCA, good restaurants (lazy ox, sushi places, shabu shabu, etc), relatively safe, japanese grocery right there, a few local decent pubs, edison is right there as well and some chain-y type places like staples.

Are you moving to LA permanently? If so, then you can buy a used BMW or Mercedes with only a couple of years on it and low mileage petty damn cheap on Autotrader.com or craigslist when you get to LA. People in LA are always selling their cars, so you can get a petty good deal on a used luxury car in LA.

@LoveCharm

If you're looking for office space and a loft downtown LA shoot me a PM. One of my very good friends and clients owns ALOT of live/work spots downtown LA and can hook you up with a good deal.

Example: I almost moved downtown last fall and he discounted a loft for me from $3,000 a month to $1,700. This was a MASSIVE loft and sick but I decided to be in Hollywood for work.

@Mcqueen, I have PM'd you 2 days ago did you get it? Does your friend let the place out for a week? (short let)? Also, does he have any office space in Fashion district? (will PM you more details)

You see I am coming to LA in august for 7-8 days, in that time I will rent a flat and car.. I will need to look around, go to fashion district, talk to the wholesalers and get the feel of things..

We are also going to be recruiting 1-2 sales people as well, so will have to interview them as well...

I will be moving to LA permanently around October and at that time will buy a flat, rent an office and buy a car.. Might sell my Bentley in London (it will be really emotional though) and with that money buy something similar.. Petrol (or as you guys call it gasoline) is cheaper, so running those 6 litre beast won't dent my pocket too much..

Night life wise, well I guess I can drive down to hollywood if thats the hottest place.. I am used to driving around in London, so its cool for me..

Just spent some time shooting some emails on OKC, yeah the quality is not the greatest, but its not too bad for me either.. I like white girls and girls with curves (not fat though), so its not too bad for me.. Thai girls were not my cup of tea and they are think and tiny, but these american chicks seems to have some meat on their bone (but some are just too fat, which is a turn off).. Couple of them are really in to me and almost falling in love with me... I still got over one month, so can easily line up 6-7 chicks.. However, I can't get carried away too much as I have some big assignments regarding setting up office..

May be when I have moved to LA then can form a crew (like we used to have in London) and then we can plan things together.. Mcqueen seems to have some good connections, so will talk to him about things and guest lists..

PS, is there any pay as you go OR prepaid sim card in US? I was looking for sim but in T-mobile website they only had monthly contracts...

I think downtown might be better for daygame - the Ralphs near FIDM is a gold mine.

I also think it's becoming more of a realistic place to live for people, so the nightlife will get better. I grew up in LA and went downtown maybe 5 times in 18 years. But now, people are coming down here a lot more regularly for some of the best bars/restaurants in the city.

Honestly, the best daygame spot I've seen is The Grove. I've gotten a couple numbers but no bangs, but I haven't worked it very hard.

Seriously, go to the Grove right now during the summer, on like a thursday at 3-4 PM. Some pretty awesome talent walking around there.

RE: The Los Angeles thread
Here’s an example of what I had to do in order to live in Santa Monica, piggybacking on MikeCF’s rant about how hard it is to make it here. I’ve been here for 18 months now; previously San Diego (8yrs) and Oakland (2yrs). Perhaps it will add some insight.

I started off living with a roommate. $1,000/mo all in. It was a nice place, and yes, that’s considered a deal. He was not helpful with my game in the slightest and I had to leave after 6 months because of that.
I now have a 750sf 1bd with accessible parking for guests in mid-SM. $1,600/mo, all in. There is no laundry, but it’s private and quiet I think…I only really sleep there.

I commute to the Valley for work. I started off making $95k in middle market finance. After 1 year of using a seasoned executive to introduce me to some good contacts, and building my own, I switched and now expect to make $110k this year, now in a sales position. This might sound great to some, it might not to others. $110k allows me to save $1500/month., not including 401k.

I can’t buy a house in a good area because a decent (livable) one is $800k. A major fixer is $550k. Condo’s have deferred maintenance or $600/month HOA’s. Single, no mortgage, no kids means that I expect to pay about $25,000 in taxes for 2013. CA state income tax is 9%.

The reasons I’m trying to make it happen in Santa Monica is mainly because it is fun as f*ck here, and, I think I have an opportunity to make $200k in 3-4 years. If you are 40+ and aren’t in the ballpark towards that kind of coin, I’d argue that you don’t belong here unless you had some sort of sweet angle, i.e. bar manager, bodybuilder, entertainment industry. Personally, I get off on struggling to break into new levels of achievement and finding higher levels to compete at.

If I fail in 3-4 years, I’m either moving to Charlotte or Miami, depending on how my worldview evolves. If I progress towards the $200k, I’m staying.

Basilransom or Speakeasy (in the SM Thread) came to a negative conclusion on Santa Monica, which is true, that the hot girls are already involved in a tight social group and are usually not concerned with meeting new people. I’ve encountered some of this here, but what I think people don’t realize is that this pertains to the ENTIRE west side. While it’s fun as f*ck here, it’s important to understand that it’s also competitive as f*ck here. You have to be willing to compete. I know they say West Hollywood and other parts are easier, but I don’t see it. The entire West Side is a slugfest, every time you leave your apartment.

I currently consider myself on the mid-lower end of the general spectrum. I observe the hottest girls at the gym, and they consistently talk to 3-4 guys every time they walk into the gym. I go to events all the time. 9-10’s always have a date. I think the only way to get them is to ‘steal’ them from another guy when he lets his guard down.

That said, you get a TON of access to bang-able girls here. They are everywhere. At night they commute in. During the day, they come to shop, UCLA/USC/LMU students all live here. You can go out 7 nights a week and game. It’s available every day. The ONLY times I can think of when I don’t have solid access is Christmas break, when it’s raining, or after 1am. Think about that. I spent college and a few years after that in a mid-tier, Midwestern city, searching for accessibility and mostly settling. A lot of nights I’d have to go to the strip club just to see some talent. You simply cannot compare most places to L.A. (I do not know Miami or NYC well).

To pile on further…You don’t need to make $110k. I think it can be done at $70k, and I have plenty of friends that are doing it. When I go out with them, we just adjust. You don’t need to lease a $400/month car and spend $100/night on booze to have fun and pull talent here. There are a lot of things to do on the low end that are just as fun, and can get you in front of the same girls that are at the high end spots. (Remember, a lot of girls are poor here too, especially the minorities).

For instance, I can walk 1 block to the bus stop on Friday night, and for the cost of $1 and 20 minutes, show up at two sweet West Hollywood bars with no cover and lots of hot a$$ (Hudson’s and Laurel Hardware). Yes, the $30 cab ride home isn’t pleasant, but that’s part of the competition. I shouldn’t be going home, some chick should be driving me back in the morning, or I’m taking the bus back at 7am in the morning. I’ve pulled 5-6 nights like this for under $30. Admittedly, a lot more nights happen for me for well over $100, usually my fault though.

Drinking is expensive most ways you do it, if you’re out. Try playing sports, running clubs, beach volleyball, etc. I met a lot of solid guys for a social circle through golf. Go to the beach, go to hotel pools and hang out, go shopping and just browse and talk to girls, go have coffee and be around girls. All of these (excluding golf) are super cheap, and you’re still part of the scene.

Life is very hard and very expensive if you don’t plan for it.

MANDATORY things that you need here.

-Decent room or roommate situation. No drinking and driving. That’s too big a risk to your game in CA.
-You HAVE to work out
-You HAVE to be able to network and make friends
-It’s been said, but you HAVE to have some sort of angle or “Catch”.

Find a niche that works for you. If you’re not interesting, with no personality or drive, you will fail miserably here. I excel at introducing myself at networking groups and feeling very comfortable with people at an event. I got two solid numbers from some winefest on the pier last Sunday, plus some girl from our group tried to make out with me that night (bad play for me). I go to as many of those events as possible. I dress nice, keep in shape, and work constantly to improve my game. I’ll go to bottle service and I like higher end places too, but it’s not where I hang my hat.

You can get by in cities like San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, St. Louis, Denver, Houston, Austin, OC, and even San Diego without competing. If you bring that sh*t to the west side, you will fail miserably.

RE: The Los Angeles thread
After a delayed flight, a missed connecting flight, a night at the airport, two more flights and 30 hours of no sleep, I'm finally in LA.

Oh and fuck you American Airlines.

Excellent breakdown. I think this is the best, most detailed description of the situation in West LA I've seen so far.

Do you daygame at the beach or pier or out & about around SM? Do you approach tourist girls? I'm guessing there's lots of them especially since it's summer. How is the nightlife in SM compared to the other areas? I notice you go to & recommend WeHo instead.

Another angle I'd like to explore is throwing regular parties. What's the house parties situation in SM or West LA in general?

I don't hit on girls much, but when i do they melt.
