Fighting Un-Wanted Cat-Calls
This woman goes around postering about guys cat calling her.

http://www.npr.org/2013/06/15/187745940/...-at-a-time

I'm trying to understand cat calling in relation to game.

Is it just bad game? Does it ever work? What is the intent of guys who cat call?

The only way I can understand what it might be like is if I were walking down the street and constantly having gay guys come up and say shit like "smile" etc.

Obviously, I'm all for guys being able to say whatever to girls in public, but these guys who do cat calls are just embolding/enraging feminists to try to get "street harassment" laws passed.

My gut tells me that doesn't bode well for guys who do a lot of actual game on the streets (as opposed to "yo baby" etc.)

I've never seen a "cat call" work, so I would say it is shitty game.

RE: Fighting Un-Wanted Cat-Calls
It's one of the oldest tricks in the book. Cat-calling went on long before feminism took over. I suspect that the only way it's persisted for so many generations is that, as a low-investment strategy, it occasionally works or at least did work in the past. Could it be that it's bad game but that because it's *easy* game that it actually makes sense? Like an automatic weapon you spray every mildly desirable dame with a cat-call and one out of... who knows 100, 200 or a 1000 responds enough to lead to sex.

It's weird, because I only ever hear about it from girls I'm already banging. It seems pathetic, but I suspect that like everything else, in the end these feminists are really complaining about the 99% of guys who cat-call who they aren't sufficiently attracted to and not the 1% who perform the same objectifying mating call who they do find desirable.

Cat calling is stupid. Of course it doesn't work. Never once seen a woman be charmed by it. And the dudes that do it are always low class and lame. All it does in the end is raise women's bitch shields and make them defensive against being approached by a guy they don't know. Men should be fighting cat-calling as well.

RE: Fighting Un-Wanted Cat-Calls
I'd bet most guys who cat call are doing it because they feel it's a safe way of interacting with the woman because she's never going to actually respond.

These are guys who are probably thirsty and angry about it.

RE: Fighting Un-Wanted Cat-Calls
Actually, on second thought, maybe cat calling is *just* stupid. It occurs to me, do guys cat call in rural areas? If it's an urban phenomenon then maybe it's just the result of putting beta males in a novel, densely populated environment.

In other words, would you cat call in a small town where you'd have to face the girls brother or father afterwards? Probably not. In that case, the same slobs who'd cry out "Hey mami!" would shut the hell up for fear of retaliation.

Whatever. I enjoy making fun of girls who complain about guys who cat call. Suggesting they go throw themselves on the pathetic guys making spectacles of themselves just makes them more likely to fuck you again.

It goes without saying that cat-calling is horrible game, and the only kinds of women that could possibly fall for it are not the most desirable ones.

Guys who cat-call tend to have no real other options on the sexual market.

In their perspective, might as well take a puncher's chance with cheap, out-of-the-money (cat-) call options--low investment, playing the numbers game with the positive convexity.

My problem with it is the same as yours--the negative externalities that it induces with increased female self-esteem and elevated bitch shields.

I can talk about this in rural areas. There is no sober cat-calling - but there is drunk cat-calling.

However, in small towns, you know who the person is - and it often happens at the local bars & it reaches a crescendo during the annual fair (at the beer tent).

Often, they will either just be a drunk yelling out dumbshit "Hey broad, get over here." Or they are nursing a long-standing crush on a particular woman.

The betahood is the need to get smashed before the approach. I understand rifling back a few strong drinks, but needing the sauce to approach isn't good.

There is no street-calling, there is usually waving of hands, stopping for small talk about somebody's ailing grandma or their kid's new hobby or some shit. Nobody is cat-calling. Maybe high school kids out of their car, but they would only target other high school women. The only culprits are omegas or arrogant alphas - once again, rare.

Part of the impetus of cat-calling is the anonymity urban areas bring, plus the lessened respect you can have for your fellow person.

Plus, beta usually aren't as thirsty, as rural areas still are more conservative in their approaches to relationships. Sure, there are hoardes of single mothers - but they tend to monopolize unstable bad boys, bikers and drug dealers. Expectations of getting married are higher in the country, so a guy like me at mid-20's is getting badgered constantly to get a wife.

I had the parent's of friend stop me at the local grocery saying so&so is single and you would make a great couple.

RE: Fighting Un-Wanted Cat-Calls
The fracas over "cat-calling" shows just how socially retarded this generation of women is. I wrote an article about this a year ago, but I'll elaborate on it a bit more here.

The way the Holla Back people talk, you'd think they were getting nonstop graphic come-ons the minute they walked out the door. But one of the posters on that NPR story reads "Stop Telling Women to Smile."

No, really.

To this generation raised on Facebook and texting, having a stranger tell them that they should look on the bright side constitutes a crime against humanity. I get told that I should smile more---by both men and women---all the time. Whenever someone tells me that, I smile, thank them and walk away. That's it. I don't feel that my integrity has somehow been violated because a complete stranger thought I looked too surly.

The campaign against cat-calling is what happens when you instill feminist entitlement in a generation of digital shut-ins whose helicopter parents didn't bother teaching them how to deal with day-to-day social interactions; or, indeed, didn't teach them that if they dress provocatively, men will take notice. Instead of responding to people they don't like like adults---saying thank you and walking away---they react like spoiled little babies, demanding that the world reconfigure itself so as not to trample on their sensitive widdle feewings.

There's also an element of classism here. Feminists can deny it all they want, but it ain't SWPL hipster white guys commenting on the curvature of their asses. Cat-calling is a lower-class/working-class thing. Basically, the anti-cat-calling types are well-off, privileged girls getting indignant about those people daring to even look in their general direction. Marie Antoinettes for the 21st century: "Let them go fuck themselves."

Of course, when masculinity is outlawed, only outlaws will be masculine. The only "men" who will take the Holla Back people seriously are the white knight losers who never had any sack to begin with. The guys who actually do the cat-calling will just go on ignoring these campaigns like they always have.

My sense is that the girls, as the always do, are reacting to the subtext underneath what is actually being said.

And the vibe I keep imagining is a less intense version of the Puerto Rico Day parade incidents.

I can see it getting really annoying if you have dudes constantly cat calling. That said, the girls don't have to engage them at all. They can just walk by. It only becomes an issue if the guys are going to block her from moving, start touching her, or whatever.

This is touchy here, because, stopping a girl dead in her tracks by standing in front of her is part of some guys' daygame routine (like Krauser).

I'm also going to say something that might not be PC, but these lower class guys gotta get their game together. They are morons or ignorant for not recognizing that girls are looking for high value guys. Cat-calling is so tied up with lower class (of all races including whites), that any guy who does it essentially announcing to the world:

"I want to be perceived as a thirsty dog"

Not the same thing.

You should be asking:

"What do I do when random guys start rubbing up on me and touching my chest and shoulders at a night life venue?"

Girls grabs my chest.

I grab her tit.

If she engages or is playfully offended, game on (though you won't need much game). If she's actually offended, she can walk away.

Solid game? Maybe not, but it's pretty messed up behavior from the girl so she either gets the quick dick or nothing at all. Weird times now I think of it.

That's mostly how I proceed because I don't care for such girls, but how do you respond?

True.

That's fucked up.

RE: Fighting Un-Wanted Cat-Calls
I'm serious. I'm tired of drunken, aggressive fatties touching me without my permission. I can't go to the police to have them arrested for sexual assault because I'm a dude. It's not socially acceptable to punch her right in the snout because I'm a guy. It's like I'm supposed to be content with getting felt up by some leviathan beast that's waaaaay below, league wise.

It's fine if the girl touching me unsolicited is attractive, because the situation is simple. Either she's attracted to you and tipsy to the point where her inhibitions are greatly lowered, so you just run 'dont fuck up' game. Or she's trying to get you to buy her a drink, which means that it's now okay to troll her, hard.

If it doesn't work, you can accuse them of sexism, etc. The issue I'm seeing here is that men will have to sink to the level of childish cunts to get anywhere in that situation

This woman most likely lives in a rich swpl hipster location now. Not sure how many catcalls you get there. She also like to wear form fitting clothes or show some cleavage as well.

I tried hitting on her one time when I was not aware of game and 30 lbs heavier. Danced with her, but got no where.

I haven't read the linked article, but in my experience cat-calling comes from a few places.

(1) Young high-testosterone males that are basically just trying to show off. The catcall is usually delivered from a location safe from retaliation, or in fact any response at all, like a beater car or maybe a jeep with no top. Usual targets are college girls who probably aren't writing pissy articles for NPR. Occasional targets are women in their late 20s/30s who are secretly flattered. This type will also catcall men as a dominance thing (usually saying something stupid that they think will be incredibly funny to the friends they are trying to impress)

(2) Ugly/low-class men who are both impulsive and have essentially nothing to lose. They see a smartly dressed chick on the street with great curvature. There is no amount of game in the universe that would give the man a shot with her, and her high-chinned arrogance and low-cut blouse push his buttons. The catcall in this instance is partly just a guy giving in to his urges because he literally does not give a fuck, and partly to put the bitch in her place for daring to strut her stuff in front of him.

(3) I suspect that many of the "smile!" type "catcalls" really aren't catcalls at all they are just bad game, and are merely perceived as catcalls by bitchy feminists looking for a reason to get pissed off. And are already pissed off so they attract attention from people trying to cheer them up. I've basically never seen this sort of catcall though, since most of the people I associate with smile often.

If you've never seen a cat call work, you have lived a very sheltered existence.

For practitioners, it's usually more about the bullshitting aspect of it all - i.e. it very much is harassment for the amusement of the group.

I disagree with this anti-game sentiment. He's too ignorant of the game at this time, but he could get his shit together and learn how to approach her with the intent of actually fucking her instead of blowing off steam and making himself look like an idiot.
