RE: Did the economy kill happy hour?
I think you guys might be right about brunch being the new happy hour. I started working out at lunch now so I can game it up after work if need be.

RE: Did the economy kill happy hour?
I was sitting at a local Starbucks the other day just drinking my coffee. 5:45 comes around and a large group of people swarmed in. I think Starbucks has become the new happy hour scene.

The tshirt underneath is fine if it's a complementary color but the stark white looks like underwear showing.
Not everyone will agree of course.

And I have noticed local bars being really slow the past few months, in general, even on weekends.

RE: Did the economy kill happy hour?
I had a good NYC brunch a few weeks ago and it was fun. $4 bloody mary's and two bowl packs later, I ended up more wasted than I was the night before.

Brunch hour isn't so good for pickup though. Large groups of friends usually attend (i.e. huge group of girls). You would also need to have a large circle of friends to have any consistent pickup success at brunch.

My friend is an alcoholic and he cleans up on brunch.

If you're drinking hard, people take note and the other hard drinkers join you/ask you to join them.

Say there are 3 girls out. One of them is probably an alchie and the other two are amateurs. My boy will end up drinking with them.

Survival of the fittest kicks in and the others start feeling too drunk for a Sunday. They leave until it's the two drinkers left.

Once a girl is wasted, she's not listening to a mother hen telling her she needs to go home.

If you like to drink and can work with a hangover (or you're a true alcoholic and don't get hangovers anymore), brunch is a really good scene.

Not everyone will agree of course.

A t-shirt under a dress shirt is never appropriate. I'm far from the fashion police, recognize there's a lot of room for disagreement, but that's just not even debatable.

Well that wasn't a very convincing argument...predictable though.
I would argue the exact opposite, you should always wear an undershirt, it's only a matter of whether it is a vneck or a crew neck. Of course I would never wear pants without underwear either, or shoes without socks.

Give the OP a break on his fashion sense, he isn't used to wearing shirts.

Seriously CaptainPower sometimes I think you're trolling us. You say you work Wall street yet you don't have the presence of mind to realize that a dive like Off The Wagon will be the first to feel any economic downturn. If you instead would go over to Danny Meyer's North end grill in BPC you will find it bustling with activity at Happy hour.

I've noticed it too, but I think people just go out to dinner at "small plates" places, gastropubs, etc..you know...since its not really dinner any more

@ Vicious So the meatpacking was dead and the village was average, but Danny Meyer's north end grill would have been packed??

Maybe I'll go this Thursday and take some pics of the crowd. I took some pics of the Standard but it started raining and came out blurry : (

It was discussed thoroughly in another thread that dives are the first places hit by a slumping economy.

That shirt killed happy hour. And day game, night game, strip club game, and my eyes.

And the oversized beer too. If I was in that bar with you, I'd swoop some girls, and we'd laugh at you.

Hatin' on Easter??

@Aliblahba what did you do on Thursday night? Call of Duty, or Netflix?

I'd love to argue, but I have to pick up an Easter plant for my mother and my grandmother and drive over to my parents.

My grandmother still gives me peeps and $50 every Easter, so I will use the money to buy 4 more shirts : )

Thursday I worked on my truck, got drunk and laid. And wore a mad cool shirt.

Oh yeah, and started getting ready for a move to the NE Corridor. Yes, I'll be in your neck of the woods cleaning up the pussy tomorrow. Watch and learn youngin'!

Wrong.

I'm certain it was discussed.

The world being flat was discussed too. Don't make it right. A friend of mine has a bar and likka sto' in the midwest and has been cleaning house since the Democrats destroyed the economy. All the dive bars where I've been running are full at 6. People drink away their worries.

Happy Hour= cool people and easy pussy

Starbucks= hipsters, liberals, gays, feminists, and stuck up bitches getting fat on mochafappelattes.

The discussion in both cases concerned NYC. In the Midwest there are no high end alternatives, just roadhouses filled with fenced stages and inbreds with Mossbergs.
