RE: Pornstars Aren't Damaged Goods?
The fact that the study proved they're happy with their lives doesn't make them desirable as partners. It's the classic "men like confidence so it erases all other flaws on a woman" fallacy.

That said, even a prostitute with a clear mind and resistance to feminist bullshit might be better than a typical hamster-controlled girl who just sleeps around for love.

Of course they're not damaged goods. Man up and take one of these beautiful girls home to meet your mom!

Pornstars aren't by any means the most desirable partners on the planet.

RE: Pornstars Aren't Damaged Goods?
I call shenanigans on this whole thing.

Quote:Researchers compared self-reports from a group of nearly 200 porn actresses to those of women outside the industry who were similar in age, ethnicity and marital status.

They'd best hope that there is no higher likelihood of pornstars lying in anonymous/self-reporting circumstances.

Quote:Not only did the report show no higher incidence of child sexual abuse or psychological problems among female performers, but it actually found that pornsters had higher levels of self-esteem and sexual satisfaction.

High self esteem and sexual satisfaction do not preclude "damage".

Quote:“I think that the misconception of porn performers as ‘damaged goods’ stems from a misconception that only women who have little respect for their body would take place in sexual acts in front of the camera,”

No, it goes beyond that. It is entirely possible for a woman to like her body and still be damaged in one way or another. These folks are confusing sufficient conditions for necessary ones.

Need more evidence? Watch some of these.

I dated a stripper for a couple months recently and she was by far the most fucked up woman I have ever met. Can't even imagine how much more fucked up the average porn chick is.

Anyone heard of Billy Watson?
http://www.ishootporn.com/

Porn producer that blogs about his work..his videos have popped up around here more than enough.

He interviews pornstar before they do a scene. asking questions like: Why would you get into porn? or ask if they had daddy issues and whatnot.

I've met and gotten to know a hand full of women that do or have done porn. Not relationship material on any level but fun to party with.

An article on Salon.com...with a 100% female sample...using a self-reported survey to assemble their data and reach their conclusion...

You know what I think? The average Western chick is willing to already go to great lengths to attention whore (what with Facebook Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr) to fill the father, husband, baby or family sized hole in whatever the female equivalent of a soul is; but a girl that needs to have sex (often of the depraved variety and with same-sex or multiple partners) to fill her need for attention or validation is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally fucked up.

Or, from a pragmatic standpoint; even if she isn't fucked up, is it a smart play to shack up with a girl who gets paid to take dick on camera?

RE: Pornstars Aren't Damaged Goods?
What's the big deal about taking dick on camera? It's just business, it's only a job. If you see the personality of most of these girls, what other job do you think they could possibly have? Be a saleswoman at Forever 21? Yeah, but it's not like that sort of job is economically benefiting our society in any meaningful way.

It's far less intimate than an actual slut hooking up with 10 new guys per year. Or my favorite is the girl/single-mom who meets a guy, a week later changes their facebook status to "in relationship" then 3 weeks later they break up...repeat this 6 times per year. That girl, to me at least, has more problems than a party girl who chooses a job that entails having sex.

RE: Pornstars Aren't Damaged Goods?
Its not about taking dick on camera.
its the whole industry and the question of WHY are you doing it.

Women that get into this business are "fundamentally" damaged.

Go watch a couple clips from billy watson. The way those girls talk..those words shouldnt come out of someones mouth so nonchalantly.
just about all of them have the "damages" billy talks about.

the few that dont..more power to them

RE: Pornstars Aren't Damaged Goods?
Let's break this down.

Make a lot of money: Check
Party all the time: Check
Get tons of attention: Check
Satisfy a primal desire: Check

I can see why pornstars claim to be happy, especially if they come from shit backgrounds. This will only last as long as they are in the business. Once they are old and used up reality will set in. Of course, there are tons of betas out there that would cut off their left nut to wife one of these bitches up.

Look at Sasha Grey. She skyrocketed in the industry, and quickly became the most recognizable name in porn. She is still in her prime, but what is she going to do now? She can't teach children because parents aren't going to want a woman of loose morality around their progeny. She's trying to make it as a "real" actress now, but I doubt she will do anything of note, as we don't watch porn for the acting. She's trying to do other modelling, but, while attractive, isn't supermodel material. Her whole value is based on how many dicks she can take. Sure, she may be happy now and feel her justifications for being in porn philosophically sound, but let's revisit this in 20 years when she's in her mid 40s and long forgotten.

This is the flaw in the study. They are surveying girls in their late teens/early twenties, the most solipsistic demographic there is. I would like to see them survey these same women again a few decades from now. I'd be willing to bet at least a third are dead, a third are still doing porn/hooking, and the other third are spinsters. Only the tippy top of names can transcend the industry and have some semblance of a normal life afterwards (e.g. Jenna Jameson).

RE: Pornstars Aren't Damaged Goods?
If you do regular "hot girl' porn, then you're telling the world that you'd rather get fucked on camera than spend some time finding a steady man with average income (enough for two to live off) to marry. Which is booooring. But if you had that much IQ and foresight you wouldn't be considering porn anyways. Catch 22. In previous times, women from poor families had to whore when there were not enough eligible men to marry. Now its flipped.

This reminds me of some of the issues that Adam Glasser ("Seymour Butts") had on "Family Business," the reality show on Showtime about the porn business. He was pretty much a normal dude, but when it got to the point where he told dates what he did for a living (shooting, producing, and occasionally starring in porn flicks), that would be the last time he heard from her. He had a kid (from a porn actress), but even had problems with dating chicks in the business, because THEY got jealous of him filming other chicks. Crazy.

In order to be doing porn in the US you gotta be somewhat messed up. There is so much opportunity in North America. I can understand if the study was of women in developing countries having sex for money that maybe they were just as normal as girls who didn't but in North America to put yourself through that life I think there has gotta be something wrong with you.

They may be a nickel short of a dime bag but I respect a chick that uses her pussy for financial gain and is HONEST about it.They wear their sluttiness on their sleeve versus hiding from it or behind it. At least you can see these broads coming from a mile away...it's better than commiting to a chick and then finding out AFTER THE FACT that she's been on a hundred dicks before yours.

What about a girl that has done nothing but solo/masturbation porn? I'm not so sure I'd consider that damaged goods, especially if she's super attractive, which the solo girls tend to be, because otherwise what's the point of watching them.

RE: Pornstars Aren't Damaged Goods?
What I've noticed with porn actresses is that only a handful of them stay in the business for a prolonged period of time. There are only so many young starlets that go on to become MILF's & mature stars later on. A lot of them do end up leaving the business. Others end up on drugs (ie. Chasey Lain), a several have died of various causes, and the list goes on & on. It doesn't seem like an easy business to survive in. Nina Hartley is one of the few true veterans that has survived in the porn game for an extremely long time. She is 53 and still actively fucking on camera. She banged 2Pac back when he was still alive (she was in his "How Do U Want It" music video).
