I actually just got back from Cabarete and Sosua. Fucking 90% of the girls are pro's everywhere you go. It gets very frustrating. That part of the island seems to subsist on tourism, and because of the economy, times are tough. We were often the only tourists around, so the pros would literally swarm and follow us from bar to bar, sometimes even arguing with each other who got to talk to us.

I met a couple hot normal girls, but unless you live there, they have absolutely no interest in bothering with you (at least the ones I met didn't).

I also found "shoring" to be more difficult there. The girls are really not flexible with the money situation... that said, I did bang one of them for free, although she threw a bit of a fit when I left, lol. Oh well...

Conclusion: Unless you really want to know how to kite-surf, don't spend more than a couple days. I don't mind prostitutes, but they get really boring after 2-3 days. Glad to be home.

I think you kind of "mistimed" your trip. Going to the Caribbean in August is like going to Iceland in January.

There are still a lot of hookys in the winter, but not to the level you had. Or I should say not to the ratio you had.

We actually did the pool party. We rented out a villa on the beach instead of hotel. Got about 5-6 girls to show up. Half were pro's but were off duty. That's where I banged mine without paying.

But other than that, the bars were wall to wall pro's.

This was exactly my experience in Dominican Republic in the areas of Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and 2 days in Santiago.

I was in Santiago almost a year ago for one my best friend's wedding. I only stayed for a couple of days because I couldn't get off from work for the whole week. I stayed in "El Gran Amirante" which has a casino attached to it and a Friday's restaurant across the Parking lot. The hotel was $175 bucks a night but the service was horrible and the rooms smelled like mold. I noticed that the hotel had a desk dedicated for American Airlines employees so there might be some Flight attendant action. The hotel is located sorta like in the outskirts of town. All the action seems to be concentrated along the "Monumento" where there are a ton of bars with plastic chairs and tables catering mostly to locals and it looked very seedy. There are also some upscale spots scattared all around town. Santiago is mostly an industrial city, Call centers and sweatshops are big here. So there's a lack of touristy stuff to do. Therefore, I would only go to Santiago if you have a specific reason to be there or you know a local who can help you get in with his social circle. Otherwise, If you go there by yourself you are going to be bored, middle class Dominicans can be extremely cliquish like back in HS. I was surprised that I did not saw any hot women walking around like I usually see in Washington Heights(Little DR in NY). My boy told me that most of the locals go to the beach and resorts during the weekend so the city is basically empty. However, my hotel lobby had about 10 Ho's loitering around the lobby area around 3am and to say they were hot was an understatement. But since I don't pay for pussy under any circumstances, I went to my room to spank the monkey instead. The best bet to have a hooker free vacation in the DR is going to be to hit the resorts and banging the European tourist who go there or locals who are there "day passing." A lot of resorts in the DR even the top notch ones sell "day passes"(hang out and use the resort amenities all day) or " night passes" (same as day pass but they can spend the night) to locals for as a little as 50 bucks a night, some of them don't pay at all if they their "primo" works for security. Thus, just because you see a local chick chilling in a 5 star resort in Punta Cana doesn't necessary mean she's on the up and up and she's balling. She can still be willing to do something strange for some change. Dominicans are one of the largest Latino nationalities in Europe and the US, so they have made an art form out of hooking and reeling foreigners.

stay away from cabarete and sosua unless you are looking for pros, thats all that is there.

I have heard nothing but great things about santiago from the guys LIVING in DR. They have more of the lighter skinned girls I like without the mulatto influence. I tend to prefer (tho I still dont discriminate hehe) the more slender faces with nice tan, to the big nose variety. I have been told numerous times, santiago is the place to go.

Although most of the people in Santiago aren't pitch Black they still have significant "black features" for the most part. They look indistinguishable from biracial or light skinned Blacks you see back in the States. After all, Haiti is right next door.. If Black or Mulatto Women aren't your thing, then you are better off going elsewhere else like Puerto Rico, Argentina Southern Brazil, etc.

@zanetti, a lot of Dominican actress and models in the US actually end up playing "Black" characters. For example, Zoe Saldana in most of her movies before "Avatar" she was always type cast as a Black woman. I guess the reason for this is because in Spanish media like Univision and Telemundo you aren't getting a role in a soap opera unless you are almost Scandinavian looking.

That's the big difference. If you're a white guy LIVING there, then all of the non-pro locals open up to you.

With that said, the people were all friendly and the food was very good and affordable. All in all, I had a good time there. The nightlife just got old very fast.

This is a very good question, whenever I go to the DR, I avoid the whole Cabarette, Sosua and Puerto Plata "hooker triangle." because is tough to go against the grain when everybody else in those towns are paying top dollar for pussy. The only advice I can give you assuming your Spanish is ok. Is to shoot for "infrastructure" workers like bartenders, resort staff, time share saleswomen, etc. You kinda have to be attracted to the whole Black or "Dominican look" because like i wrote in another thread, single White women in resorts are usually only interested in fucking local guys.

Some tips on Sosua restaurants:

- Orchidée : bad food.

- Café Cubano: good sandwiches of all sorts. Nice waitresses.

- Oh la vache (wifi from nearby pub Britannia): great food (amazing steak sauce poivre vert) and friendly waitresses. Owned by a French guy. (the pizza is not bad but it's not Italian dough style, more like a bread or cake dough)

- Casa Valeria (wifi): good breakfast. But lunch and dinner so so (good salad and burger, bad vegetables and sauce and usually quite tasteless meat and meals - German cook... German food is not very famous, for a reason. Even his bratwurst is not good actually). Very friendly waitresses

- Rocky (wifi): bad food but friendly waitresses

- La Finca: greasy food.

- Bailey's: ok food. One part has friendly waitresses around the bar and the restaurant has unfriendly waiters.

- Bologna: lame pizzas

- Terra linda (wifi): good food but asshole waiters.

My best find:

- Nuevo simply red (wifi), owned by a Belgian guy and his Haitian wife. a bit hard to find. You should take a motoconcho (taxi) for 25 pesos (50 cents USD) to get there from anywhere in the center of Sosua. It is not well known by mototaxis yet either but you can go to Bologna (you go down the road from Sea breeze hotel, pass the baseball stadium and it's 150 yards down there)
From Bologna, it's 50 yards further down the road (when you go out of Bologna it's on your left). Food is excellent, cheap, well presented and there are nice waitresses

I tried Pizzeria Pomodoro in Cabarete, thanks to Lumiere's tips. The Italian owner and the waitress are really cool. The pizza Italian style is good (mine was just a bit undercooked and without salt. Nothing that can't be fixed). It's only open after 4pm

It's not so easy to get to Cabarete from Sosua in my experience, either by moto: 150 pesos, by taxi: 300-500 pesos, or by shared taxi (7 people in a small car... for 20 pesos. Next time I'll pay 2 seats to not be squeezed like that) or much more people in a mini-van. I didn't find the middle range between 20 pesos and 300 pesos but I think there might be regular buses. People in Sosua just didn't know where.

I did quite a lot of one hour Dominican massages (500-700 pesos). These are real massages with no "extra" possible.

The small places with black girls (usually from Haïti) on the other hand, you can get one hour massages (and if I understood well from talking to the girls in French, blow jobs or sex for like 10-15 USD). It didn't look clean though (no running water in these small places).

As I wrote in the travel section, I hooked up with a few hairdresser girls, secretaries and pharmacists but if you're only staying for one or two weeks, it's quite clear that it's not what they're looking for. I dated a few of them but didn't call most of them back after one date. I didn't want to date them 3 times, fuck them once and leave, except if I had an exceptional connection with one of them, which I didn't. In 2 weeks, I've had 2 girls but they were probably semi-pros on the side.

In my opinion though, regular girls here are very open to dating foreigners (provided they stay more than a few days or such). Almost all the waitresses and girls I talked to on the streets were openly flirting with me (much more than in Colombia or Brazil I feel) and they're my kind of girls too: not too white and not too black either.

The only problem here is that as I'm on a short holidays, I don't want to spend time in bad expensive hotels without pools in Santiago or Santo Domingo just to run day game on girls (which are probably the best places to do it since there are much fewer tourists there). I would perhaps do it if I had a couple of months but then again I'm pretty sure that I could also get beautiful girls even in the more touristic places, if I had an apartment there. The hotter girls always asked me first if I lived there.

As for the black gangs from New york stuff, I think I might have seen a few of them but most black guys here are either locals or middle aged friendly professional guys from the US or young working (middle) class hip hop guys who didn't look threatening. But it might depend on the time of year too

I've been to the Sosua area about 15 times over the past several years. I have not been there in he last 3 years, but plan to go back in 2011 for a short stay.

When I first went to Sosua, the girls weren't as hardcore and there were a lot less Haitians. The growth of information about Sosua from various forums and cheap flights from places like NYC brought about an influx sex tourists. Unlike the Euros, these are mainly young black urban males. I remember one time seeing a crew of maybe 20 guys who spent a whole week riding around in mopeds wearing wife beaters and acting thuggish. I think these are the type of guys the above is referring to. I have never seen real hardcore organized gangs like the Crypts in Sosua, unless this is a new development?

The Sosua area is still a good time, but, for the most part, the days are gone when you could get TLN for pizza and a few drinks. Now you have wanna be ballers in Classicos and a lot of guys that speak no Spanish, have no appreciation for the culture and tend to drive up the prices cause the only thing they have to offer is money. Even the infamous Kenny Graham, who got arrested and kicked out of Rio, is now in Sosua. From what i see and hear, the talent pool has gone down. There is a lot more riff raft and transvestites (mostly Haitians).

With all that being said, you can still go to the Sosua area and have a great time. For me, the key is to not just stay on the strip. While on the strip, you might want to check out the remodeled Passions though. But, go to Puerto Plata, Charamicos, Monte Llano, Costombar (not only Blackbeards either), Santiago, La Vega, etc. You can have a great time and meet nice women that will down for having a good time. This is as much as I can say without making this post too long. I hope this helps someone.

I went to the border with Haiti to a market town in the SW

God damn, that was enough. What a complete shithole of a place. That place is like an open sewer. Also they have curfews in place at night so your night out will be a night in.

If your idea of a holiday is a country were people eat baked mud to stop themselves from starving to death and you stand a good chance of being kidnapped then Haiti is for you.

Having said that, some Hatian chicks are hot, I banged one in the DR and she was a freak in bed.
