Okay, so I'm sure plenty of people on here are familiar with this topic, but I don't think there have been any discussions of it here, so I'm going to get it started.

Apparently there are a bunch of non-Google-indexed websites where you can purchase all kinds of black market goodies, from drugs and weapons to (yes I'm seriously) assassination contracts.

The most famous one is the Silk Road, a site that's been dubbed "The Amazon.com Of The Black Market" (I don't know the link).

But there's plenty of other ones too.

My friends used to order weed off one of them back in the day.

I was browsing pics of some of these sites' online storefronts, and I was pretty amazed at what I saw.

There are weapons dealers with tons of glowing reviews from customers, cocaine dealers selling for $4 a gram, etc.

Pretty crazy stuff.

Apparently you need some special installation to actually view these sites properly or whatever, and all transactions are done with bitcoins.

Anyone here familiar with this?

yeah about a year ago I installed Tor and browsed Silk Road and other stuff. Got boring real quick though.

Yea, I've checked out silk road, didn't seem worth the trouble to convert my money and wait for it to ship.

You need Tor to get to the deep web, and you'll have to know the url of any website you want to get to, but finding an index of the most well known ones shouldn't be hard.

There's some fucked up shit on the deep web though, not my kind of thing.

Google bots cant be everywhere, there are tons of sites that arent even indexed by google and never show up on their search results.

Theres also private irc servers, newsgroups, ftps and all kinds of shit that are very well hidden away from the public. These are not websites so google will never crawl them. And its impossible to get in without having an account.

Im pretty sure you can buy pretty much everything online if you know where to look. Every once in a while they bust some child porno ring where the members are trading their shit online, are making videos on demand and all kinds of sick shit. And thats just the stuff that gets exposed, god knows whats going on in some corners of the intarwebs.

Yeah, I maybe saw about 30 secs of it and hope that I didnt. Ive never seen anything like that and hopefully never will again.

Only thing that pic got right is probably the cp,snuff, and black market crap. This picture is half trolling and half an attempt to generate extra network traffic as to make statistical analysis of that network more difficult by law enforcement types.
