This is a seriously underrated movie. Pretty much anything with Norton is worth a watch.

First movie filmed in NYC post 9/11 too. And the only spike lee movie I'd ever watch.

Mandy - another Nicholas Cage movie. This is most definitely a rental. Crazy Cage slaughters crazy bikers and cult. If you like Cage, might be worth it

I was pleasantly surprised to find the producers kept the globohomo messaging to a minimum. Though it is Freddie Mercury, you just can't have the story about Queen without it. It is very much there.

And it was interesting to see how far back it goes.
To me, it appeared that he wouldn't have turned gay if it wasn't presented to him. He had a girlfriend turned fiance, and in a more traditional society that isn't as depraved as ours, he would be married with kids.

Overall, I give it a B.

I just watched (for free) Bohemian Rhapsody, the Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic.

Before people say 'muh gay agenda', I'll just say that it was pretty well known that Freddie was gay (in fact I'm shocked people didn't pick it up sooner), and the movie did a good job keeping that in the background and making it more about the music and the growth of the band than his subsequent AIDS diagnosis and the gay lifestyle.

Rami Malek did an absolute bang-up job playing Freddie, singing like Freddie Mercury can't be easy but he nailed it.

But where the film struggles is that it didn't give too much backstory into the rest of the band, and the pacing was off - it was basically Freddie meets Smile, joins them, struggles a little and then all of a sudden they're writing the track the film is named for, then Freddie spirals out of control before the film ends with the performance at Live Aid (regardless of what you think about Live Aid - it's the reason we have brainless celebrities spouting SJW buzzwords and stances today).

Also playing is that while I like Queen, I don't love Queen - good band, but not nearly as good as say Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin, about equal to the Eagles, but definitely better than Aerosmith.

It wasn't as good as Straight Outta Compton or Walk the Line, but it was definitely entertaining enough to merit a watch. I would also give it about a solid B.

Nonpareil's top 10 most wanted biopics

10. The Beastie Boys
9. Red Hot Chili Peppers
8. Duran Duran
7. Motley Crue
6. Neil Young
5. Santana
4. Eagles
3. Pink Floyd
2. Stevie Ray Vaughan
1. Led Zeppelin

Hey go easy on Keanu...at least he made some classics like Point Break, Matrix etc.....he is like Anthony Hopkins compared to the Hemsworth dbags....the are the male versions of Jennifer Lawrence and I bet they did plenty of couch casting

Gah, fucking Google...Can't get a straight answer, just 'he sang some of the time', 'he did most of the singing' to 'he did none of the singing'.

Regardless of who it was, that it still sounded basically like 80% Freddie shows how insane his voice was.

But again, the movie showing his AIDS as a result of his 'being irresponsible and kind of a dick' and not 'poor, unfortunate and so, so brave' was the biggest and best surprise.

I can second that. Going in I thought they were going to half-ass it with a bunch of computertronics but I was pleasantly surprised.

A quibble here or there but otherwise solid. Good, but not legendary.

Anyone see the nominations for best picture for the Oscars? I cannot believe black panther got nominated for best picture. Just shows you how much SJWs have ruined all awards. I am sorry but black panther was a mediocre a film. The villain was justified in almost every decision he made (His uncle killed his father and just left him abandoned in America). He also beat the black panther for the mantle even though there was outside interference for the black panther's favor (Forest Whitaker stepping into the fight and the other tribe saving the black panther from death when he is thrown over the waterfall). Just represented how Trump won the election but people kept protesting against him and he is not their president. Even the villain's was an SJW woke type person. Every dialogue that came from his mouth was about how black people are oppressed or how they were enslaved. I am tired of Hollywood always promoting the message that white people are oppressors when every nation is guilty.

Took a date to the movies because she wanted to see it really badly (all that crazy hype). Had to try my hardest to stay awake for the 2nd half of the film.

I saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Not bad at all. The first half was excellent, it had a unique personality and great music themes. I actually thought that movie was going to be a masterpiece. But then the 2nd part was fucking boring they all started crying and the movie became complete shit.

I got turned back to John Wick (number one) by the good fellow John Mark.

My initial assessment and judgement of the movie remains the same (as it was those long years ago):

A terribly bad script of "one-itis" gone bad (and spare me the "matrix" colorizations). However, the gunplay is dancingly good but not realistic. 6/10 -- WWAWAFTLAA (Would Watch Again With A Friend To Laugh At Again).

RE: The Movie Thread
Fucking here we go..

This looks shit.. but the reviews are saying that it is Oscar worthy. Apparently its amazing.

The story of the protestant and the catholic queens of England and Scotland is a fascinating one.. here it seems to have been turned into a 'you go girl' story of strong women facing off against male oppression, with the same kind of men who died hundreds of years previously in a civil war for their queen Matilda suddenly realising that they are toxic males and are sexist and stupid and thats it.

Hard to shoehorn that into the spy vs spy one-beheads-the-other story of Mary vs Elizabeth. Who never actually met in real life..

A load of inaccuracies. Not least a major player in the Elizabethan court is.. a black man. Why not just have a Muslim and Anna Navaro to complete the set?

No prizes for guessing if he is a good guy or a bad guy in this movie. I hope I can say these things on the forum without being labelled a racist. It just gets me when the heritage of my country has to be rewritten to this extent and seemingly to prove ... Virtue Signalling? Kind of insane.

Everything about this film is supposed to be amazing apparently - when to me the acting and dialogue looks pretty shit.

One reviewer said "at the end I was left thinking.. what if we took the men in this story out the equation? Would it have been different between these women?"

Sure. Two Queens who never met and who wanted to eliminate each other to the point where one had the other killed..

But if only they'd have had a women only safe space... then they would have been skipping together with unicorns through fields of rainbow coloured flowers and unicorns.

Hilarious how they managed to put so many Africans into the British parliament - and into leading aristocratic positions no less!

Makes you wonder why they did sightseeing tours with Africans across the country even as late as 1850s because most people have never seen a black person in their life back then.

But here you were - black men and women ruling it all. Indeed - it was a woke time and the more woke you are, the more you realize that feminism and non-White diversity is our greatest strength!

Recently saw Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. This movie would get more praise if it wasn't animation but the animation looked great, good sound track and was a great superhero movie. Basically is the classic Hero's Journey.

I am still waiting for Hollywood to make this book into a film: "Black Slaveowners: Free Black Slave Masters in South Carolina, 1790-1860"

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Slaveowners...merReviews

Or perhaps Hollywood could make this biography into a film: "Black Masters: A Free Family of Color in the Old South," about William Ellison a former black slave and a wealthy and well-established owner of a large plantation who owned more slaves than all but the richest white plantation owners.

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Masters-Fam...0393303144

A study of history shows that slavery actually had little to do with skin color but with power and economics. In fact, "In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, more than 300,000 white people were shipped to America as slaves."

Don't forget the millions of Europeans sold in the Islamic slave trade, I've yet to see a modern film on that. I guess it wouldn't fit Hollywood's narrative.

So I went and saw Peter Jackson's WWI documentary They Shall Never Grow Old last night. His crew and him did a tremendous job restoring the footage and syncing with the audio of veterans talking about their experiences on the front. I hope he follows it up with a couple about the naval and aerial fronts of the war.

There was a good crowd mainly comprised of seniors or fathers with their teenage sons.

I was dragged to Vice by a friend, very effective and well acted/well made piece of film, sometimes hinting at truth in yet dripping in bias all the way through obviously, near the end they pin every democrat pet hate problem in the world like wildfires, pollution, Fox News and Alex Jones on Cheney in a montage. They say the right love conspiracy, but then they paint with the broadest of brushes here. Also the only people offering resistance to the invasion of Iraq are all "white conservative" meaning the smug Cheney family and/or Republican are the likes of non white Colin Powell (well acted btw). There is zero implication of the media in lying by omission and not being objective about the leadup to the war!

Did Adam McKay read 20 books on Cheney all from roughly the same political bend?

I await to see a film that goes after the Federal Reserve with such gusto! Or the Koch brothers in arms, Soros. Or Operation Mockingbird. I actually thought they might say Cheney was behind 9/11 at one point at the beginning o allowed it to happen, considering how much shit they were guessing at.

Crickets........

Honestly it was good overall if slanted, I have to hand to them. A mockumentary yet extremely blackpilling in the sense that this is considered "journalism" and "edgy".

RE: The Movie Thread
Watched a great film from the nineties the other night, Falling Down starring Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall. Douglas is an average guy who finally snaps on a particularly rough day. He sets out on an odyssey across LA to see his daughter on her birthday and give her a gift. Along the way he encounters some of the city's human trash and the increasingly unhinged manner in which he deals with them is dark yet hilarious. The film is a black comedy as much as it is a thriller. Duvall is his foil, a man we see in the film's opening traffic jam who is able to keep his cool and laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. He's got his own issues, including his own washed up crazy cat-lady of a wife, but his actions throughout the film show another path you can take in the hell that modern day life can be.

The film has many redpill moments. In an early scene, Douglas calls his ex-wife and their conversation tells us everything we need to know about his current lot in life. She tells him "I pay rent for the house now" and we know he is just another man divorce raped and defeated by the system. He can't even see his daughter because his ex-wife claims he is a violent man and has a restraining order placed against him. Yet when the police ask if he ever hurt her or their daughter, she has nothing to say.

The film feels particularly prophetic now, as many of America's cities continue to decline into urban shitholes and more and more "economically unviable" men continue to snap and go on mass shooting sprees. I visited LA and SF last year and at times these cities felt like a classed up version of the film's nineties urban wasteland. During the day vagrants wander the street, high outta their mind muttering to themselves and spazzing out while at night they all set up tents and camp under the freeway overpass. But hey, you can walk into a classy, upscale restaurant and pay $20 for an appetizer and ask to be served water, so progress right?

I was thinking that this is probably a film that never gets made today. Looking up some contemporary views of it and seeing the usual leftist buzzwords like 'racist' and 'white-privilege' wasn't surprising. Renowned film critic Tasha Robinson of the AVClub called it her most hated film of the nineties. Reading her academic jargon and conclusion that it was a "profoundly hateful film" you know she completely missed the point and couldn't take away her bias to view it as anything other than an angry white middle-class male movie. I found it quite tragic by the end. Something was fundamentally rotten with modern society to produce so many broken individuals like we meet in the film, and it hasn't gotten any better since then. Tasha is wrong (but you probably already knew that). This is a great film, highly recommended watch.
