I've been playing with the idea of collecting some of this stuff and making mixes out of it. In my collection efforts I remember from 10 ish years ago John B was doing this sorta 80's sound before synthwave became a thing more recently.

I checked his youtube channel and found this amazing video:





here is one that I remember hearing at parties around 2003 ish:





The style is there, but transitioning between DnB speed and songs from the synth genres could be difficult. I'm trying to come up with a collection that includes both the crop of tracks from this latest run of the style (2012-now, peaking around 2016, mostly build around soundcloud and youtube), stuff from the EDM sphere that sounds like it might fit, and maybe a sprinkling of actual 80's songs.
