RE: The Anthony Bourdain Thread (RIP)
Some unexpected turns in here.

I grew up rural poor. I know what that's like. I can comfortably both empathize with and judge the decisions those people make because I've been there and get it.

I've never experienced suicidal ideation. I can't even begin to relate to an inner monologue that tells you that it would be better to not exist than to exist. I hope I never do, it sounds horrifying. I'm not in a position to judge, at all, not because of some marshmallow-soft moral equivalence, but because I have no idea where to even start analyzing what that impulse must be like anymore than I can speculate on what it's like to be a bat and navigate in the dark by echolocation. While it's a terrible thing for his daughter and I think suicide is almost always unequivocally the wrong thing to do, I can't confidently point a finger and say "you can't do that, because I know I would not have done that in your position". I don't understand his position.

Travel and food, though, I can relate to. A lot of people who are simultaneously fascinating, admirable, and troubled people exist all over the ideological spectrum, and anybody can screw up a relationship. I'll confess that I never watched Bourdain's shows. No particular reason, but I'm putting No Reservations and Parts Unknown on the list now. Literally the least I can do is see what his work was all about and see if he left some good stuff behind.

This is fucked up on so many levels.

Why was he a cuck? Seems to me he did what most of us dream about. He didn't bluster, he just did. But sadly, mental illness is vastly misunderstood - even on this forum where I would've expected more.

He was an intensely political leftist faggot and I'm glad he's dead. If you believe, as I do, that the Left is determined to utterly exterminate you and everyone who looks like you, then you start wishing death on every active committed leftist out of sheer self-preservation. Personally, I also despise traitors, so that makes his death double-plus-good.

If you don't believe this about the Left then my comment will not make much sense to you. But I'm completely convinced of it, and my response to the cuck's death follow from this belief. Morality and decency don't apply to traitors who stand inside the city walls and open up the gates to let in savages who will kill everyone within, and that's exactly what cucks like Bourdain are doing with their politics. Since I don't want to get my throat cut, I'm glad when they bite the dust.

I really love his writing. I think he had great taste. His shows could be brilliant at times. I don't care about his politics. I hope his daughter can one day have some peace. I'll pour a little bit of fine bourbon out for Anthony tonight.

I am not happy he is dead, I actually liked the guy in some ways a few years back, and obviously have empathy for his poor daughter.

This suicide is disgraceful however and gets no RIP over here.

One of his quotes was “I DON'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU TO LIKE YOU OR RESPECT YOU.” If only everyone in the thread had the same wisdom.

RE: The Anthony Bourdain Thread (RIP)
If you say suicide is a coward's way out, you're assuming the person is thinking clearly. My father killed himself and I don't hate him nor do I think he took the cowardly way out. He was in a very dark place and it's foolish to think that a person stuck in that dark hole has control of all his faculties.

My dad's note he left behind indicated that he thought a life insurance payout was worth more to the family than his presence. This is incorrect but in his depression-addled brain it seemed reasonable; his circuits weren't firing correctly.

"Okay (and I'm laughing now, because this is so funny), so we're A) not supposed to give you flowers, B) pay you compliments, or C) look at you. Anything else? Because I'm struggling to figure out the reason why after hearing that, I'm feeling like I'd rather get fucked in the ass by a Cape Buffalo than ever have to sit through dinner with you. Maybe you can figure it out for me. When you do, let me know. I'll be at Natasha's house."

Just listened to Alex Jones live. He think Bourdain was about to come to public regarding probably some Elon Musk humanity stuff and thus got assassinated.

Wouldn't be the fist assassination by suicide happened to people.

I agree with you.

All I'm saying is that I'm not equipped to say that the difference between suicidal people who do it and suicidal people who are able to pull back is good character, as opposed to rolling bad genetic dice on late-onset bipolar disorder or early-onset dementia - or whatever other unknowns were haunting him, compounded by putting his faith in some bad women.

It's entirely possible that he was thinking about his daughter, and that in spite of that, his mental state had gone just that dark.

I differ on this one. I am not celebrating his death in the same reason why I would not celebrate Justin Bieber's, Miley Cirus', or Kim Kardashian's death despite those three being absolute degenerates and a bane to society. I actually enjoyed what Bourdain produced.

As one of the posters here noted, Anthony probably knew he was being programmed and didn't like it. That is the cost of fame nowadays. Your talent or contribution is not enough; you have to subscribe to the leftist agenda to stay famous, whether you are a singer, actor, or traveling chef. You are blacklisted in Hollywood if you dare stray away from the plantation. He sold his soul for fame and unfortunately the politics came with it. Famous people have 'handlers' to push their agenda and I see Bourdain as no different.

I even doubt that this is a suicide. I find it funny that in 2017, both Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington killed themselves within a month of each other, and in 2018, Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain do it within a week. Would not surprise me if they all had some intel inside the sex abuse going on in Hollywood.

I was a huge fan of his and RIP, but there is little doubt that a life of excessive alcohol consumption and smoking, plus tons of stress will predispose you towards depression etc. I don`t know if he "saw a psychiatrist," but that would also explain a lot. (medication) Also, even though he ate a lot of great food in his life, I think there are dietary components at play here also. (grains, sugars, seed oils etc.)

A great episode of a Cook`s tour that might also explain few things regarding his premature demise.

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.

He killed himself because he just got cucked for the second time in three years.

If I have said it once, I have said it a million times. Women should never have been given the vote, let alone sexual freedom. Disaster is inevitable once these things happen.

Nonetheless, this toxicity affects everyone and I know that I fall into these dark thoughts myself. It is almost like an existential crisis.

Do you fight against a toxic society? Or run away? or give into it?

Post of the fucking day, I'm glad someone called this out. The levels of mental illness, broken families, and spiritual barrenness I've seen in the West beggars belief. It's especially bad in coastal liberal areas. People don't realize that the hedonistic "party" lifestyle is fundamentally unhealthy. The west in its current form lives for pleasure, no wonder it's going down the toilet so quickly.

NEVER take anything Alex says seriously. Ever. He is great for entertainment and interesting ideas. That's it. Sometimes stuff he says turns out to be accurate, but I would wait for multiple confirmations from other sources for that.

Bourdain was a gentle soul and crushed because his wife Asia Argento, a former Hollywood whore who lied about whoring herself to Harvey Weinstein, was getting stuffed by a good looking younger man, and he found out about it. After his last "feminist" wife brought over jacked young men to their home while Bourdain was away on business.

Imagine being Bourdain. A gentle, inquisitive man, who genuinely believes in the goodness of women, only to be cruelly destroyed by them multiple times. Heartbreaking.

RIP.

These tragedies - suicides, overdoses, mental breakdowns - they seem to be happening more and more frequently. Every time I hear about a new tragic event, I'm reminded of this interview Dave Chapelle gave after he quit his super successful show at the drop of a hat and moved to Africa.

Almost a decade later, this part of the interview still sticks with me, and becomes clearer day by day. Hollywood, the entertainment industry, and society in general is toxic. No society where suicide is this prominent is worth being a part of, and should be actively avoided for your own safety.

These celebrities aren't weak, pathetic, people. They got to where they are through a ton a hard work and resilience. So to leave this world so easily shows that something is seriously wrong.

RE: The Anthony Bourdain Thread (RIP)
Did some background checking on Bourdain's estranged girlfriend, Asia Argento.

Despite the name, she's not in porn. But she may as well be. She has a bunch of red flags. What was he thinking?

Upper chest tattoo. Arm tattoos. A background of alleged sexual assaults by Harvey Weinstein, despite her being photographed with him smiling. Most of all, the only reason she was in the acting business to begin with is that she's the (spoiled) child of a movie director.

Judging from the recent story in the Daily Mail, it seems that he's been incessantly promoting her and giving her career breaks -- like helping her to be a judge in "X Factor" in Italy.

Then a mere few days after that, she "reunited" with a 28-year-old journalist named Hugo Clement. And it made the gossip mags bigtime. I'll bet the public humiliation was too much for him to take.

We see stars as larger than life and assume they're above the petty things we worry about. That's not really the case. Often, fame doesn't do away with things like jealousy and despondency, but magnifies them, since you're on the world's stage.

Look at the photos of that Daily Mail story, then imagine this was your longtime girlfriend who you were with a few days before, but who is now off with another guy getting the paparazzi treatment. Not good.

The irony of this is that Bourdain was a sex symbol to a lot of younger women -- especially twentysomething women I know. He could have gone down a different road.
