RE: The reputation system has been disabled
I think rep points worked in a good and bad way. If guys got repped a lot it would encourage them to post more and be rewarded more. Conversely if people didn't get repped for posting something they thought was quality they would be less likely to post anymore.

I posted one data sheet in a quite out of the way place and didn't receive any reps for it and because of this I didn't post any more even though I've been on the road for over a year.

Here is the last sight of Mixx heading out of the Roosh V Forum

Messing up your Game?

That sounds like Strong Game!

I offered to make them post-sex eggs. It screams mega beta

I like the idea of a thanks system.

Otherwise this whole debate has been a waste of time. People are getting too invested into this stuff.

It probably oughtta be shut down at least for a while so drama can die down and shit can get back to usual.

Personally I think Roosh ought to wait longer than planned before deciding. Enough time to give shit to die down, a few classy new members to be recruited, and forum discussion to reach a new optimum.

I could be accused of being one myself. In fact, I will admit it.

If Mixx wasn't one, he probably wouldn't have had the drive to delve into Colombia as hard as he did.

Yes, that is exactly right. You hit the nail on the head. The sole and overriding purpose of the rep system (and for that matter, everything about how the forum runs) should be to maximize the quality of the forum's content.

Excellent points overall as well, I agree with pretty much everything you said. I wish I could rep you for it. Tongue

If Mixx wasn't one, he probably wouldn't have had the drive to delve into Colombia as hard as he did.

I wouldn't go so far as to call Mixx an "egotistical maniac," but he was pretty hung up on rep points. As he raced through the 70s, 80s, and 90s, the frequency with which he brought up his rep count grew geometrically. Toward the end, he became like Rudy Giuliani and 9-11.

I'm not sure how others experienced this, but for all his talk Mixx never let the rep flow with me. It didn't particularly bother me--I didn't need a point from everyone--but I noted that he never dropped me a point despite his written compliments on my game. I'm not sure if that was a deliberate act, or motivated by some desire to maintain his healthy lead from any potential, future competitor. I certainly hope it wasn't the latter. I wasn't trying to win that contest; I didn't even enter.

Mixx will definitely be missed. Whatever his defects (and we all have them), he was a well-liked, valuable member of the community. I hadn't used his foreign data sheets (for which he seems to have been most valued), but I appreciated his perspectives on the game discussions in which I did participate. I liked that he was always active and willing to help newbs and veterans alike.

Perhaps he outgrew this place or, I hope, he simply got frustrated with it for a time and will come back.

I always got the impression that Mixx had a huge ego, and the need for validation.

Personally some of the "Mixx worship" or fanboys on here got a little sickening. There are a few guys who met him in real life, but I don't believe everything I read on the internet.

Apparently I'm not the only one who found his mother-daughter blow job story to be suspect. I think it might be more believable if they were crack whores and he paid them.

Furthermore for as much as Mixx talked the talk, I thought the vid of the woman's vagina from NYE was absolutely disgusting, in all my years of porn viewage, I don't know if I've seen a more atrocious vagina. It either looked like that woman was the Octo-Mom, a street walking crack whore, or a trans-gender with an artificial vagina. (Remember how huge that clit was? Puke) Here's the link: /thread-3330-p...+years+eve Also, didn't he once post a pic of an ugly woman who kind of looked like a man?

All I'm saying is that this guy tried to make himself out to be one of the greatest players alive, a modern day Casanova, and he came out representing with some nasty ass hoes.

Anyways, nuff said, I guess I sound like I'm totally hating on Mixx, but really aside from his acting like a 5 year old over this rep situation, I totally appreciate what the guy did for the forum.

However, I was never one to believe everything he said, or want to suck his cock with e-props.

(It's funny because I'm sure a week ago, this post would have got me banned) Punchballs

Settle down, this is starting to look like the same sort of roasting that Dash Global got once he was banned.

While I don't get the need for validation, to me it appears the antithesis of inner-game, Mixx is still in the upper tier of valuable contributors.

He shares information, he meets people in the flesh, this means he is generous with his resources. Time and knowledge.

I would offer he blew a fuse, and we should endeavour to await his return without malice.

This is hilarious. I am laughing my ass off right now.

Go ask any valedictorian why he's studying so hard. I doubt you'll hear "because I enjoy going through this torturous sh*t and reading boring propaganda."

Go ask any student why he's studying. He's studying for a number. That number validates him. I remember there was a joke once where someone asked, "What's the purpose of school?" The student's reply: "To make an A." Think of what would happen if the incenvtives for students to "feel worthy of a number" were taken away.

Quote:"I find it hard to believe that you need a number to feel worthy or recognized instead of the many replies and praise you get for your contributions."

That's exactly what's wrong with the education system today.

What people don't get validation from numbers? Players get validation from their notch count. Rich people get validation from their bank account number. Valedictorians get validation from their GPA. Roosh gets validation from his website view hits and stats. Smile The world is a numbers world.

You know what? This reminds me EXACTLY of those kids that practically kill themselves (figuratively) just to become valedictorians. You seriously think valedictorians study their f*cking asses off and sacrifice their time because they want to "learn, share, and connect"?

They do it to get recognition. They do it to get attention. Some do it as a coping mechanism (i.e. childhood abuse). It's an open secret (duh) that people study, not for the "learning, sharing, and connecting" politically correct bullsh*t, but for the praise, recognition, attention, and few benefits that the valedictorian title brings.

Whatever their reason, I say let them go after it if they really want it.

I have heard news of where there are now multiple valedictorians or where the title of valedictorian is completely done away with. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

I am going to put my money where my mouth is and join Mixx with this protest.

Why the hate on Mixx? Where were all the criticisms of Mixx when he was active? Why didn't people actually have the courage to tell it to his face instead of now when he's disappeared? Despite claims of being a "maniac," he was a valuable contributor and helped guys out a lot. Is this what you guys do to a guy that has helped you out so much over the years?

I understand that the tone of my writing is a bit harsh, but I didn't know any other way to express my thoughts, and this is nothing personal against anyone. I have nothing against anyone here, but I am deeply concerned over the direction RVF is going, and this is definetely NOT the right move.

Frankly, I think a break from the RVF is a good thing. Going cold-turkey on my RVF addiction.

Hello.

Apart from those little ego threads at the end, I don't think the rep system can be fairly claimed for doing harm to anyone.

And personally, yes I think MiXX's reaction to this announcement was immature, but I'd love to see him back, no regrets or apologies needed. We all understand how that can happen and why the announcement would look hurtful at first.

I can't help but feel this was a good idea. My rep count was a unjustifiable higher than a few guys here who've brought a lot more to the forum and been here longer than I have. Seriously, if basilransom and Vicious have less rep points than a high school kid; something's wrong with that system.

Also rep points favour guys who drop lots of datasheets on the Travel forum plus I didn't think it rewarded "Game" knowledge enough.

What smack talk?

The bottom line is that if rep whoring was starting to have a negative impact on the quality of content and THE COMMUNITY, then surely the best interests of THE COMMUNITY come first?

The guy took it personally, put his own need for personal validation ahead of anything else, and the response that got from the community was one of disappointment in those actions. Every single person who was critical of his actions acknowledged his excellent contributions and value he brought to the forum.

What is the problem guys? He has been called out just like anyone else would be?

Jesus nothing stops him responding to all this either and its not like he is not going to read it. Who is saying shit behind peoples backs? No one is attacking the guy, just expressing disappointment that he acted like a cry baby over something pretty silly at the end of the day.

He is well liked by many and I hope he returns.I think he will come back when he calms down. I think the decision regarding rep though was made with good intentions, even if he and many others dont agree with it.

And if anything Speakeasy, the fact that your rep count was lower than many of the regulars here shows how flawed it was too. It was hardly a perfect system and maybe its served its purpose.

Ali B and El mech. Thanks for the wooden shoes and the windmill, i won't leave my house without them anymore. i can't help noticing that those gifts were wrapped with sarcasm.

About Mixx, I'm not a fan boy and find his actions a bit drastic. About him getting high on rep points, If you have fanboys and no one has the balls to criticize you, people might react like they are the king.

I did critisize him on a couple occasions, this being the most recent one.
/thread-10766-...#pid170919
I had a brutal comment about the mother/daughter story but toned it down to a half compliment because i didn't want to get warned or banned for attacking el grande Mixx.

I also had strong doubts with the story about his guerrilla style escape after banging a drug lords daughter, the 117 notch count of 2011 and the getting raped by 15 girls story. I kept my mouth shut because that was apparently the thing to do here, since no others said seemed to doubt it.

That pussy picture was indeed hideous and borderline sickening and i wondered why he posted it in the first place.

That said, i still think he is a great poster and will be missed if he decides to stay away or start his own forum with ultra fanboy Drymarro who seems to have a boner for Mixx.

A rep moderator is still a good idea me thinks. An independent guy who judges given rep points or keeps it in line when an excess of points is given out. Sort of like a referee. I don't care if i lose points this way as i explained in my other post in this thread. I really don't value rep point given by newbies just passing through here. Rep points from respectable posters i value 10 times more.

I hope things will be back to normal pretty soon.

PS, i'm of to smoke some fine Dutch green herb.

If his claimed notchcount for 2011 had been much higher I would not have believed it. BUT, theoretically it is believeable. If he went out hardcore 4-5 times a week it'd be a 50% lay rate each time. Which I find to be consistent amongst "elite" level players if they have sweet logistics. Similar sort of concept to G's 100 girls a year, he breaks it down to two girls a week. I wouldn't be able to wrap my head around any more than that unless you're famous.

I've never once thought MiXX lied about anything which wasn't supposed to humorous and/or absurd. Those two things are part of why we love him. He's a very entertaining man, I could only imagine the shenanigans I'd get up to with him if I met him. All of it is part of his package/persona.

Reality is, considering how many "Alpha" males we have on this forum, beefs like this are bound to be common place. Pardon the slang, but we have a lot big dicks in one room. We need to ease up on the pissing contests. Some regular (and valuable) members here downright hate each other because of their personality clashes.

Nah, disagree. External validation seeking is a sign of low self esteem. Someone with high self esteem knows he is great because he is. Not because girls want to fuck him, he gets A's on his report card, or he drives a $300,000 dollar car.

Besides, all this external validation people seek, honestly, nobody really cares about your life enough to spend all day praising you. And if that is what you are after going about it by screwing tons of women won't get you that kind of praise. Besides, the people who do throw nonstop sycophant praise at you are usually leeches.

Its been said, if you ever want an easy way to make friends win the lottery.

I doubt many people on here would value Mixx at all if he wasn't a successful player. Are those the people you want to gain validation from? People who only give a shit about you because you can help them get pussy?

In the real world, sleeping with lots of women doesn't net you a lot of social capital. Sure, you may get some hi fives from your buds, maybe a girl will please your ego once you bust her shit wide open with your latest God mode penis, but outside of that you won't get much fame, money, or expensive cars. (unless your game is so tight you can date celeberties on the regular who publicly acknowledge you and grant you a huge line of credit. If so more power to you).

I'm sure Mixx, Roosh, and G are in the thousands of notches range. Interestingly, I didn't hear about any of them until I found Roosh's site after I bought his Bang book. So it was Roosh writing a book that got me to notice him from the plethora of people online coupled with my desire to improve my sex life.

"Let me guess, your from Hell?" heh, I love using that line.

I think Mystery reached the pinnacle of PUA success, money, fame, his own TV show. Turns out his fame backfired on him. People made him out to be a gimmick, so much so, he had to dip to Thailand where nobody knew of him.

Bottom line? Do this shit for you. I like pursuing girls because I like discovering what a new woman looks like with her clothes off. I like filling the gap between the approximation of her naked body and finding out what is underneath her garments. It is superficial, yes, but it moves me, moves me to spend a lot of time chasing it. I am addicted to the revelation of nudity and the pleasure that comes from it. Not reputation points. Tongue

Michael Jordan won championships because He wanted to win for HIMSELF. Not because he needed the praise of everyone calling him the greatest. I'm sure most NBA basketball players want to win a championship, just like most writers I've met wouldn't mind winning the Nobel prize in literature, but I know that those people pursing their craft do it because they enjoy doing the craft, not because they are seeking something to put on their shelf.

Faulkner, my favorite writer, was mostly unknown as a writer until in his 50's when he won the Nobel prize.

After he won it he hated the fame that came with it and wish he never won the damn thing.

Kafka died unknown as a writer. Hell, he wanted all his manuscripts burned on his death bed. He still wrote though.

Love of the game man. That is the best mindset to have if you want to win.

Time for a different mindset.

I am feeling you on taking a break though. This site has sucked all my time man. So addictive. Maybe I can limit my Roosh V time to Sundays. lol.

RE: The reputation system has been disabled
Mixx had a big ego but it's that ego which led to the interesting experiences he shared here, so I won't fault him for that.

I don't want to turn this into a Mixx eulogy because I hope he will be back, but a part of me thinks he outgrew this forum and would be more happy if he created a site of his own where he would call the shots.

He has to understand that what's in the best interest of Mixx is not what's in the best interest of the community at large. He wanted a private forum to share details with his friends, not an open community where everything is public. By attacking "selfish lurkers", calling for an elite forum, and using reputation to judge others, he tried to mold the forum into what would make him happiest, but in that case the RVF you know and hopefully love would not exist today. My principles of running a forum are at a dipolar opposite of his.

So in the end it comes down to forum governance. I think my style is doing a good job, but it's helpful to occasionally have these types of threads to get feedback from everyone.

RE: The reputation system has been disabled
Roosh has been transmitting tons of info totally free via his blog (nearly daily), forum, and newsletters for years. Guess what...? People still buy his books, in fact, because of that, we know and trust that we'll be getting our money's worth.

So when a member comes up with a scheme like the airbnb thing and then declares that it's so high end that they need to start a private forum so that this and other similar ideas won't be wasted on the masses, it's a bit ridiculous.

Speaking of that, is it really "next level game" to be renting out a room in your house on the beach for 200$/ night less than it's worth? It's clever but it also provokes a philosophical question here about what constitutes "game". Is it approaching confidently, escalating etc? Or is it devising lifestyle schemes? Or both? I believe that if i had responded this way a few days ago, I'd have been accused of being a troll and expect there'd have been calls for my banning. That's what was distasteful and became an abused aspect of the rep-point system.

Another thing was that some members here actively contribute data sheets, etc. Great...good for you. It's appreciated. Keep writing them if you want to share info. If not, don't. The ones that do, shouldn't accuse the rest of us, who participate in the forum in a civil way, of being "lurkers", and be quick to threaten us with banning b/c somehow we're freeloaders leaching off of priceless, under-appreciated data. That type of thing came up recently and it seemed to be aggravated by the rep issue.

Having said all this, Mixx made informative, inspiring posts, and he was always helpful whenever i posted a question such as where to live in Miami, etc and I am appreciative of that. (I think I even gave him a rep point for it). I'm sorry that he got caught up in his forum "cred" and left over something petty.

RE: The reputation system has been disabled
The one thing that bothered me is other members saying you can't ask a question unless you have reps. This was never something I believed it. I like helping people, even strangers, and as long as they do a search first, I want to answer their questions. I really don't care if people mooch. Attacking lurkers is like the RIAA going after MP3 downloaders. It's futile. I rather moochers stay out of the way then make half-assed contributions to get their rep up. There will always be guys like me who, for whatever reason, like sharing wisdom from their tree of knowledge.

Speakeasy and a couple others were here from day one. It was a small community, for sure, but we all shared information and learned from each other. Reps weren't even used. I don't buy into the "sky is falling" argument that pro-rep members are using. And now others are pushing for a Thanks system which is the same as Facebook's Like thing. Do we really need another number to judge our contributions?

If you like something you read, give it a rating or post a reply. There's nothing wrong with "Great datasheet" replies. You can also do a +gift that elmechanico has been using. For example, I'd like to go back to the Poznan datasheet and give it this gift:

I'll now work on getting some type of Hall of Fame system.

I dont want to hijack thos tread but am I the only one who thinks Commander Shepard is trolling. The guys been writing less than a week yet has over half of his posts are on this tread. Stop telling established members how to run things when you havnt even added any real value yourself.

Yes, I can be a bit of an asshole, and some of my post on this thread were hyperbolic, but I am certainly not trolling.

Half my posts are on this thread because I like engaging in this discussion, as many people on here do, hence why the thread has so much activity.

I've contributed to this forum. Look at my commentary about Madmen (in which youngmobileglobal said I had a good write up),and the SEC school thread, where I gave a "data sheet' of sorts about Athens,Ga.

Do your research before you are ready to accuse someone of trolling.

I am starting to fear that trolling accusations on the forum are becoming the modern equivalent of branding someone a witch in colonial Massachusetts.
