I would not hate on them too much for trying this. They obviously believe in the concept of a large nuclear family. I'm jealous a little bit because I wish I could have that many, blood or not. My wife is too weak and too much of a modern Chinese woman to handle a large family. I'm still blessed to have the two I have though.

I am a little concerned about the virtue signaling so I can see the skepticism. Brad Pitt and Jolie are not Christians, or rather they do not seem to be serious ones, so this could be a bit different. That said, that's a fuckload of work they have just thrown on themselves. They have to culturally change those kids plus the work of raising them. Thats going to be hard as fuck.

EDIT: Samseau is right on. Baby Christians are often too eager to showboat their faith unfortunately. They need a dose of reality, but that could cost one of the kids their life, should they fail to meet that challenge.

So many Christians seem to miss the point that the problem with the Pharisees was their false piety.

They wandered about in opulent robes, secure in their finances, performing all the mandatory ritual cleansings, and thinking they were above it all. That their place was guaranteed by all of their 'holy' behaviour. Christ came for those who lived in the real world and dealt with real challenges -

All telescopic philanthropy is virtue signalling: no exceptions.

They could have adopted 8 American orphans of any ethnicity of their choosing, and used the resources saved on other charitable ventures.

There's a reason they chose not to dedicate their resources to helping those closer to home.

There's also a reason they chose not to adopt some passably-white-looking kids orphaned by Islamic militants killing their parents in the middle-East.

It was important that the children both resembled them as little as possible, and were from an area firmly associated in most people's minds with crushing poverty. Because the act is about them, not about the children. Hell, if you care about the kids so much, why not use your resources to pay someone in their own country to adopt and raise them instead of transplanting them into a foreign land.

It's also a possibility that the intention is to groom these kids to be sent back to their home country as evangelists of whatever fake-ass McChurchian sect they belong to.

It can be dicey business, if you have spiritual beliefs, coming to conclusions too quickly about other believers.

Anyway, I think it would be pretty hard to adopt that many kids at once and keep it a secret, and I don't begrudge them the paltry attention they will get from their book in comparison to the amount of work raising a sudden family will be.

A lot of this comes down to prayer life in the end. If it came from the big G it will work out.

Another scripture they are successfully fulfilling is Matt: 34-46. I think these two will get the first speech in these verses, not the second:

Sierra Leone is one of the shittiest countries inside an already shitty continent, where the per capita GDP is about $300 annually. Being raised by a delusional narcissist or not (who has quit her job to run the household full time, as well as homeschool the two eldest), they are unbelievably lucky. Relatively speaking, they are just as lucky as if they had won the lottery. They will become American citizens(I assume), have access to first world education, first world health care, first world nutrition. These are opportunities that only the tiniest fraction of their countrymen would ever dare to dream about. I'm really happy for them, and I hope they make the most of such a rare opportunity.

I see no contradiction between these verses. The first passage pertains to an individual, the second to a collective. Individually, we work selflessly, which results in a collective no one else can ignore.

Apparently from the book review we learn that the marriage was troubled at the start before they decided to tough it out and adopt. Looks like the man was a weakling who was willing to do anything to keep his pussy.

Indeed we shall see, and I do not want to totally dismiss the actions of this woman entirely. Adoption is a noble deed, even if she suffers from the flaws of narcissism and vanity. Her good deeds may outweigh her character flaws, ultimately only God can judge. We do not know all the details and are unable to fully judge.

That said, I can judge releasing the book with pictures and media attention and I can question her supposed noble intentions. Skepticism is a healthy attitude for all Christians to have, in order to avoid false prophets.

It seems to me she desperately wants to be accepted as a role model based on her supposed virtue, which also leads me to believe she is miserable and needs social validation to continue the marriage. So while she may be more virtuous than not, overall I must be extremely skeptical and conclude: Virtue not recognized.

Yes, had a total "Where is Waldo" moment trying to find the white kids.

Reading through article, it really sounds like the MILF was the driving force behind this whole thing and the husband was just along the ride. There are any number of red-pill reasons for this but I will leave it to others to expound upon them.
