I'm my experience, guys and girls really fail to read profiles. I still get chicks requesting as well as guys. I just switched it back to any just in case I'm missing out though. Lol. In reality I did it as a test way back and just forgot to switch it back. Most girls can look at my tons of chick references though and get the gist. As far as replying, I reply to everyone. In the case of guys, my line is simply "Unfortunately, I cannot host. Safe travels!" They usually just don't write back or say thanks anyway. If they get snooty, which has happened maybe twice in the 3-4 years I've been on here, I just ignore them or block them.

Just my 2 cents on my experience with hosting this summer.
I used to host a bunch of people in Krakow 3-4 years ago so I had a profile with a dozen references and some old photos.
Since I wasn't travelling for work purposes anymore and was staying in one place I decided to put my nice central flat in Warsaw on Couchsurfing.
The site has changed recently and looks much worse unfortunately. Initially I decided to remove all the old pictures of me backpacking and hanging out with hostel dwellers with something more professional. The first week I got crickets, no requests whatsoever. I then reverted to the old pictures and voila...not sure if the website was messed up or if the pictures made a difference.

Help me out here. I am a guy who only hosts girls. I used to host pairs of girls, but I took the advice of this forum and now only host girls traveling alone. I have banged about half of these solo girls. However now, it seems like all my references, which are from just girls, are adding up. All of my CS "friends" are from these girls too. I feel like I am starting to look like a player/hook-up-artist, to female travelers. I am thinking of starting to host girls "off the books". Mixx you definitely need to be hosting in Miami, you just have to be selective because you will be getting hit with tons of requests. Just be specific on your profile to weed out people you dont want requesting your couch. I have a buddy who hosts in Miami Beach with a roommate and he is killing the game down there. I host girls almost exclusively. This hasn't hurt me one bit. My page is pretty much all girls. I've been asked about hosting girls just to bang and sometimes I just admit to it with a cheeky grin or say that girls are less dangerous and I'm less afraid of them stealing my shit. Either way if it shows that you are ashamed of it or see something wrong with it, the girls will pick up on that. Most of the time, it really doesn't matter. You can also go to a meet up and have a guy or two leave you a review, most people will review you back if you proactively review them. Also, it's not the end of the world to host a cool guy once in a while. You'll just end up with a cool wing who maybe even has an accent or something that can help you when you are out. I try to avoid more than 4-5 consecutive girl reviews.

Problem is that most CSers are creeps...and it only takes one bad experience to fuck everything up for other hosts. I would block all possibility to message travelers if you don't have at least 10 references. The 10 message limit is a step in the right direction but not enough.

It's an inherent screening mechanism.

A girl who's put off by a guy who has all female references is not likely to be DTF. A girl who doesn't care is more likely to be DTF.

A guy with numerous positive references from women is pre-selected and vetted for to be cool, fun, non-creepy. A DTF girl is likely to choose this guy as a host over the old guy or the nerd.

If a girl is put off by a request for free accommodation from a guy with glowing positive references all from women, she's not likely to stay with me and I wouldn't want to host her anyway.

A good screening question is: What do you plan on doing during your stay in x city ? If she says that she will meet a friend or other bullshit like that then it's probably a good idea to bail. However, if she says that she's looking to party and someone to show her around then it's game on. You can also move the conversation to whatsapp and flirt with her just like you would with any other girl. If she's not receptive then you can safely cancel her, sometimes she will even do so herself.

Good point. I've hosted surfers who don't know anyone in the city and the experience was unanimously positive.

On the other hand, I recently hosted two surfers who had friends in the city. Both were negative experiences.

One spent her whole day with local friends and didn't come home until 1 AM. She left the keys on the counter with my apartment door unlocked before departing for her 3 AM train (I wasn't home at the time).

The other spent most of her time on Whatsapp chatting, calling and hanging out with her local friends.

Both times I felt "used" as a free hotel/shower/laundry. I felt that it betrayed the cultural/interpersonal exchange aspect of Couchsurfing.

If they have local friends why don't they stay with them? Why don't they include me, their host, in their plans?

Going forward, I'm considering only hosting surfers who don't know anyone in the city.

On the other hand, experienced CSers are more likely to take you for granted. At times I feel manipulated and "used" for free shelter. Perhaps, experienced hardened serial surfers have had better hosts in the past so they are less appreciative.

On the other hand new CSers have no other frame of reference.

It's got to the point where seriously I'm thinking of only hosting surfers with 0-5 references going forward.

I always do that. I never host experienced csers period. And I dont write references for all the girls i banged That way all the girls see is a mix of positive references from both males and females that didn't bang.

I rarely host these days as almost all my requests are below what I'd consider fuckable. In fact probably last time I hosted was last year. Mostly gay guys and hags sending me requests so I just say I'm busy.

In the past few years I'd wager I was hitting above 50% if not higher. I am in a big asian city, and still at most get 1-2 a week, so its no flood of pussy unless your in Paris / New York / London where hotel / airbnb accommodations are expensive.

First thing I do is facebook them and make sure their single and not a SIF. My profile makes it clear its not a place to stay, and I show a rather "uncomfortable" couch so if a girl is looking just for a nice bed to sleep on, she'll know it aint gonna be my place. So there's lots of preselection there. The glory days are kind of over but depends on which city. The 10 message limit helps cut down on spam, but also led to less couch requests foverall.

A friend of mine hosted a lot and he received bad reviews and got blocked from Couchsurfing. He is a friendly guy whom the girls exploited for free stays. The site attracts unfucked Erasmus girls who choose the most fuckable guys but act frigid and serious to all others. Like in hey, I love architecture in Prague but I come here to get laid by sex-hungry tourists. Even worse, couples ask for accommodation where the guy cannot pay for a hostel with his girl.

You can usually tell from the type of message and whether she's had any experiences before. Say that you guys will go out and booze it up and if shes enthusiastic its a green light.

All you gotta do is run normal game, get her drunk, and then afterwards she'll be right back at your place.

Alcohol is a must based on my previous experiences, but YMMV.
