Looks like none of you guys actually read the article. He's depressed because he's injured his back to the point that he can't even bend over to pick up a ball. He says all he can really do is play video games, and he's unsure if his back will improve at all. Who knows if its even in good enough shape for him to fuck.

goes to show, even with all the money in the world, if you don't have good health, you don't have anything at all.

That's fixable with some acupuncture. I recently got it done by a semi famous Chinese lady doctor, after my doctors told me I needed an MRI and surgery, and now I feel like I am 26 again. Is that too silly to drop a datasheet on?

He is vying for attention because he fucked up his family and has major regrets. Tiger is a known workaholic. He was deadlifting, squatting, and bench pressing like an NFL player for years as a golfer. Shit was extremely unnecessary. Now he has the durability of a NFL player in their 10th year. Too many people warned him not to train like a Navy Seal, but he refused to listen because he wanted to show off to Jordan and other famous sports friends.

His back can be fixed. Family? Only Jesus could heal that dumpster fire and he does not seem interested in that avenue. If he was, he could just as easily go talk to Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, etc. To me he is still struggling in the DABDA stages. Even if you get to the Acceptance stage, there is still more to work on than just merely realizing that your situation is what it is. There is a great deal more to life than that as others have pointed out in this thread.

No way is 40 too old in golf. Players have won PGA tournements at over 50 years of age and the oldest player to make the PGA cut was like 62,63.

That's what confused me. 40 in golf isn't old by any stretch. I've read some people attributing him falling apart like this to PEDs. It's not something I'd believe at the onset ( mainly b/c golf doesn't register to me as a PED type of sport), but I don't know enough about how they'd as beneficial that they'd warrant use to the point where it takes a toll on your body.

Golf is a PED sport. Hitting a drive 15 more yards can mean the difference between a club. That in turn means that you hit more greens in regulation and have more chances to putt out for birdie whereas everybody else is chipping to save par. Take a look at tiger's arms when he first came on the scene and his arms a few years ago. In addition to the effect on muscle size, recovery is important as well. These guys aren't just playing 4 rounds of golf a week. They are hitting ball after ball at the range in different ways (punch shot, draw, fade etc...). That takes a toll on the body for anybody. Wrist problems are especially common. Shortening recovery time is a huge benefit.

Golf is one of the few sports one can play reasonably well right up to the golden years - which might explain why you have more retirees playing golf than say rugby or gymnastics.

The main meds I would think someone in the later years would be using would be anti-inflammation drugs such as diclofenac and ibuprofen, depending on how the joints are holding up, just so that they can back up for the next round without getting stiff.

Whilst the PEDs might be useful for driving the ball long and overcoming injury, it wouldn't make a difference regarding putting, chipping, strategy & course management (e.g. not hitting it into the water, the sand or onto the next fairway, watching the breeze etc.), club selection.

Golf hasn't always had a reputation of being a particularly athletic pursuit, evidenced by the fact that even John Daly can still hit a ball around. Tiger Woods was one of the first to push the physical aspects of the sport by hitting the gym hard - and the idea of Tiger Proofing courses was because Tiger could hit it longer and straighter than most of his contemporaries.



There's also have old-timers events where you can still see PGA veterans such as Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus play, people are still prepared to see these guys long after their peak. No reason why Tiger Woods wouldn't still draw big crowds if he was able to get out onto the course more often.

Nah, acupuncture doesn't work for that. Herniations heal by themselves sometimes up to two years later. However, certain things are just too much.

I don't know the biomechanics of a golf swing, but from the twisting motion I don't think that would be good for someone with a messed up back, let alone someone that had three surgeries on it.

The PGA began more stringent testing some years ago, so I don't think people are using PED. The thing about Tiger's injury is that he damaged his back nerve and for it to recover is literally a coin toss. It will take time to heal and it is more unpredictable than say the knee injuries he suffered throughout his career.

I've recently gotten serious about golf, and I love the game.

For many years I've had a strong opinion about tiger's situation, and my recent entusiams for golf has solidified it. Here it is:

White people hate hate hate it when a person of color is better than them at golf. I personally shot my best round the other day but everyone I talked to afterwords had all kinds of advice and/or reasons why I didn't deserve to win the way I did. I get it.

Now Tiger got into some shit with his wife. OK. Unfortunately, he's in a game where instead of just saying "yeah I'm fucking these bitches" he's gotta be all proper and say he's a sex addict. If Phil Mickelson was banging chicks like tiger was, the headline would be "Phil Mickelson is a lefty" and that's it.

It was a vast conspiracy to shut Tiger down, and that's all I'm going to say, except:

I wonder if guys whose parents have decided they will be sports stars as kids, and raised up and trained with that in mind, living, breathing, and eating their sports all throughout their childhood have essentially been denied their childhood, and are more likely than most to blow up their lives when they grow up.

The same thing happened a while back to that kid they called RoboQuarterback, Todd Marinovich, and he kind of blew up his career and went on to do what he wanted instead.

I know that there are plenty of people who blow up their careers for all sorts of reasons, and this is only speculation, I am just wondering if it is common.

I knew a guy whose mom was dying of cancer when he was in high school, and none of his brothers and sisters did much to help her out, they were off doing their own things. The guy I knew took the responsibility of looking after her and taking up slack around the house and all during high school, he was like a little adult while the rest of us were off being teenagers.

All of the kids in this family were smart and driven and personable, and he was the funniest and cleverest of them all, best looking too.

Now, years later, all of his family has gone on to success in whatever field they chose, and he still seems to be drifting around, making enough money to live and maybe saving a little money and then blowing it all on some insane two weeks spent in Vegas or something. He is still single and has been taking college courses on and off for years, never graduating, and always has sort of plans for his life.

To look at his family you would think that he was the loser of them all, that is if you didn't know that he basically did everything for everyone when he was in high school.

I just wonder. Do people who can't really play and explore and mess around when they are young, people who have been forced to grow up too soon, do they end up seeking a kind of childhood, or make up for lost high school years for the rest of their lives?

There seems to be more going on to the Tiger story than that he had it all and fucked up. He certainly doesn't lack for money. Maybe he has to make sure everyone knows, really knows, he is done with golf, before he can go one to whatever it is he wants to do.

That Robo-Quarterback kid, I think, went on to be an artist and raise a family, and I think surfing is involved too. I hear he is happier than ever.

I'm almost certain he will soon admit he is abusing the pain medication he's been taking to try and fix his back so he can play again.

I don't think he wants to be done playing tournaments but his body is shot. Hopefully he recovers and gets his life together, with or without more PGA tour trophies.

It's not much about getting an Uber. It's an ego thing. There's a "level" beyond buzzed where you think you're OK and are not cognizant of your drunkenness. I've seen people drink, acknowledge they're buzzed, then drink some more....to the point they don't recognize being drunk, despite being clearly effed up. Then they try to drive home, and I just tell them to STFU and let me get them an Uber.
