What do you guys think about him being gay possibly?

Hear me out. When I was a kid, watching his show, he always seemed a bit soft. Almost like a flamboyant geek/nerd. Those fucking bowties never sold me, because he was not the type of person that truly wears those.

For example, all the college professors I had that wore bowties, spoke with a lecture like diction, that matched their meandering mental power. That quirkiness almost demanded a bowtie or a sport coat blazer that did not match their loafers or tennis shoes.

True eccentric men with huge brains, don't follow modern style very well or do it on purpose because of that disproportionate amount of brain power they do not use on social accumen.

Nye seemed to be doing it to give himself some kind of social proof as if he had an intellectual authority on something, even though he has none.

Guys like him and Lamar Burton just always made me wonder if they were gay. PeeWee Herman was no doubt flaming, retarded, or both, but these other guys should not get such an easy pass on this, just because they were less flamboyant than PeeWee.

Liberals/progressives use the word "science" in a talismanic sense; it's like a Biblical verse to them. A super majority of "science!" people have no concept of what it all means, how science is practiced today, what "evidence" is, or any of a dozen other topics. I would say that in the scientific fields, education matters, unlike in business, where it's mostly execution.

Expert: "The average Nigerian emits 0.1 metric tons of carbon annually. How many does the average American emit?"

Nye: "I did that with my coffee this morning "

Expert: "Sixteen metric tons is what the average--"

Nye: "so 160 times ? "

Expert: "Yeah exactly. So our two kids are way more problematic. The Nigerian with an average of 7 children are not the problem when it comes to climate change.

Nye: "So should we have policies that penalize people for having extra kids in the developed world?"

Having watched both of the posted videos, what struck me most was their complete lack of intelligent, thought-provoking content. There's no "science" — just people telling us things that we're apparently supposed to accept & agree with.

Take the one on gender. "We used to think gender was straightforward. There were males, and there were females. But now we know that gender is a spectrum."

And that's the extent of it. "We" used to think one thing, but now "we" are presumably more enlightened, and know better.

They don't appreciate what this argument actually means. If children (and adults) in the undeveloped world produce so little carbon on an annual basis in their home countries, what happens when these adults and children become refugees in a developed country? Do they use the same amount of carbon as in their home country, or an amount comparable to what a native child/adult would use?

They have just argued for limiting or halting immigration because the carbon footprint of immigrants coming to the US from undeveloped countries invariable increases, which is bad for the environment! If they truly believe that we should consider penalizing people for having children in the US, then it's a serious problem that outweighs the needs of resettling immigrants. I'm only somewhat amazed that his argument has not been against liberals on a consistent basis; it's essentially irrefutable (the only debate is whether increased environmental impact is more or less important than the lives of immigrants).

Of course, they don't really believe anything they say; it's just your standard propaganda...I mean, it's science!
