Dow Jones

If you worried about getting laid in the Philippines then don't worry. There hasn't been a single pointer here who has visited and not gotten laid. Guys have spent all of 30 seconds outside (getting into a cab and walking to their hotel from the cab) and gotten laid.

How's the nightlife in Manila right now? I'm planning a short 4 day trip next week

Hey fellas,

What's the best overall city in the philippines in your opinion? Ive been reading posts from 2010 and I'm fairly late lol.

Me and my friend are going in Jan/Feb 2017. Has anything changed as far as being a foreigner, gaming, etc.?
Buluwa · 2016-10-22 19:20:00 · #4054
I am in Manila now. I recommend Cebu and also Boracay. I would suggest staying on Boracay if you have time and just enjoy there. Great alternative to Cebu. There are plenty of tourist girls you can meet there. Palawan might be a good alternative to that if you want to meet tourist girls from here and abroad.

Philippines seems to really be dying down on this forum. Anybody notice this? Like really dying down big time. I know Duterte is making foreigners flee, but I wonder how much.

Thanks for the advice. My friend wants to go to Angeles. I have no idea why. He's been wanting to go for 5 years. We were supposed to go when we lived in Korea.

Welcome.

But just warning you, I know of nothing more being a draw other that it being a hooker town. If someone is drawn that strongly to it for something, I don't know how it can be anything other than p4p.

Swapping Angles city for Cebu might be an excellent idea. If just getting girls is what you want, I cant see how Angeles will be better than Manila unless you want to pay for sex. If he insists, then go, but just warning you, I recommended Cebu! or some other populous city.

Stricter Visa To Philippines For Americans – Rodrigo Duterte

http://www.morningnewsusa.com/stricter-v...14865.html

"As if severing military and economic ties with the United States was not enough, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte plans to implement stringent visa requirements for U.S. citizens.

In a conversation with the Filipino community during his visit in Beijing, China, the tough-talking president expressed his sentiments against Americans. During his speech, Duterte vented out his frustrations toward the Americans, saying the U.S. has lost and that he’s now aligning with China and Russia."

Wouldn't worry too much about it. He's had to put his foot in his mouth more than once.

Yeah. I just don't understand all the anti American sentiment. I'm pretty sure one of the reasons its so easy to visit, is because Americans bringing the tourist dollars must benefit their economy. Why would they want to discourage that?

But I read the whole article and do understand Duterte's point. That the U.S. does not allow their citizens to visit America easily. Its not equal treatment. Trust me I would love to bring a filipina here on a 90 day visa over the long cold winter. Would help keep me warm. Angel But its pretty much impossible the way things stand now.

There is a meme going around the Philippines that the United States "exploits" the Philippines and Filipinos.

I asked how is the United States doing that and they said well Duterte says so it must be true.

Duterte is hell bent on destroying the positive relationship between the Philippines and the United States because he was denied a visa decades ago.
Dagnasty · 2016-11-02 01:48:00 · #4063
As an Irish friend of mine and fellow forum member said, "I wouldn't start worrying until a Pinay refused to suck your dick because you're American."

I arrive today and leave the 15. Who wants to meet up?

LETS FUCKING SLAY

I'll be arriving in Manila in mid-November and am still looking for a place to rent for a couple months. Hoping someone might be able to offer some advice. My budget is less than 30k per month, all inclusive. Currently considering a place in Mandaluyong next to Shang ri La and a place next to MRT Boni (I like the idea of being away from all the other foreigners, and like that it is so close to the train, but am worried it might be too far for girls and also that I might get bored), as well as Jazz Residences and a place close to Trevi in Makati. Either way, if I am not happy with the place I ultimately choose, I will find another place for the remaining months.
nick_ · 2016-11-03 08:11:00 · #4066
In my experience no girls use the train as it's unsafe and overcrowded, so no benefit there. If it's near Makati you should be fine though.
Buluwa · 2016-11-03 08:44:00 · #4067
Near SM north EDSA looks very good. If there is any place right at Araneta centre Cubao, it will be excelent access. Girls from all over Manila can access you there.

That's certainly part of it. It's my understanding he needed that visa to visit his girlfriend in the US. Imagine his frustration knowing he couldn't see her while she was surrounded (and probably being pounded) by all those Americans. And then those Americans come to the Philippines and continue their banging of his women.

I think he also has a more practical reason. He kept the US military out of Davao so his citizens would become reliant on him and his family for security and improvements. The US could've done a great job there as they did in Zamboagna but that would undermine Duterte's influence, status and power.

And being able to have Death squads at your disposal is a very powerful thing.

He's doing the same thing he did in Davao, but on a National level. He recently said something to the effect that he couldn't do much about the US when he was just a Mayor, though he did keep him out of his city.

Now he can and has a huge ax to grind and that guy doesn't let go of a grudge, from what's been said by those who know him.

USA State Dept issued a travel warning about Southern Cebu Province.

It sounds like they picked up some information bad guys might be planning to snatch Americans.

Reading some of the comments. Interesting theories.

Some seem to think this is the White Houses way of hurting Durte via damage to their tourism industry. Issuing a warning like that will likely lead to less American visitors, thus hurting the Philippine economy. Sort of a back-door way of getting revenge.

Anybody with more knowledge on the Philippines have comments about this idea?

My speculation is this action is too specific and won't have a significant effect when the whole effect of USA-Philippines economic exchange is taken in to account.

I think someone at State heard something and is covering their ass; what would you do-- just think of the tens of millions or more of waste, the constant news coverage about the hapless victim and their family and the damage to the prestige of USA if some cretins succeed in kidnapping an American.

I think the huge amount of money flowing out of the USA into the Philippines consists of:

-- remittance home from Filipinos working in the USA ( I believe remittances worldwide are the single largest flow of money into the Philippines, I rarely see electronics, produce or other products made there. In contrast , there are TONS of Filipinos working at high paid nursing jobs etc and sending money home. Filipinos are genuinely charming and humble people and their spirit of helpfulness is valued worldwide in labor markets. )

-- Payments for BPO done in Philippines ( call centers)

-- Some from the hundreds of thousands of expats and retirees living in the Philippines.

" In 2015, the U.S. State Department estimated that there were over more than 220,000 U.S. citizens living in the Philippines.[2]"

I think the cultural affinity between the Philippines and the USA goes beyond what one individual politician can significantly damage, unless a lot of factors converge unexpectedly.

I also think State is smart enough to take the longer view that it doesn't make sense to go tit-for-tat with current leader because there's a single six-year term limit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_...hilippines

I'm cautiously optimistic that in political terms, this blip won't last. What will last is the 1400 year old war on non-violent religions by violent one(s). And there are VERY few cops around most of the time in Philippines except in prime wealthy tourist spots. Also, the archipelago geography makes it much easier to hide kidnap victims.
John_Galt · 2016-11-03 17:56:00 · #4072
As someone with extensive time spent in the Philippines, do you think there's any real threat or danger to Americans living there?

Or is it just a bunch of barking that's going to scare away tourists, making the Filipinas more and more desperate for American men?

IMO, those are the two ways to look at it.....either things get rougher, or they get even better. Smile
Buluwa · 2016-11-03 19:47:00 · #4073
If you are from any other country like UK, AU, or Canada, you will be in paradise.
There will be a sea of ever growing number of women(population is kinda of like exploding still) and plummeting foreigner numbers. More women by the day, far less foreiners. Anyone who does stay behind will get swamped in pussy.

Anyone here NOT from the US?
John_Galt · 2016-11-03 19:54:00 · #4074
Thanks for your input Buluwa.

How long have you stayed in the Philippines?

The threat to Americans is no different than any other Westerner who would make for a great kidnapping target.

They kidnap Indonesians and Malaysians also. Kidnappers need to either get you to a boat fast so they can travel south to Jolo area or if you're in the interior of Mindanao (west of Davao) they can bring you to a hideout there to be retrieved later.

Often it's a local gang that will kidnap the foreigner and then sell him to Abu Sayaff. It takes a lot of coordination to target the right person and successfully pull it off. So if you go to the more risky parts of Mindanao don't stay for too long. Just keep moving.

One tip I read is to always resist enough where they give up and always destroy your phone right away so they can't go through your contacts and find family members to demand money from.

If you look at the tape of the Italian who got kidnapped in Dipolog a year ago you will see the kidnappers tried to take others, but they resisted by falling to the floor, holding onto chairs and the kidnappers gave up on them quickly, the Italian didn't put up a fight.

If they don't think they can get money for your capture, they simply won't bother with it and there is nothing in it for them to kill you either.
