I'm in Munich now. was supposed to have a girl take the subway over tonight, but it's currently stopped service. Here's hoping she will take a cab!

I haven't seen refugees really since arriving, except for by this one subway station where they were loitering and sketchy, even for during the day. Station was Hbf I think.

I was just reading an article where Obama mentions that Trump speaks too much 'doom and gloom' and it reminds me of the idea of "depressive realism", a psychology idea that people that lean towards pessimism have a much more accurate grasp of reality. The reality of the modern world is that the 'relative' stale peace we've been living in for the last few decades is not the norm, it's the exception. People in my generation and President Obama's generation don't understand this, and think that peace, comfort, security, and civility are the norm. These things aren't natural by any means, and take much effort to maintain (the whole freedom isn't free thing). It's not all doom and gloom but to say things aren't going to go to shit when we've become lackadaisical about the effort we put into maintaining order and peace is a farce. The nature of the world is disorder, entropy. It takes effort and discipline to create and maintain order, there's no room for slacking.
