NASA - you made some pretty amazing claims publically on this thread on 3rd of May, then you totally disappeared off the forum for 9 days after 2 highly regarded members questioned the validity of what you are writing here.

Irrelevant false premise. NTP already mentioned he would be going dark for a while on 4/21:

Needless fearmongering. You guys are starting to sound like false rape accusers. I've exchanged numerous PMs and emails with NTP (through a burner address), where he's never asked for personal information, but freely volunteered personal details about himself without being prompted.

I was initially skeptical about NTP months ago, but subsequent conversations have shown a consistent pattern of accuracy and a degree of knowledge that a layman would not have access to.

A while ago I raised a topic which only a high level officer would be aware of, and he responded in a way that showed both an awareness and a wider recognition of the topic at hand that only someone with direct experience could relay. This is not simply a case of leading questions or confirmation bias- I've been corrected on certain topics which I've had to concede.

I'm sure others have had similar confirmations of their experience when it comes to Surfing, Sailing, Geopolitics and Monetary connections, Flight Schools, Military operations, Venezuela experiences, and so on. Most people have not experienced a life that encompasses such a wide variety of topics. It is understandable for those to be skeptical about what they can't relate to, but unwise to dismiss it before further examination.

(05-16-2016 09:18 AM)TravelerKai Wrote:  [Paraphrasing] Official history, as we've been indoctrinated to believe and as it applied to most people, suggests that NTP's story can't be true; ipso facto it isn't.

Nobody has addressed the points I've raised in my previous post:
- Not all history is written.
- Often nominal enemies are working together behind closed doors at the high levels (Hegelian dialectic).
- There are some people (and organizations) who are above the laws that apply to commoners.
/thread-55484...pid1298903

These are well documented. There are so many examples of this happening on a monthly basis that frankly, I don't know how this isn't blatantly obvious to most people. Is Hillary treated the same as a commoner when it comes to handling classified information? Is Clapper treated the same as a commoner when it comes to perjury? Holder when it comes to trafficking in arms? And these are the visible low level players on the power stage. Some people aren't subject to nominal laws as they're written.

In my opinion, there are two ways to react to unfamiliar information. One can consider the information with an open mind, and attempt to educate themselves further with a perspective they had not explored before. Or, if it does not perfectly match their fragile worldview, to attack and resent it.

Adult men often do not like being told they are wrong, or that they have much to learn on topics which they have devoted many hours of their lives pursuing. We build up egos based on our perceptions of ourselves, and we invest a great deal of emotion in them. It is an understandable aspect of human nature, but nonetheless an inexcusable impediment towards our growth as men.

“It occurs to me that the man and his religion are one and the same thing. The unknown exists. Each man projects on the blankness the shape of his own particular world-view. He endows his creation with his personal volitions and attitudes. The religious man stating his case is in essence explaining himself. When a fanatic is contradicted he feels a threat to his own existence; he reacts violently.”

His original post on Buddhism sounds great. Lots of details, tied in with a personal connection, and has a resonating (almost serrundiptitous) relevance to the thread's general discussion.

Turns out it's full of holes. It's not crazy to look at this and question everything else the guy has written on here. He easily could just be a nerdy kid that reads a lot and googles topics as they appear on the forum, and has been really good at it for a couple of months.

I'm not saying that's the case because I don't know. It's without a doubt a possibility though. Especially when he throws out weird vague threats and Chinese characters at senior members when they simply point out legitimate problems in the guy's story.

But I agree with thoughtgypsy in that the guy isn't trying to out anyone or get personal info.

Is that the historians version of NAWALT? (not all women are like that)

I've quite liked his previous posts and felt compelled to share what I could when I considered what I had to put down as possibly being of use to others. With that said, something stinks when a dude is asked a simple question and then replies with walls of text and vague threats.

It's hard to know anyone's true intentions. I do know that that is a method of breaking into a group only to corrupt it from the inside. I am making no claims at all, but after a character gets some renown it only makes it easier to get closer to those who are in control and then possibly attempt to subvert a culture minimally until it becomes something entirely different. Part of the whole reason people call things out, just to see what sort of character a person would have.

Personally I would have been fine if the guy had simply stated "I'd rather not discuss such personal things." But once again, those walls of texts only give off the illusion of talking around a subject with the intention of avoiding an actual response to the question.

RE: Buddhism
This really has little to do with "considering information with an open mind". As has been mentioned before, there are basic standards of scrutiny if new posters barge in dick swinging with extraordinary claims. Having lived such an extraordinary life, NTP should be accustomed to reactions of disbelief. Yet with his aggressively threatening and condescending behavior towards established, trusted members of this community, who very politely inquired about some supporting details for an unusual story - more than understandable given the amount of posers, moles, trolls and people with various questionable agendas that have fooled this forum in the past - NTP has demonstrated that he himself is not exactly an ardent follower of the principles and values of Buddhism or the Art of War which he claims to be so intimately familiar with.

I think we would all be more than happy to be proven wrong. However, at this point my opinion is that no matter whether his claims are true not - that someone with NTP's supposed intellect and life experience apparently cannot fathom adult men refusing to take outrageous stories at face value and immediately resorts to threats of violence - is frankly, quite revealing of character.

You're right the restrictions end in March and the ban is formally lifted in November.

You'd think NTP could clarify this himself since he was there, but since others are doing the historical digging this reaffirms that his sensitivity probably comes from a lack of truth on his part.

NTP provides an explanation in the PMs he sent out, along with his reasoning for not doing so publicly. There were also specific instructions for verifying the claims through FOIA requests that showed an above-average understanding of government agency guidelines with respect to administrative process requirements. There was also an invitation to exchange emails of further proof should the skeptics still not be satisfied.

Not all information can be shared publicly without risk. Particularly the information that goes against the official narrative. It would not surprise me if that information was intentionally hidden.

An example everyone should be familiar with: Up until 2013, those claiming that the government was engaged in warrantless mass collection of data of innocent civilians were considered pariahs making extraordinary claims. It wasn't until Snowden released privileged information on the matter that it become widely accepted.

Before that, if you were to look up the subject on the internet you wouldn't find anything to confirm it, and it would be easy to call him a liar. By sharing his knowledge, he is regarded to have been telling the truth, but that knowledge came at great personal cost.

So watch out for that, you don't want to get pulled into that community.
I wouldn't overgeneralize; in the "New Age" movement of the 1960s Buddhism and a lot of Eastern philosophy got coopted by hippie types, but Samurai warriors were also practitioners of Zen Buddhism, so it's not just some "hearts, butterflies, unicorns" thing.

Stoicism was also a philosophy of a Roman Emperor Marcus Aerulious and sounds pretty badass from what I heard of it; I believe it was essentially a philosophy for Roman soldiers on how to remain strong in mind during the hardships of war.

I have exchanged some PMs with Nasa Test Pilot, I received interesting and credible answers, and of course I read a good number of his posts, and well: He does seem like the "real deal" to me, meaning a man with, truly, a vast knowledge on many subjects. I am not talking about the Buddhism thing here, because I almost don't know anything about Buddhism and therefore can't judge, but, about sailing, Latin-American or European gepolitics, NTP does seem to me very truthful, very well-informed, and interesting, often thought-provoking.

(This is not saying that Traveler Kai is wrong in any way concerning the "China and Buddhism" matter at hand, I don't know about that. I'm just saying, almost all NTP posts I have read sounded "genuine" and of real value, to me... I probably don't agree at 100% with his views on Venezuelan society, but it is another matter. Just saying...)

Myself I would (respectfully, actually) have advised Nasa Test Pilot not to make (thinly) veiled "threats" to Suits, because it was obviously unnecessary, but, heck, I'd say Nasa Test Pilot can be forgiven on that...

Especially considering that Nasa Test Pilot is (if I'm not mistaken) almost directly responsible for a big gift-of-gold to many (respectable, if I am the one to say so Blush) forum members on this forum... I mean, the man does seem to put his acts (wallet, one might say) where his words are, so, respect to him on that!

A potential reasoning for doing so would be regarding the sensitivity of the information, making it inappropriate for public dissemination. One would be personal consequences (legal, safety). Another reason may be to protect the (hypothetical) methods which were employed to allow Buddhism to operate as an underground society during a time it was being politically persecuted.

There are other known historic examples where similar events occurred. One would be the Essenian sect of Christianity which was openly outlawed and persecuted in Roman times before the Council of Nicaea, yet managed to survive.

Another would be freemasonry, which was officially outlawed multiple times (Knights Templar 14th century, Rosicrucians 17th century, Illuminati 18th century, Anti masonic movement 19th century, etc) but managed to go underground and survive in different forms through all these periods. Providing information on how these societies operated underground, successfully thwarting official attempts to dismantle them would prevent them from employing those same methods of secrecy in the future.

(05-16-2016 04:02 AM)NASA Test Pilot Wrote:  故將有五危:必死可殺,必生可虜,忿速可侮,廉潔可辱,愛民可煩;凡此五危,將之過也,用兵之災也。覆軍殺將,必以五危,不可不察也。
There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: 1) Recklessness, which leads to destruction; 2) cowardice, which leads to capture; 3) a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; 4) a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; 5) over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble. These are the five besetting sins of a general, ruinous to the conduct of war. When an army is overthrown and its leader slain, the cause will surely be found among these five dangerous faults. Let them be a subject of meditation.

Interesting. Especially as I have, on other threads, advocated for the water-boarding of known terrorists, thus proving a modern-life understanding of Rule 4... (on this subject, yesterday a MSM reluctantly revealed that serious "intelligence opportunities" had been "missed" when interrogating Abdeslam, because his interrogation was -and still is- too soft).

Now, I would add a Rule 6, quite contradictory (or complementary) to rule 5, and it would run like that:
"under-solicitude for his men, which exposes them to unnecessary losses and damages their morale"

But come to think of it, isn't Rule 5 a mere consequence (side-effect?) of Rule 2, and my Rule 6 the same to Rule 1?

So, I'll propose my own (modern) version of these old, wise and oriental rules, which define a good general. My (shorter) version: "A good general has to be bold while keeping his nerves and wits." Feel free to quote me in one thousand years!

A good general at 25 years of age, Juan de Austria:

RE: Buddhism
Last time I saw this kind of drama was during the VincentVenturi trial. Everyone remember that?

I don't see what's so out of the ordinary about NTP anyways . Here's what I see:

1) Was in the military
2) Was a test pilot
3) Learned how to sail
4) Traveled a lot
5) Banged a lot of girls
6) Saved his money and made some good investments
7) Reads and has an interest in the world.
8) Owns a boat, has a couple homes, and his financially set. I imagine Test Pilots make good money and have a nice pension.

Since he's older ( mid-late 50's?) it's not unreasonable he did all of those things and what's so extraordinary about any of it?

Is it on the same level as a George Eastman or an Ernest Hemingway or a Theodore Roosevelt or countless other men throughout history? Did he create a life changing vaccine? Save the world from an asteroid?

No offense intended NTP, because it does take balls to be a test pilot, sail out into the ocean, and go to not-so-safe countries. It sounds like you've lived a great, fulfilling life and I respect you for it. What I respect more are your posts and how dedicated they are to sharing knowledge you have gained over your years and your willingness to answer our questions. As always, it's up to the reader to think about it and take from it what they want.

Now onto China. We discover NTP spent some time there as an adolescent because of his Father's work. Is that so far-fetched? I don't know, maybe. I don't know anything about China. Let the China guys here handle it and that's what Suits was initially doing in a slow and careful way.

TK, I understand you have some questions too and maybe they are very good ones but you should've given NTP time to answer Suit's first and simple question. It looks like you waited all of 12 hours. Geeez. All that serves to do is put NTP on the defensive. If your goal was to root out a troll I think you should've let Suit's take the lead on it as he already was.

Is NTP a troll? Don't know, and I don't really care because I've gotten value from many of his posts and he's always been pleasant to everyone.

I'll have some free time this coming August/September and would be happy to meetup with NTP so long as he takes me out sailing. Smile

RE: Buddhism
To be fair Onto, I don't think TK or Suits were skeptical as a result of his other life experiences. My understanding is that their skepticism arose mainly as a result of NTP discussing life experiences that do not line up with their understanding of Chinese history. Presumably TK and Suits have considerable experience with China, and if the story does not match their experience or understanding of history, that is where the red flags (no pun intended) would come in.

I think that's understandable given the circumstances. There's been instances where suggestions that NTP has made did not line up with my experiences (regarding subjects related to military, electromagnetism, space flight) and I have questioned him on them, to which he's generally been able to provide answers that give sufficient clarification. I would note that many of these clarifications show an understanding that would be highly unlikely of someone that did not have access to or experience with. In fact, many of the threads that he's pointed me towards have often revealed extremely rare information that only a top insider would even be aware of.

I think most of the focus is centered on the conflict between the official history of China, specifically relating to the existence of Buddhism during the early 1970s (which was officially illegal), and the ability of Americans to live and travel in China during a time when officially they were not permitted. Essentially it comes down whether you believe the approved narrative of history or not.

RE: Buddhism
I think it was very, very bizarre that a guy on NTP's level (or a guy claiming to be on that level) would make veiled, and quite frankly, hilarious threats to senior membership. I understand feeling defensive but that is extremely unusual given that all suits originally did was ask:

"Where in China were you?"

I think Suits and TK were quite respectful given NTPs replies which ran the gamut from threats to obscure word salad. Everyone respected NTP's privacy and didn't post that epic word salad he sent us and brought this all back to the thread.

I'm not sure why some guys think it's so unreasonable for our resident china experts to grill a new guy on his experiences in china, especially if they're as extraordinary as NTP claims. Dudes on here have been called out for FAR less. I'm not sure why people are raising a stink over NTP being called out on some extraordinary claims.

If some dude on this forum told he me got into a 6some with 5 supermodels, I would ask who/what/when/where and how and that is still not as extraordinary as learning motherfuckin' kungfu and meditation in China during the height of the cultural revolution--from a monk. I think this is a healthy thing that the forum is doing.

Furthermore, if privacy is so important, why would you even mention this sort of thing? There are guys on this forum who have done some amazing shit, but they don't bring it up on the forum--and they don't have to defend it because no one knows. I respect privacy and all that, but I'm not sure how NTP figured we would all accept his White man in 1970s China story without getting called out.

I don't mind guys using stories to make a point, but if dudes are gonna tell stories and then get butthurt when guys call them out, then don't tell stories. That's the oldest rule on the internet and if you don't know that rule then I don't know what to tell you.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

RE: Buddhism
Fortis, first you described it as being "respectful", then you describe it as "grilling", then lastly you describe it as "calling him out". Which is it?

I don't think NTP was defensive about Suit's initial question, but rather TK's followup 12 hours later that was frankly, an attack. When TK insinuates he's telling a "story" and uses the words "suspicious" and all the rest, it's not anywhere near being respectful and just asking questions in a polite way. It's very aggressive, right out of the gate.

If I were NTP and what I said were true, and someone spoke to me that way I wouldn't be nice either. Not at all. In my early days on the forum a well-repped member once accused me of being a woman and I wasn't nice in my response.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask questions. That's what Suits was doing. I do think TK went overboard and insinuated NTP was a liar. Right from the get-go. That's how it reads to me. I can re-post it and highlight all the spots, but do I really need to do that?

How would you respond if you told the forum a private part of your upbringing and then someone else responded by insinuating you were a liar?

RE: Buddhism
^ Fine, but does that warrant threats of being punched in the face and obscure (and hilarious) art of war quotes?

That one's on the level of "cum fite me irl bro." Totally not what I'm expecting from a guy who claims he studied meditation from a Buddhist monk in his early teens.

If a dude is going to react that way then why tell these stories in the first place? I'll wait for NTP to reply, but it's funny to think that he thought no one would find his stories and replies to be very questionable.

The entire thing smacks of absurdity on NTPs part.

IF someone on the forum did those two things you have three options:

1) Prove that you did what you said you did
2) Bow out
3) Admit it was false

Flinging insults does nothing to further one's position.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

RE: Buddhism
I suppose it's plausible. My childhood was also rather typical.

Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets.

When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds. Pretty standard, really.

At the age of 12 I received my my first scribe.

At the age of 14 a Zoroastrian named Wilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum. It's breathtaking-- I suggest you try it.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

There were also specific instructions for verifying the claims through FOIA requests that showed an above-average understanding of government agency guidelines with respect to administrative process requirements. There was also an invitation to exchange emails of further proof should the skeptics still not be satisfied.

Not all information can be shared publicly without risk.

This to me is the most important point thus far. How many of you in this thread have actually read the PM he sent?

His responses in this thread haven't been quite as strong but I think some of you are lacking the full picture.

In regards to his threats, maybe I missed something but what he said barely amounted to more than "attack me and I'll attack you back." I don't see anything wrong on that front and this "skeptical bandwagon" would certainly feel like an attack to anyone.

We'll see how this plays out. Hopefully his next response is without Art of War quotes and various Chinese letterings.

RE: Buddhism
The China claims on their own are suspect, but let's not forget that NASA has a history of extreme claims that have for the most part been treated with respect and trust.

For example, NTP claims that he is currently capable of swimming 16,000 meters in a day and apparently does so regularly.

(03-27-2016 01:43 AM)NASA Test Pilot Wrote:  Yes, at age 48 years, 7 months my peak distance was 20,000 meters (long course) per day (low intensity doing 8,000-10,000 meters in the morning with weights (45-60 minutes) afterward 3-4 days per week followed by 8,000-12,000 meters in the afternoon. The afternoon workout was preceded by (30-45 minutes) of dryland training 3-4 days per week. Morning practice is generally in the water at 0500 and finishing at 0700-0730 (weights followed). In the afternoon, dryland training began at 1430 and then in the water at 1500-1515 until 1700-1800. Sometimes we had mental training in the evenings depending on the meso-cycles and competitions. Saturday practices were/are normally a 3 hour ordeal often with weights or dryland and/or mental training afterward. I dropped down to 18,000 meters peak distance shortly afterward during the next training cycle. Now I am at 16,000 meters peak distance and my next dip will be to 14,000-14,500 meters. My body fat is normally 6-6.5% during peak distance (where my fat intake is moderate, cholesterol in range and my T-levels near 800) and will drop down to 4.5-5% during taper where my body super compensates and I compete.

Keep in mind that NASA claims that this isn't just something he achieved in the past, but it is something he is CURRENTLY capable of.

I tried to get a clear answer on how much Olympic athletes swim per day, but could find anything specific. However, the best information I could find suggests that NASA's regiment is that of a high level Olympic athlete.

Not impossible, of course. But suspicious.

What I don't understand is how NTP is currently maintaining the training regiment of a professional 20 year old athlete and can still do the following.

(02-22-2016 05:38 PM)NASA Test Pilot Wrote:  I have been sailing for 37 years with the last 10 years in retirement. It is a great lifestyle on so many different levels, but there are certainly challenges.

For the first 3 years of my retirement, I went slowly around the world under sail, hitting many ports of call and trying to have a pretty girl in each one. I then purchased my second foreign home and sailed between the two.

The issue with many LTR´s in many ports is that they want to spend more time with you and they often move out of the rotation or they will fly somewhere around the world (wherever I happen to be) and we sail together for a week, two weeks or a month. It is logistics on a macro scale. It is a good problem to have as long as you keep your attention focused where you want it and not on maintaining some woman. I found that three to four weeks as optimal being under sail no more than 10 straight days. The younger they are/were the easier it is to maintain them. Eventually I purchased a third and a fourth home, with one being a working farm.

Now one of my yearly cycles looks like this; stay at one house for 4 months, sail half way around the world for 2 months to house number two, stay there for 4 months and then continue my sail the other way around the world for 2 more months. Other cycles go between more homes and less time on the ocean or not crossing major oceans or keeping my boat in one port, flying somewhere and then returning to my boat. There are many options with pluses and minus.

Sometimes I will meet someone (or someone flies to me) and they want to be on the boat for a while and we go to an island with almost no people and we live there (native style) together for three or four weeks (this is one of my personal favorites especially when the woman has been sheltered in the concrete jungle).

Somehow, NTP manages to swim as much as 16,000 meters per day, while routinely spending as many as 10 days straight under sail. I'm not a physical training expert, but when talking to guys who are, I've been told that your physical state quickly becomes reduced, even if you take a one week break from training.

How does NTP regularly hit the high seas, spending 3-4 weeks on some deserted island with some chick, and still maintain a training schedule that would only be normal for an Olympic athlete half his age?

I'm more interested in knowing how and in what universe this is possible, than discrediting NASA Test Pilot.

I'm the King of Beijing!
