After a thorough search of the forum, I couldn't find a thread detailing how shitty the TV show Friends is. I fucking hate this show. And I hate Ross the most. It turned an entire society into pussies. It indoctrinated men to be obsessive beta males who should grovel at a woman's feet for the slightest bit of attention. Even worse, it indoctrinated women into believing they are entitled to such groveling. As a result, it made dating the shitfest that it is today and turned entire generations in to self centered narcissists.



I saw this picture being passed around on Facebook, and thats what led me to create this thread. A breakdown on her fake smile and his pedestalizing body language is hardly necessary. Not to mention, shes clearly on an actual pedestal, because the guy that plays Ross is at least 6-8 inches taller than her.


VICE actually did a pretty decent write up on how this show sucks ass.

Friends characters consisted of wimpy beta males (Although Joey was OK... even though he demonstrated that the only way to be successful with women is by being a player. Relationships are nearly always miserable), while the women were condescending flakes, and deserve to be worshiped by any interested male just so said males can toss them in the friend zone and they can complain that there "aren't any good guys" out there.

The creators of Friends were wildly successful and contributed significantly to the changing of the male/female dynamic forever. How I Met Your Mother came in afterwards and cemented the notion.

Korean girls love Friends... It's unbelievable how without fail every single Korean girl that I've interacted with loves this show. I know two native Koreans who have actually learned fairly decent conversational English by habitually watching the show over and over again.

Can't say I've ever watched a full episode of the show as I was never into sitcoms, but I've used it to game them in the "I bet your favorite show is this" way. When I guess "Friends" they get all excited and ask me, "How did you knowwww?" Proceed from there...

I do generally agree with the OP. The show was basically Sex and the City lite with Monica, Rachel and Phoebe slutting it around. Ross and Chandler were your typical betas and Joey was the only with game but was a complete idiot.

It was a garbage show which told millions of women to slut it up and then get the guy to marry in your late 30s, and told the men to be a beta who puts these girls on a pedestal.

On to RIslander's point, I was enamored with this show when I was in middle/high school when it was airing, to my shame. I have always been red pill but was probably too immature and inattentive to truly comprehend what I was watching. When Friends became available on Netflix, the country rejoiced. This was my favorite TV show as a teenager, but upon its release to Netflix, my 30 year old self felt no inclination to watch one episode. It's almost as if my subconscious remembered how emasculating and beta the show really was.

Side note: RI, your opening sentence is surprisingly very funny.

I watched probably every single episode and enjoyed the show. That was however back in my blue pill days, though even back then I didn't do much pedestalizing myself and thrived reasonably well on a diet of mostly drunken one-night stands and the occasional STR - I suspect Friends might have spoken to my naive romantic dreams. And my fondness for sitcoms, which hasn't entirely gone away (though I'll sure as hell take a It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Arrested Development over a How I Met Your Mother or similar Generic Romantic/Family Sitcom X, Y or Z) if I need 20 minutes of relaxing entertainment with my breakfast or lunch.

I never understood the love for this show. It wasn't particularly funny, the acting was merely alright, the plot/writing nothing special, the sets low quality/cheesy. Then again, I was never a huge fan of sitcoms.

I completely agree. There's a reason why Roosh recommends this show as a teaching tool to learn how to talk to women.

That show is a good way to dumb ourselves down to their level. Women only really understand simplistic and downright boring humour.

Sitcoms, and most shows in general, always make the main character a beta male cuckold because that way he'll apply to most modern men and therefore the show will get more fans.

This is a good thread idea, though. This is one of the biggest shows ever, and admittedly I spent a lot of my childhood watching it. I've seen every episode at least once. The Ross/Rachel relationship was by far the most annoying aspect of it; mainly because the show focused a huge chunk of time talking about it and making them go back and forth. I sincerely never cared.

Rachel wasn't even a perfect 10 to begin with. What a waste of a pedestal. She was an average-looking idiot and the definition of a basic bitch. Nothing special or unique about her.

And it was funny that everyone seemed to agree that Rachel was the hot one. I would have banged Monica over Rachel any day. Maybe even Phoebe.

Joey was the man, though.

You're completely right, Ben Shapiro makes the case in his book, Prime Time Propaganda that certain tv shows have a liberal bias and tv shows are designed to make their audience feel a certain way on a subject (via interview the directors and creators of certain shows)- he specifically mentions the tv show friends and how in one episode there was a lesbian wedding- according to the producer the fact that they were lesbians was SPECIFICALLY put in there as a "fuck you to the right [wing]", there are other mentions but thats all I can think of so far.

That's another show that reflects the feminization of our society. Out of the three main guys, two of them have gay voices and are awful at talking to women, and the only player is gay in real life.

Never watched it. My girlfriend binge-watched a lot of this show in her early high school and uni days and I totally ruined it for her by pointing out that, like the photo in the OP, the men and women's roles are flipped around as a core part of subversive propaganda in the media. It helps that in our own photos together, we pose almost exactly the opposite of the OP's one. She deeply believes in men and women having traditional roles created by God, so that killed the show for her. In the bin went the DVDs and I have not heard about the show from her since.

Someone should do the numbers on how many people Robin nailed during the handful of years that show was running.

I used to watch Friends years ago when I was a naive teenager and even then it was amazing how pathetic the men in those shows are… Especially Ross. If there has ever been a bigger pussy on television I'm yet to see it.

Seinfeld though… I still love that show!

I thought the goal of watching Seinfeld was to get into a relaxed shoot-the-shit mood, not to imitate its humor?
