Great openers thread
Let's share some of our best openers and why you think it's good. Specific, not type. For example, if you have a particularly brilliant opinion opener, don't just say "opinion opener", tell us exactly what it is.

My first contribution to the thread:

First, find something unique about the target. Say she's the only woman in the place wearing a red sweater.

"Hi there. I just had to come up and tell you that I think you are the most beautiful woman in here..."

(slight pause - juuuust long enough for her to start thinking you're done but not long enough for her to jam in a reply)

"...wearing a red sweater."

I like this one a lot because it starts out as a compliment (good), but sounds cheesy and lame (bad), and then turns into a slight neg (because if she's the only one with a red sweater on, then it's not really a compliment after all) with a humorous teasing twist.

RE: Great openers thread
Inadvertently stumbled on this one last night while standing in line at the liquor store. Five minute conversation in the parking lot, preening and smiling but I was defeated by 'I have a boyfriend' and the venue (liquor store parking lot at about 7:15 at night) didn't merit a press.

Scene: ME (with one bottle of wine), standing in line at the liquor store, looking awesome. Enter A PETITE BLONDE holding two bottles of vodka, a 6-pack and a bottle of wine. We make eye contact.

Me (aloof smirk): Do you want to go ahead of me.
Her (Smiles): That'd be great...
Me (playfully): Well you can't!

RE: Great openers thread
an opener is completely irrelevant. in fact, as some guy said, the opener should be just as quick and instinctive move as catching door keys thrown at your face. almost like a knee jerk reaction. when you think about it, the opener's purpose is not to create attraction but to let her know you even exist (when she doesn't know that already) or to stop her or start interaction. simple HEY is ok. nothing more. in other words.. opener doesn't mean shit. it's how you follow though what's important. how you lead for there. how you keep it sexy. how persistant you are etc.

i remember i once started conversation with a chick saying hi to her and then "shit, i suck so much right now i have nothing to say.. really.. and your blue eyes don't help at all" cause i was feeling just like that. i said what i felt. it was student party camp. i was sleep deprived from partying and just had big dinner (you know guys how you eat a lot and you get sleepy afterwards Big Grin). my friends were playing cards and i was sitting on a bench in front of little house bored out of my mind like a vegetable. she came out of this house and sat with us. but somehow she was a bit curious about me and it went from there.

if someone next to me would have analized my game then he couldn't understand how such a thing could go well. but it was perfectly ok cause i was congruent and didn't pretend to be cool guy when i felt i wasn't at the time.

thing is, i can't be charismatic all the time. sometimes i just feel yuck or lazy and i'm not talkative at all and the best thing is always always to stay congruent. i'm only human, i can have low points. saying "hi.. what's up missy?" with playful handshake completely casual is perfectly ok in that situation. essentially i'm playing with what i got at that moment. and most probably after few minutes of talking/flirting my emotional state will change.

in fact, it's exactly how the night start when you i out. i' sometimes not in the mood or just not that ready yet for the fun ahead of me so it's better to start slow and build it up as i socialize with others and loosen up.

Here's an opener I've been using for years:

(While at the bar)

"When you think of a manly drink, what kind of drink pops into your head?"

Works on 99% of women. Too bad I'm not into talking game at night, I'd might use it more.

I'm thinking about becoming the dupe-thread Nazi. I put together this little simple graphic toward that purpose. Good idea/bad idea?

RE: Great openers thread
I just say "hey, what's happening?"

Or, if in a bar with sport: "what team are you cheering for?"

or: "Hey" while walking toward a girl.

I have an accent. Whatever works.

The only thing that does not work is trying to be funny. It never worked, for some reasons.

RE: Great openers thread
Opener efficacy is highly variable. Depends on your personality, the size of the venue, size of the town, temperament of the people, and your personality.

I usually open by asking if a girl is from country X, then mention I was in city Y over the summer. I often ask brunettes if they're Brazilian because fake tans are huge with the girls here, and they perceive looking Brazilian as a subtle complement. It gets their guard down without you having to resort to complimenting them outright, which I'm not sure if I like doing yet.

I find that outright compliments are best said with a tone of transparent calculation that hints at your intentions. I.e. "You're beautiful," in a flat, casual type of way that approaches neg territory.

Looks like there are a lot of guys having trouble with opening.

RE: Great openers thread
Opening at clubs or bars has been easy for me. (I get to talk to 7 out of 10 girls. I don't know if it's a good ratio though)

I like approaching tall girls (over 6 feet with heels) because a lot of guys just get scared and leave them alone.
I use 'I bet you are 5'5" without heels Smile'

2~3 girls talking to each other 'hey is it polite to break into girls conversation? smirk'
It depends on their interest level in you.

'hey, who are you?' while grabbing around her waist (girl should be drunk little bit and have high sexual vibe)

'hey, I wanted to talk to you' just grab her hand and pull when she passes you by. it really depends on your confidence level.

2 girls talking to each other. talk to target's friend. 'hey, I really want to talk to your friend but I think I need to get your permission, give me 2 minutes and I will return her without any damage Smile ' (look at both girls while talking. it would be better if your target listens to you)

Smoking area. the girl is smoking. 'hey smoking is bad for you' and pull out your cigarette with smile.

I used to think about what I am going to say before entering the club
hm today I am going to use 'do I look gay in this jacket'.

Now, I just say whatever comes to my mind.
I don't think it's about what you say as long as you carry a common sense.
It's all about delivery and confidence anyways.
