If there’s anybody who knows anything about IT and bypassing security using stuff like VPN, it’s Indians…they will find a way!

If streaming video sites are blocked porn will still be available from torrents and direct downloads from forums and/or blogs. A lot of the DVD stores sell porn under the counter.

I remember walking into a cyber café years in India years ago and typing in an address in the browser bar. Just about all the autofills and history was porn.

2.) Charge $2-3
3.) Sell to 600 million IRT's
4.) Total Profits would make you an instant billionaire

In all seriousness, I find this interesting for a number of reasons, but perhaps the main one is that the second most populous country in the world has taken such a dramatic step to curb a vice, it really shows that most of the world is not at all on par with the liberalism and Cultural Marxism of the Western world.

I think so, but that just even further validates my point. One has to wonder if individual freedom should trump the well-being of society; a question that has been asked for millenia.

To my knowledge porn in india has always been illegal. This comes really as no surprise. But yet Indian amateur porn is so popular. I see this kind of behaviour becoming more popular. Oh well at least he tried

It felt like around half the damn websites - non-porn - I tried to access during a vacation in Shanghai were blocked. And the rest loaded at dial-up speed, despite being on a broadband connection in a private apartment owned by a European (I'm guessing Chinese web sites load a lot faster while foreign sites are allocated a tiny sliver of bandwidth).
Same problems of course with 3G on the Chinese pre-paid sim I bought.
I tried a few VPNs with limited success - most sites loaded but still excruciatingly slowly. When I could connect to the VPNs at all.

My Android phone was also partially crippled with Google Maps not working and no access to the Google Play store. And of course Google search. If I recall correctly I couldn't even check my damn email without using a VPN.

If India is only blocking porn it might still be Internet heaven compared to China.
